It’s non boost if it doesn’t mention it.

Worst thing that can happen if you mess up is you need to buy a different chainring.

The ones I’ve been looking at are either marked up as boost or not. Only difference is either a normal chainring or a boost one.

Just to add more confusion for you. A friend recently bought the non boost version for his boost bike, realised his error and ordered a boost chainring before trying it.

The non boost fitted fine as the chainring had clearance on his frame and have a better chainline then the boost ring…..

    Good luck 😁

So OP how did you manage to do that. Forgot to let the air out first?

Knew a guy who did similar and it went through his jaw! 😐

Expensive option but spacers are available for the 9point8 dropper to adjust travel to what ever you want.

I’ve got a 750ml bottle I found as trail treasure so I’d guess they are a bit rubbish!

+1 for using the bearing puller. It will hold or it did for me at least.

Ermmm 83mm BB is not boost related. It’s just a wider BB found on DH bikes usually.

OP, if your new frame is standard 68/73mm BB you should be able to adjust your chainline by spacing the chainring or moving BB spacers.

Ermmm. It should fit. Have you actually tried it?

    It’s supposed to do that..

You could fill it with more grease which should quieten it down a touch but honestly you’ll get used to it.

i  know someone who’s had both. 5 is the all rounder. The 6 is meant for going down steep stuff so struggles back up.

I may of just broken my segment but can vouch for its abilities. I ride mainly steep natural stuff as quick as I can and the bike handles it well. Funnily enough the negatives I’ve found with it have all been addressed with the stage 4 according to the video on the front page. Namely, slacker head angle, shorter seat tube and and longer reach.

At no point have I felt like it needed more rear travel. Only the front felt a bit lacking at 120mm but I always find this with “shorter” travel forks.

You could buy the new stage 4 or get the segment then slightly up the travel on the forks, use offset bushes and a slightly longer stem if needed.

    Great bike…..

Auto correct seems to have put created in my previous post instead of cracked but I guess that was obvious.

Wierdly it’s cracked straight through the driveside dropout which is a machined billet piece. Granted it’s at the thinnest part of this and has opened up at the crack and twisted slightly so its got me thinking it had some material defect or incorrectly heat treated and the stress wasn’t relieved.

I can’t knock the bike other than that. It’s my first orange and has been great fun. Fingers crossed it gets replaced and live to ride again…

I kinda want my segment to crack so I can trade up to a stage 5. Then crack that!

Well after posting that four months ago, I’ve created the segment! Doh……

We aren’t getting anymore culture novels so why not let someone have a stab at a TV series. If it’s good I’ll watch it if not I won’t.

Who knows it could start off something good.

Wear some workshop nitrile/latex gloves under your normal gloves for a quick cheap fix to cold hands.

I use them all the time in winter.

Ummmm.might just order a boost and non boost ring  then. See what fits best when the frame arrives.

What about running these on a boost frame? Do I need an offset chainring?

Cheers folks. Think I’ll look at the aeffect then. Liking the Shimano BB option with that as well.

Man up and 30t is an option but I’ve been harder than that for the past year or so with a 32t and want the option for going lower if and when I want.

I sold a car once that still had finance on it. Guy came round with money, I rang and paid off finance in his presence and off he went. Sent all documents on when they arrived.

I didn’t know him personally but he worked in the same organisation as me.

No problem if you trust each other.

    Devil’s advocate……

Friend of mine was a bad lad in his youth. Drug and violence charges. That was 20 years ago though and he’s a saint and a family man now. Couldn’t get into the ambulance service because of these marks on his record though.

In other words this guy could of done something stupid when younger and unfortunately you can’t get rid of it no matter how long it’s been out how much you’ve changed.

right, you buggers have got me thinking…

i don’t need a 12v, but the equivaent of a pump sprayer that gives a bit more pressure and water. how do you pressurise the fire extinguisher marc90?

bike gets washed out on the road in front of workshop/house; it’s just a pain to unroll the hose through 2 doors and down a couple of steps. same for mains electrics, and no 12v handy.

suggestions? something portable along the lines of the fire extinguisher would do. like the idea of making it myself. do have a compressor availabel to pre-charge, if that were possible

Could you not keep a 12v car battery near the entrance then you could use the powered version.

I’ve got mine attached to the rear door of the van and is great. I’m about to get a 15 or 20 litre container though as a very muddy bike is only just clean with the 10 litre I’ve got and loads of scrubbing to loosen it off.

Ahhh. The Three Lane Death Swerve….

I think as mentioned you may of just encountered some knob heads. Unsurprisingly they are nationwide and not limited to the north.

Although I did coin the above phrase in my youth after performing said manoeuvre and then getting pulled over by a copper sat on the roundabout of the junction. He wasn’t impressed. I’ve never done it again

Ohh I live in the north

I’ve become aware of the points this article makes for awhile now and thankfully and maybe surprisingly it was on an NHS funded recovery course I attended.
I can’t find the exact sheet I’ve got pinned on my door but it follows the same basic principles outlined in the article and in this link.
    https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/stress-anxiety-depression/improve-mental-wellbeing/?#five-steps-to-mental-wellbeing

It ain’t rocket science when you accept what it’s telling you and I’m finding it very helpful and am taking steps to follow it’s advice.

I like many I suppose got tricked into following the “modern” way of life and it did not compute.

Somewhere past loose but well before red face tight.

But about 5NM as mentioned above is a fairly standard stem torque setting.
