Love them. Not sure what's wrong with them either.

Nice shot of Geraint Thomas there. He lead the lead bunch until the pack caught them at 1.5Km to go apparently. Took 2 sprints along the way. I was hoping for a stage win out of him but it seems he couldn't quite hold them off. Still he's up in 6th in GC now.

Second Douwe Egberts if you really want instant.

Cowboy Coffee is the traditional method of making coffee in the wild and It does taste better, but some don't like the bits in the bottom.

Plenty of exposed slate around here in Mid Wales and I've personally put 1 of our club in the big red helicopter with a knee injury and another member narrowly missed out on the heli and had to be ambulanced away with another knee injury all within 18 months or so, so It's a no brainer. I like my knees, and don't fancy being housebound for 6 weeks if I go down on them hard.

OK I'll call your bluffs :) Willing to try again. Anyone know of a guard suitable for 26×1.2" slicks on an MTB frame as above?

    I have tried full guards.

    This was my first commuter:

    Heavyweight steel monster:

    But then I went lightweight

And I honestly don't really notice the difference. In Wales, when it rains, you know about it, regardless of guards. Wear effective clothing instead.

I'm going to start wearing shades though as I took the long way home last night down some tiny back lanes and seemed to be getting hit by flies at 30MPH all the time. One in the eye would have been nasty.

I really don't get the mudguard thing. If it's raining, I'll be in waterproof 3/4 shorts and a waterproof high vis jacket. What benefit do the guards add?

Previous auction sounds like he might be some sort of debt collector/liquidator/loan shark selling items he doesn't understand.

DHB pad does feel a little odd, or larger than others but it does he trick and the price is right. Quality seems up there for budget too.

LOL. Someones updated his wiki entry

Martin was brought up on a farm and has managed to retain the manners and ability of the lowest of farm animals. He drives large fast cars to compensate for rather small sexual organs and takes out his frustration at his lack of prowess in any field on cyclists.

You might like the Conti 26 x 1.2 Ultragatorskin unless you really need 1.7s. I run the 26 x 1.2 Grand Prix on mine and they are awesomely fast. The Ultragatorskins have extra puncture protection, and that might be worthwhile as my GPs punctured on my 3rd ever commute. Probably just bad luck but worth thinking about.

Mazda RX8 because I wanted one last coupe but also child friendly for any possible family growths in the next couple years. And they're dirt cheap if you don't do many miles. Fun too :)

How about some of the 26" cross tyres which were mentioned in another thread.

Grimy, I'd LOVE to know how you get on with that. I've had the manual for a while and have contemplated removing the spacer before. Sounds like it would be worth experimenting with it. Position on the bike otherwise seems fine so its good to know I'm not alone :)

Oh I'm in Mid Wales but thanks for the offer :D

Thanks guys. My poplock is slightly broken as the cable outer has snapped under the lever unit so the cable sometimes rubs. However, it does always work when pushing the lever down (locking out / increasing compression). Would it be worth doing this before any steep technical sections perhaps?

It's only a 100mm travel reba. I don't know how you describe a Malt. It's not out and out XC Race but it's a short travel XC hardtail I guess.

Since this pic, I've raised the seat and added 20PSI to +ve pressure which raised the fork about 10mm.

Coffeeking I fear you have missed most of Flickrs interactivity. If you want notifications of others new photos view your contacts photos page.

If you want groups, then try the singletrack group for likeminded STWers.

Tagging isn't there yet, but notes are and you can add people this way if you wish to link, but admittedly it's not quite the same.

I'm running the Conti Grand Prix on my commuter. 26×1.2

    http://www.conti-tyres.co.uk/conticycle/ti%20grand%20prix.shtml

They're VERY fast. Probably the fastest rolling 26" tyre I've seen, and grippy in the Black Chili too.

Because there aren't any malt 1s in stock according to that page. Shame though, I've got a Malt 2 and it's just a lighter version of the same frame design and It's great for the money.

250g butchers best mince (supermarket stuff will work but butchers always better)
    couple tablespoons of soy
    couple tablespoons of worcester sauce
    1 tablespoon of natural yogurt
    plenty of ground pepper

makes for a lovely juicy traditional beef burger.

I'm doing OK with a Polaris Dayglo Orange jacket I picked up in Halfords for under 30 quid IIRC. Zip pocket on front for keys and stuff. Cycling specific cut. I do get very sweaty but that's aprtly due to the 20 mins of climbing on my route, and I run hot.

EDIT: It's 35 here but I think there must have been an offer on in store when I got mine.

It's been cool to hate Jamie Oliver for a long while now. Surprised noone has brought out the 'fat tongued tw*t' comment for all to chortle along with.

    Grow up children :/
