My Dad likes to tell me how easy I have it. Mind you in his day registers could be viewed on a bank of lamps!

    Just sent my email.

I’ve stalled for 3 weeks solid. The beer has been flowing on six nations days (all dayers usually around the 10 pint mark), mixed with quiet evenings with the wife and a couple bottles of wine and fine dining. Wifes been cooking up nice deserts recently too. God I need to get out on the bike.

*sniff* It’s not like the old days.

I remember when installing Linux involved a stack of Slackware floppies and overnight kernel compiles on my old 16 MHz 386 with 4MB RAM.

Ask around on mtb-wales.com I know there’s some routes in the Elan Valley (which goes from Devils Bridge (well Cymystwyth) to Rhaeder via the 4 dams)

remember issue 1 of MBUK and my first MTB, a Ridgeback 600 STI. Year was probably around ’88? Had a bit of an outage between the mid nineties and last year though, although I had a couple MTBs in that period, I rarely rode. No idea why I stopped. Am loving riding again now though 🙂

3 outdoor bike racks. One at the bottom of the hill at the end of the footpath/steps which the main building is on, one in the carpark and one for staff around the back. Most are CCTV covered. 1 shower cubical not great but better than nothing. We are also right next door to the Uni pool/ sports centre and get a great rate on membership so can use their pool, showers, gym, climbing wall etc instead. Oh and we’re on Cyclescheme.

Can’t wait to start commuting by bike next week.

I don’t remember what it was, but it was my least favourite childhood bike.

And regarding the Vektar. Doesn’t it loook as stupid as a modern DH bike?

    Strika for me too

Me dabbing on a gnarly bit of tarmac singletrack near home some time in the early 80s

lead to this beautiful chrome burner and the only full face I’ll ever own.

Think my first bike might have been a fixie though. Rod brakes too.

The George Borrow is probably the closest to Nant (easily ridable).

Not stayed there but I’ve had a pint at the bar before getting on the Aber RFU coach down to Millenium for an All Blacks game. Seemed pleasant enough in an untouched kind of way. Can’t vouch for rooms I’m afraid.

With or without 1 mile separation there are still a lot of blind spots on an aircraft and a distinct lack of RADAR on Grob Tutors I’m willing to bet. Accidents can still happen, particularly during aerobatic maneuvers which is what half the time is spent doing on your average AEF unless things have changed that much in 16 years.

I was lucky enough to have a fair few Air Experience flights with 6AEF out of Abbingdon as a kid and I’d hate for this to put and end to it. It’s a truely awful accident but it’s not exactly commonplace.

Regarding the dominie, I also thought I saw a larger plane from the wreckage at first, but to be honest, it’s hard to tell when it’s all over South Wales like that. I used to be good in Wing Aircraft Recognition comps too!

Half the reason placenames across wales were spelled incorrectly in the past is due to English administrators and illiteracy.

I’ve seen Dollgelley in old Parish Registers and Censi for example.

I’ve heard Dol-ga-loo from tourists. I’ve also heard Aber-wrist-watch and Penrhyn-cock amongst others. Its sad how many people think it is funny to be completely ignorant of these things yet would take offence or be the first to correct if the shoe was on the other foot.

Just top put the record straight and get back on topic the answer is:

Dol-gell-eye, but the locals will often just use Dol, Mach or Aber for example. ‘Llanfair PG’ possibly being the worlds best shortening of a placename 😉 Lazy bastards, us Welsh.

my sister lives in Peace River & is getting married (in Calgary) in August. I’m already on the plane [;-)]
Probably staying in Canmore – Banff is only a short drive away from Canmore but waaaay more expensive, allegedly

Say Hi to the Drake for me ( http://www.thedrakepub.com ). Spent so many days off getting pissed up in Banff and Canmore. Second best place in the world only to Wales.

The newer BB firmware (I’ve got an 8320 Curve) has a much improved browser (now with a proper cursor) but it will never beat the iPhone for web browsing. However it does a great job of keeping you in touch via email, SMS, IM, Web all in a compact little package which you can type propperly on at a decent pace. I still think it is the best allrounder. Get a newer one with GPS AND WiFI (it was one or the other when I got mine) and you’ll be able to use trekbuddy.

Twitter do not send updates via SMS in the UK anymore. They used to, but could not agree a contract with the network providers. Now, you would be better off using the website, or a client such as Twhirl, TwitterBerry or Tweetie depending on platform.

We went to Barbados. OK so it might rain once or twice a day but it’s usually a torrential downpour for no longer than 10 minutes and then its back to blue skies and 30C all day. We spent a large ammount of time just reading by the pool or out on catamarans.
