    Bump!

Had a week in Courchevel 1850 last week. Bonza.

    Highlights
Taking advantage of the one sunny day to go all the way past VT to the Fourth Valley and back again
Remembering how much I love snowboarding after a 7 year gap
The powder on the last day
Finally managing to get a week away after it looked like it wasn’t going to happen for ages

    Lowlights
Catching an edge in flat light and breaking my binding
Getting motion sickness on one day, the light was so flat!

Looking forward to next season already. Planning on taking the family for a week and then catching a cheeky last minute deal with the lads.

Thanks for all the smiles this season!

Well I’ll post my highlights once I’m back from my only trip this season on the 21st! Conditions are looking good in the 3Vs at the moment, hope it lasts another week!

No update for me yet and I’m confused because like the o.p. I have a sensation on T-Mobile!

There are plenty of deals around the £300 mark to Tignes and other high altitude resorts, those are for catered chalets, flights from Gatwick and transfers.

I’m in Devon so would need a Gatwick or Bristol flight.

Been watching this thread all winter, it’s provided hours of amusement! I have a pass to go snowboarding for a week after Easter (14th April) and there are some blinding deals, BUT I need a +1. Anyone fancy it? Or know of a way of finding someone who might?

Thanks GJP. My other half was also on mirtazirpine for a while but really didn’t get on with it. And I’ve heard the ‘last chance saloon’ stuff as well for venlafaxine.
It’s tough because she was through it after baby no.1 in 9 months, and we’re quite a way past that now. Can’t be that much longer to go!

In terms of talking therapies, she is on the waiting list for some group therapy (compassionate mind and mindfulness based parenting) but probably not coming through for a few more weeks. The medical professionals have said that severe pnd doesn’t really respond to talking therapies, so they want to get her mood etc back on track before putting them in place.
Me and the 6 y.o. have had more counselling than mum has, me through the childrens centre and the bairn through the school nurse!
Although she has had episodes of anxiety and depression on a number of occasions the only times she has ever got close to being this bad has been after babies.
Thanks for all your good vibes. And it’s not escaped my notice that it is valentine’s day :-)

Iodious – my issue or the OPs? Apologies to OP for hijack if mine!

And if it was my issue then clearly a sorry tale of an ‘upgrade’ that borks something …

No problem with signal on mine (T-mobile) but it does have a random error whereby pressing the home button takes a screenshot. I know it is supposed to if you hold down power and then home, but this is just using home on it’s own. Turning the screen off and back on again fixes it.

    Anyone else had the same?

    Morning all …
Staying with my brother and his heavily pregnant other half. My 6 y.o. daughter trots into my room at 5:30, ouch. After 5 minutes realise her 1 y.o. sister is awake. Make bottle, wake up mad spaniel and therefore the whole house. Everyone back to bed, but no sleep so give up and come downstairs.
Watching cat in the hat. More coffee needed.
Good insight into the future for my bro though ;)

I finished the single player MW3 campaign after 8 hours play and tbh was a bit disappointed. Good story with a few nice twists, but could have done with being 50% longer when you’ve paid £40 for it! But then I guess that’s where the multiplayer comes in.

I’ve never played any of the Battlefield games but I can hear BF3 calling out to me …

Thanks everyone for your replies. Prompted by the thread on ‘tinker, tailor, soldier, spy’ I see that it is the Big Scream film on Monday at Exeter Picturehouse. Result!

Wow. You lot are ace. Definitely getting a bit dusty in here. Funny it was also dusty in the supermarket queue earlier on when I was catching up with some of the posts.

I’m in Honiton so we have the playdome on the edge of town and we also have escot membership so that occupies the older one for ages! Good suggestions for groups and things, I’ll get down to the childrens centre tomorrow and have a chat.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Devondadbike.net definitely has legs. Or wheels I suppose …

Andy – yes it sucks big time. Two attempts to end her life in the last 3 months, the most recent on my birthday :-(

What’s worst is that the meds don’t seem to be touching it, she is 4 weeks through her fourth different medication and it really doesn’t seem to be helping. She had it after our older daughter was born and recovered, so I have to keep hanging onto that.

eviljoe – dadandbike sounds good! Are you planning on catching any of the ToB tomorrow?

I agree on the thinking around house prices dropping. Certainly no sense in rushing to spend the money.

Took my 4.5 y.o. daughter to magna last summer at the suggestion of the grandparents. All was well until we walked round the corner from the lobby into what I can only describe as the gates of hell … huge projections of blast furnaces, deafening crashes and bangs, all in the biggest empty space I’ve ever seen. My little one leapt from a standing start to grab me round the neck, I’ve never seen anything like it!
Once we’d made it past the initial shock she enjoyed it, particularly the water and electricity bit. Might think twice about going again though!

    Thanks for your tips all!
I think it is going to be a bit beyond my level of skill/bravery so I spoke to my friendly plumber yesterday and he recommended I go ahead and buy one and he’ll fit it.

His suggestion was that I don’t get a programmable wireless thermostat, instead get a wireless thermostat – what does the hive mind think? I reckon I’d like to still tell it to come on at a specific time but is that negating the point of a thermostat and going back to what I had before?!

@Zedsdead where did you see the craghoppers one? Sounds ideal but I can’t find it on their website …

Had a massive blazing row with my darling other half last night as we’ve got 22 (yes TWENTY TWO!!) 5 year olds coming to my daughters party in a fortnights time and she (my other half not my daughter) is 26 weeks pregnant, we’ll have my parents around to ‘help’ and I leave for a fortnight’s work trip to South Africa two days later!

At least it’s only 2 hours tho …

And in terms of useful suggestions, second the DVD, send them on a nature hike with an (empty) matchbox and get them to fill it with cool stuff, make, bake and decorate some ginger bread men, find a big field and set them some challenges involving running from end to the other.

    Enjoy!

Newcott Chef just before Honiton. A proper full on greasy spoon, and the logo has a certain similarity to a well known brand …

It’s closing down soon as well :-(
