I can help a bit. I’m 6ft 2 and have an XL sentinel on order after demo’ing one. The reach numbers etc are misleading due to the steep seat tube but then works really well once the seat is dropped. I wouldn’t want smaller.

I wanted a sentinel as I was finding my orange segment gets out of its depth on rougher stuff. Good bike though. I’ve enjoyed it but like you wanted to do uplifts etc more often. Gave the sentinel a good couple of days test and it’s much more capable. Felt like a little DH bike compared to the segment and climbs very well. Didn’t notice the extra weight at all.

Slight problem with sentinel at the moment is though they’ve ran out of fox 36’s for them. 😐 Apparently more land at transition in August so I’m expecting September by the time they get here.

Don’t think it’s an issue if you choose rockshox or buy a full bike.

Thanks OP. Got myself one of these and am more than happy with it but I do have a question for townydc as he seems the expert 😃

I seem to be having various experiences with the auto uploading feature. As in sometimes it seems to work, others I seem to have to give it a shove and do it manually. Can you describe how you use this feature? As in when do you have phone Bluetooth on? Does it need phone signal as it transfers from the watch ( not available sometimes in the woods) etc etc…. Blaa blaa.

Natural selection Carlos. Don’t worry about. It’s been happening for quite a while now.

If all the nobbers don’t kill themselves off doing stupid stuff the human race is doomed.

    Doomed I tell ya

Some good ideas for routes here.

I don’t like the look of the road climb to the radar station but looks like it can add some extra miles. Are descents gained from doing it worth the effort? I.m liking the sound of Gareth’s disaster route! 😃

Fancy doing this again soon. Which would you say is the best descent to do? High cup to murton or high cup to Dufton?

I’d be coming from cow green. Last time I did it went high cup to Dufton which I remember being good until it hit farm track half way down. Stopped there then headed back though and have wanted to go back to do a full loop.

    Cheers

    Great pics

Not taken as a dig at all. To me, snowflake isn’t just someone with an opposing view. I’m thinking of some of the new intake at work who seem to expect everything to be handed to them on a plate and appear unable to consider other people or the bigger picture. Generation Z if you’d rather.

Fair enough. Personally I think it has connotations beyond that, that you may or may not want to be associated with.

    What happened to Generation Y?

Got a lad at work who uses the term to white wash people who don’t agree with his bigoted opinions. OP, you think your wife’s annoying! Try listening to this lad for an afternoon 😃

I remember reading an article about the dementia thing. The study involved those already suffering playing some basic computer games each day and it had positive effects on their well-being.

    Clove oil

I had really bad tooth pain caused by a bit of tooth stuck in the gum. Was desperate one night and tried every painkiller I had including tramadol.

Found some clove oil. 20mins later. No pain. Couldn’t believe it!

Helvellyn can be pretty lairy in places and guissy off piste can be pretty hard. Maybe your trying to run before you can walk? Which has then knocked your confidence?

Just because all the videos and pics you see are of folk riding hard on these more technical trails doesn’t mean you should be able to do it straight away. It takes constant practice like anything else.

Although I can ride most stuff I’ll openly admit I get a bit scared on new technical stuff and ride it a bit rubbish. Repetition is the key. Once I get to know the trail my speed and confidence increases.

Take it easy and build up at your own pace. 👍

This is what your local crisis team is for. They can visit and assess your wife’s condition and decide if she needs more urgent help.

It doesn’t have to be a section in hospital. If she needs the help she could go voluntarily if they advise it and it’s not the end of the world. Far from it. Could be the begining of recovery.

    My story:

Several times I begged my family not to call them over the years. Silly mistake. Finally admitted defeat, voluntarily spent sometime in an open psychiatric ward, and it was the best thing I’ve ever done! Finally I got the help i needed both during and after my stay.

    Good luck to you both

I was initially disappointed with my orange segment but had no choice but to stick with it. Gradually chipped away at what I thought was wrong and have ended up really enjoying it.

    I changed:

    Increased fork travel

    Offset bushes

    Wider bars

    Longer stem

    Longer dropper

A friend  tried them. Rode like a pro for a few hours but couldn’t sleep properly for three days!

Everyone’s reaction to high caffeine content is different though.

I’m sure one of the reviews for the new transitions tried runs with normal and reduced offset forks.

Unsurprisingly it worked best with the reduced offset and he didn’t die with the normal. There are loads of frames that’ll take your fork though. Why pick one which will be a compromise?

    Fatgit….

You will be sent a simpler form basically asking if there has been any change. On first appearance it seems your sending it back after only ticking a few boxes.

Again I would advise sending any supporting documentation from health professionals to prove this and fill in what you see fit to support your claim.

Not bothered helicoiling them but have killed a couple of xt cranks this way. On both occasions found a second hand replacement from a person who had killed the other side to me :)

I’m sure I read somewhere that they are more susceptible to failure than say the SLX due to manufacturing difference. As in the xt is threaded rather than a threaded insert or some thing.*

    *May be totally wrong

    This is a good site

    https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/

costs a few quid to access their guides but it’s still worth it. They are an advocacy group who regularly harass the government for change and transparency, so money well spent.

Only other advice I can give is to get as many health professionals as possible to back up your claim with written support.

    Good luck

Nudged by the other thread! And in part because I left warehousing to try another sector in the belief it’d be more rewarding. It wasn’t. Just in case my employer reads this, I’m only messing*

What are my options for earning roughly the UK average but just coasting along never really under any pressure to achieve anything. Y’know the sort of clock off **** off set up. No qualifications of any note required, no financial targets, targets overall kept to an absolute minimum if in existence at all, and if they do they be as close to meaningless as possible. No one giving you shit trying to inspire creative thinking out of you. Just enough interest so you don’t get too bored (although I can handle boredom more than stress). Anything that requires learning to keep up to date can **** off. I do work hard, during working hours, can pretty much turn my hand to anything that doesn’t require extended learning (a few days or weeks is fine, if the training ventures into months it can fu….. you get the idea). It’s not a lack of ambition, it’s just the ambition doesn’t involve workplace success.

Anything that gets me spare time during daylight hours in winter would be a massive win. And I’d rather have a cheap bike than work my arse off for an expensive bike.

How much do bin men earn these days? How many hours do they do?

    *Im not**

**Or am in! Sorry not sorry.

You sir, are my new hero….

    That is all…. Carry on.

I run a chainguide as well so haven’t had the chain falling off. What did finally happen was the chain jammed on the ring. Had trouble getting it back off.

Forgot to keep an eye on it so I guess it’s best to change the ring and chain at the same time…..

    I’m with andreasrhoen on this.

I start small/small then do big/big and then test if fs bike. Doing  this way means the chain is always a bit long to start. You can always remove links after to fine tune. You can’t put them back in.

Feel your pain with Oranges dropper routing. Whoever thought that was a good idea wants putting down.

I eventually used some cotten thread and a hover on the seat tube to get me started.

I’d say buy from somewhere with free returns. Order a few then send back the ones that don’t fit.

    DIY servicing at home

Pretty much rules out Fox unless you’re going to limit yourself to a Lower Service.

Why would you think that? Their no different to an RS fork. Air spring one side, cartridge damper the other. Both can be accessed and serviced and the damper can be bled.

    Here’s the instructions:

    Top tip….

When finished riding shift into highest gear on the rear. This takes the tension from the spring prolonging its life.

Used them to send a dh bike with a load of tyres last year. Weighed a ton and had to give the driver a hand with it!

I got the impression he was a contractor for Paisley as there where other logos onnhis van. He did not check the size or weight.

    It’s a classic tale isn’t it.

    Expects something for nothing.

Man is then disgruntled when he gets nothing.

    Control is thinner side wall

Grid is the thicker with gripton being the newer 2018 compound of the same tyre. People are listing the old version as they still have stock. Honestly not noticed much difference myself so pick the cheapest.

At about twice the price you can have a spacer adjustable 9point8 post which is home serviceable. Mmmmm

After recently having no trail bike for awhile my geared, dropper rigid bike has seen more use than usual on stuff I would of usually kept away from. What a laugh it was as well.

    Long story short…..

Did mine recently again and it’s surprising the colour difference between the oil that came out and the new going in.  So it must break down or something. Worth doing whenever you do a lowers service really. It doesn’t take much longer. I only drain the old oil out and put fresh in mind. Haven’t felt the need for a full rebuild.

Instructions are in the manuals for your forks.

Sorry I can see my original post was confusing.

    Boost groupset will say boost

Non boost will not have non boost in title. It’ll just be as your link shows.
