Doing a bit of campsite tinkering with my rear indexing at SITS this year and I took the bike for a test run around the tree by our tent area and burried the front wheel into an unseen trough in the deep grass. Queue me forwards rolling with bike still clipped in. Nobody let on that they'd seen it but I know everyone did!

Just to chuck my two penneth in. I worked out there over (Canmore and Calgary) the summers in 96 and 97 for 4 months a piece and I found the people in my sector (outdoor leadership) to be some of the most open, friendly and liberal people I've ever met. I've seriously considered emigrating in the past (I'm a Canadian by birth so I hold a passport but had only been resident for a year or so before coming to the UK). I'd looked into Nova Scotia, Ontario and Alberta/BC. Cost of living will be higher in Ontario and especially Toronto. I can see how some people in other sectors like the building trades or agriculture might be less liberal but can you honestly say the Brits are any different?

PS How was Canmore John? I used to Love the Drake Inn!

    Cup of tea = nice.
    Choc digestive = nice.
    Tea PLUS digestive, bleeding lovely.

Thats it. I'm off to put the kettle on. damn you!

I quit the fags just over a year ago. Went from 20 Marlboro Lights a day to nothing. never faltered (though I had many times in the past when trying to give up).

I find I have to associate smoking with the negatives. e.g. your sense of smell soon comes back and you realise how rank stale smoke smells. Focus on this every time you smell it and associate it with the cons of smoking. Along with the obvious health benefits, I found this was enough to condition my brain out of the old 'a fag would be lovely with this pint/coffee' scenarios which I used to create.

Giving up is only hard for the first 48 hours. the first week is still a bit hard, and then you are on easy terrain until you forget you ever smoked.

    Best of luck to you.

another vote for Hope Hoops using Stans 355 rims here… I have that set up for 26" and 29" and no probs yet (and not heard anything negative at all). The Stans rims are expensive alone, but no extra over the Mavic rims when bought as part of the Hope Hoops.

Please excuse my ignorance, but WTF are Hope Hoops? If, in the above example, the rims are Stans, and the hubs are Pro IIs. Is it just a nickname for a build from the Hope factory or something?

I thought this was full now but the website still seems to allow you to buy a place. I'm pondering a last minute change of mind and heading down afterall.

"Actually, I haven't heard from Lance in a while," Commerford says. "Maybe it's because if you're friends with George Bush, you're not allowed to ride with the bass player from Rage Against the Machine!"

Aww 7 hours on course and none of me :( Anyone got any of 417? My race number might have been a little hard to read. I'd have been in a retrobike black jersey with blue and white giro helmet and 3/4 black bibs on a goldish Merlin Malt. I recall getting photographed tonnes with nice DSLRs and off camera flash but I can't seem to find anything.

I can not be sure it was the same model, but my cousin had some Formula levers which did this and he found out that there was a known problem, and should be waranty replaceable.

Absolutely shocking service. Item will not be in stock anyway.

I recently ordered a Saris Bones rack via eBay and they had not contacted us after over a week. Phoned up and got some bull about paypal clearance (on a well used and established paypal account). Waited a few more days then they said that the delivery driver had failed to deliver it twice and item was returned to depot. We asked for a tracking number but were not given one. we also gave delivery company our phone number so they could find us next time. A few days later and another phone call, this time they tell us that the item isn't in stock! What absolute c**ktards!

Not sure I understand this post. Surely the service teams pay up and enter like any other team. How are they supported by Pat & Provelo?

Honest question. I'm just none the wiser. I figured they just were allowed leave for such events and turned up and raced self-financed. Or does Pat let them enter for free or something?

As to the Navy, they never seem to enter anything interesting on land.

Who was the kid at the top of the muddy decent chanting 'go left' audibly. Even though I knew full well the good line was down the right all the way, for some reason his hypnosis worked once and I almost came a cropper legging it down the left hand side. Cheeky little scamp was just wanting a pile-up I reckon.

Damn the wasp problem was bad wasn't it! Martyntr's girls built an awesome trap using 2 bowls and tango. They must have caught and killed 20 odd over the weekend and it seemed to keep them at bay very well.

The morning heckling on the final little climb up to the equestrian jumps/bombhole section was awesome on Sunday. Really lifted my spirits. I also enjoyed my night laps once I was out there.

You may aswell do Brechfa seeing as you are in Carmarthen. Then why not add Nant-yr-Arian or some more natural stuff around Elan Valley or Llyn Briane.

I'm reminded of an ancient email meme from the 90s. Excuse the yankisms.

How To Shower Like a Woman
Take off clothing and place it in sectioned laundry hamper according to lights and darks. Walk to bathroom wearing long dressing gown. If you see husband along the way, cover up any exposed areas. Look at your womanly physique in the mirror – make mental note to do more sit-ups/leg-lifts, etc. Get in the shower. Use face cloth, arm cloth, leg cloth, long loofah, wide loofah and pumice stone. Wash your hair once with cucumber and sage shampoo with 43 added vitamins. Wash your hair again to make sure it's clean. Condition your hair with grapefruit mint conditioner. Wash your face with crushed apricot facial scrub for 10 minutes until red. Wash entire rest of body with ginger nut and jaffa cake body wash. Rinse conditioner off hair. Shave armpits and legs. Turn off shower. Squeegee off all wet surfaces in shower. Spray mold spots with Tilex. Get out of shower. Dry with towel the size of a small country. Wrap hair in super absorbent towel. Return to bedroom wearing long dressing gown and towel on head. If you see husband along the way, cover up any exposed areas.

How To Shower Like a Man
Take off clothes while sitting on the edge of the bed and leave them in a pile. Walk naked to the bathroom. If you see wife along the way, shake wiener at her making the 'woo-woo' sound. Look at your manly physique in the mirror. Admire the size of your wiener and scratch your butt. Get in the shower. Wash your face. Wash your armpits. Blow your nose in your hands and let the water rinse them off. Fart and laugh at how loud it sounds in the shower. Spend majority of time washing privates and surrounding area. Wash your butt, leaving those coarse butt hairs stuck on the soap. Wash your hair. Make a Shampoo Mohawk. Pee. Rinse off and get out of shower. Partially dry off. Fail to notice water on floor because curtain was hanging out of tub the whole time. Admire wiener size in mirror again. Leave shower curtain open, wet mat on floor, light and fan on. Return to bedroom with towel around waist. If you pass wife, pull off towel, shake wiener at her and make the 'woo-woo' sound again. Throw wet towel on bed.

Is there a definitive list of all the current axle technologies out there? I've heard all sorts mentioned. 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 20mm, maxle… some of these are probably the same but I'm a little confused. Must be a pain for hub manufacturers!
