I’ll be there. Driving up on Sunday morning as I’m local and don’t want to be tempted by the beer tent before an Enduro!

Riding the ’09 Merlin Malt 2 and yet to make tyre selectin but probably Speed Kings or Mountain Kings.

Come up the M3 onto the A316 and turn right at Richmond. Up the hill, Past the star and Garter and your in.

Is there much riding to be had off-road in the park anyway? There used to be a good little singletrack downhill from Richmond Gate towards Ham Gate. But this is going back 17 years.

Just about to build our first planter. Sounds like it’s the time of year for Potatoes and we’re big potato eaters so that will be going in first. What else is good for planting around now?

Thanks for the videos. I have a DVD from a UK trainer which I borrowed which contains a 10 min warmup, 20 min ride, 20 min hillclimb and some interval work. You can mix and match the rides as you please to form a workout but they get a little boring after a while. Nice to see some home made (and free!) vids out there. I’d been thinking of making similar.

I’m starting to panic regarding fitness levels. Every time I read the ascent figures people are posting i brick it. Will be ramping up the miles over the weekend. Summit after work tomorrow. Conti Saturday morning and Conti or Climachx on Sunday. I’m fine with a 3 hour,500m ascent,25 miler but the Dyfi is a big step up from that on paper.

I was going to ask a reba question so might aswell tag it on here. I keep finding that I’m nose diving badly after large steps, to the point where I’m on the verge of going over the bars. I should probably just pull the bars up and learn to drop properly but I’m sure I could ride them a little better if the work wasn’t compressing so much. I’m 14.5 stone and using 09 rebas as set from the shop. no fork pump to hand but I can get access to one. Anyone care to recommend a setting?

Gotta love the intro to the Dan Lacey one. I figure they spend a lot of time going through that shit to get a 5 min film together.

Thought the whole idea was that they were attractive so that their mother would not abandon them while they were young and insecure. I know it doesn’t always work out this way but the idea is sound.

    I can’t abide them personally.

They ensure that pay negotiations delay our annual pay increases by 9-12 months every year without fail. Not so bad if they managed to get an increase over the initial govt. offer but they never do! I doubled my pay increase over the past few years by saving on Union dues.

    How is the chain tensioned?

I was using an on-one tensioner copy from eBay but I needed to take some links out of the chain. On doing so I found that the chain was so tight when I put it on again, the tensioner was completely redundant. I might find that the chain (a cheapo £5 Miche 1/8 track jobbie) stretches, but for now it’s working great. running 32:16 and it’s an 18″ frame.

Yeh I was loitering about at the end of the Ystywth CC 10 mile TT last week and one of the ladies was recounting the tail of patching some poor souls knee up after severing a ligament or something similarly nasty. Sounds very much like it was Mr Reed. Doesn’t seem to have caused any long term damage though as he leaves me for dead on up and down hills :D (admittedly not a claim to fame or fitness)

I surprised myself by blubbing along with Ellen MacArthur when reading Taking on the World ( http://www.librarything.com/work/123453 ). Can’t really explain it other than the emotional journey she took during the book to compete in the Vendee Globe was a journey I shared. I’ll go MTFU now.

I’m another one who would like some confidence in the air. I used to have loads as a kid but on returning to biking after 14 years off, I don’t seem to have the skills anymore.

Don’t pull over to let them catch up only to find they are coming up alongside at the same time. Queue much endoing and falling sideways and over bars. Tears followed quickly. Wife needed a large Magnum icecream before things were truely mended. This was only a few hours ago

Thanks for sharing. This is the 2nd commute vid I’ve seen on here and I really enjoy them for some reason. I’d been interested in doing one myself but never considered using the PowerShot I have right infront of me. The movie mode is surprisingly good. Mount details would be very interesting. Also does anyone know GB/hour for storage?

I’ve got an HD version of this downloaded somewhere. One of my favourite timelaps vids.

Keep wanting to do some myself but can’t afford a timed shutter. Anyone know of a schematic for a homebuild? can’t be much more than a 555 timer (remembers something from GCSE CDT)

Like Harry our DC01 is going fine except I had to buy a replacement handle fron ebay when ours broke. It’s not the greatest vacuum in the world though. I’d be interested in trying a Henry given they get rave reviews everywhere you look from people using them to destruction, except they don’t destruct!

I grew up in Twickenham and you just get used to it. I’ve traded concord and 747s for hawks and F15s now and I still look up to watch every single time something goes over. Never understood all the fuss about noise levels really.

If you could be out of bed REALLY early, you could meet the Ystwyth MTB boys for a quick ride. Home in Dol by 10AM!

    Hmmm

Audi check! (sold the TT for an RX8)
Fat check (far too many years off the bike being corrected now)
Rigid Singlespeed check! 94 Cincercone conversion in the shed.
Job title “Software (check!) Engineer (check!)”
    Argumentative check!
English FAIL. Despite being 16 years in Twickers AKA HQ, I consider myself Welsh Canadian
Trail Centre check! (Nant yr Arian a few minutes ride from the front door)

Only joined in Jan after the crash. Already feel at home thanks guys ;D
