    Honestly it’s a beautiful area with hundreds of miles of trails for walking, skiing, climbing. Fantastic rivers for canoeing. I used to guide on the Bow, North Sask and Kootenay rivers and lead 5 day trail expeditions in the area. Spent a lot of time off in Canmore. Try the Drake ( http://www.thedrakepub.com ) used to have good live music of an evening and a good atmoshpere. Don’t ask what the sign above the bar says (it reads ‘IYAMWTMTYOMAD’). Beware bears if you hit the trails. Seek advice from the RCMP/Wardens first and you’ll be fine.

    I think I’ll share that thread with the wife tonight so she knows she’s not alone. Had a good giggle reading through it.

    What are peoples experiences of the Garmin 705’s HRM features?

    Nope. I take the same shimano size as I do for all other footwear.

    Doesn’t look that avoidable to me. The Audi is turning left out of a junction.

    What’s the climbing like at Eastnor? I’m on a retrobike team and I’ve failed to secure a retro steed (pre ’98) in time so it looks like I might have to use the ’94 Cindercone singlespeed. I’m a bit rubbish on the climbs and spent half the dyfi in in the granny ring. DO I stand a hope in hell of getting up the climbs with a 32:16 SS rig?

    Stayed at Rynys a couple weeks ago and it was awesome. Very nice welcome by the owners and they pride themselves on keeping the place spotless. Lovely interesting location and the pub at the bottom of the hill is close enough for food and essential liquids. My Sister-in-law has been staying there for years and says it’s always been wonderful.

    Is there a good chart/calendar of the planting times for all the various seeds and plants? It would be goot to see at a glance what I should be planting when next year.

    wrong. Real cyclists will not give a toss what you are riding.

    Here’s my road warrior nearing completion. Made from 2nd hand bits off here and elsewhere for around 200 quid tops.

    Bit of an update.

    Salad Leaves:

    We’ve already plundered this bed once for a lovely salad, and it’s growing faster than we can eat it. I’m planning new ways to eat more salad! Some sort of mixed lettuce on the right didn’t seem to take so well. Think maybe the cats got to the seeds before they took.

    Deep Bed”

    Potatoes on the left have just been buried again but are coming back STRONG every day. Should be bountiful crop from them. Pumpkins, Leeks ,Carrots, courgettes (thanks to Martyntr for a few of these) on the right starting to take quite nicely but early days for them. I almost killed them in the conservatory first :blush:

    Are there cheaper alternatives to the Ergon ones? I fancy some for the commuter with bar ends.

    Rhyl only has 1 bloody l, and IIRC the tyres were not considered to be contributory to the tragic accident.

    As for your IT guy, well I’ve been there with 11 points and I finally learned to drive within the limits. over 4 years ago since my last set of points now and I’m back on a clean license. I don’t see how not having use of a car means you can’t work though.

    Conti Double Fighter 2s ? 1.95″ fast tread in middle but knobblies on the edge for the mud and rocks.

    Took the wife around Llyn Brenig last week. Virtually flat fire road for the most part with a little singletrack which can be bypassed by a mile on road instead. Pleasent scenery and doable by all the family. Proved popular when we were there.

    Doubt you’ll find anything quicker than the 1″ slicks out there. Conti Grand Prix is another to consider. It’s what I’ve got on mine.

    Whereas I got 32:16 to work perfectly on an 18″ frame (1994 Cindercone) and a standard 1/8 chain. All without filing (by me at least. It had 4 owners on retrobike before me).

    RudeBoy nonne of that about Macs and Canons makes any sense whatsoever. Memory cards are formatted as FAT32. I am not aware of any issues in running Canon cameras with Macs. I’ve used a 300D with a Powerbook and MacPro, a 30D with a PowerBook and MacPro, and a Powershot 1000SX 100 with a MacPro. The 300D and 30D were mainly using RAW files and the Powershot, JPEG.

    $_REQUEST is an associative array so you can just iterate over it to print every value if you like. It’s not recomended as there may be other data in there (especially if you are using a framework for example) but it might do for your requirements

    <?php
    foreach ($_REQUEST as $key => $value) {
    echo “{$key} – {$value}\n”;
    }
    ?>

    usually though you would address each variable as required from $_REQUEST e.g. echo “{$_REQUEST[‘FirstName’]}\n”;

    I can’t speak for Tesco as the nearest store is over an hour away but to cooment on the local butchers vs supermarkets argument, We’ve switched to buying all of our meet where possible from the butchers now ans the quality is supremely better than Morrisons. Prices seem slightly better at the butchers too although we’ve not done a like for like comparison.

    Same goes for the greengrocers although we do love the bread from Morrisons. Still searching for a local baker who can match them.

    We were prepared for a washout. A group from mtbwales had planned to come up to Nant so a loop was put together to take in all the best trails and descents only for the rain to put them all off from driving up. Sheep were spotted in 2s heading down the hard shoulder to Noah who was spotted at Port Talbot seervices.

    We met (3 locals) at Nant in the pissing rain and within 30 minutes a break appeared, got he bikes out and decided to head off. Not a drop of rain for the next 4 hours until we were safely packed up and leaving the carpark for home. The sun even came out for a while!

    Incidentally the Conti MK 2.2 Protections were absolutely fine all day.

    SO it turns out that all the people photographed and “quoted” on the leaflet are infact just American models from a Stock photograph.

    Axis webcam with it’s own internal web server and a waterproof housing shouldn’t cost more than 1000 quid with any luck.
