Sue_W, I think you have done the right thing, as i said I still have time to listen to my ex mother-in-law’s gripes about my ex and me and everything else. I think cutting people of completely is a way to a lonely life. Lets face it she was a big part of your life for a long time and it will be nice to look back and know you did the right thing. You have also proved you can deal with emotional stuff in a mature way – well done you :wink:

My ex mother-in-law still calls me occasionally 20 years after the split. She is bloody hard work and I often wish she wouldn’t. But I’m too polite to say so. I have settled for never calling her and crossing my fingers that she’ll loose my number – or that no one gives her my new one.

PePPeR – good link o section ‘J’ which was the point i was trying to make, HETAS has to comply to this as does everyone else. Bear in mind the last stove I installed was 2 weeks ago. So my research is pretty up to date. Pleas be careful on this and use a decent fitter!

I ‘think’ that according to section J of the building regulations it is now ‘compulsory’ to have a flue liner. Otherwise it will not be HETAS certified. It is worth checking as if anything goes wrong your insurance might not pay out!

I had an orange frame powder coated a few years ago, can’t remember who did it or how much ( place that had done car wheels and stuff for us before) but it looked gorgeous! So it is well worth it if you like the frame :-)

I think ‘racism’ is a subject around which there is still so much ignorance it is hard to believe. For example it is pretty well understood that legislation is only a small part of the answer to this ans so must be taken as a starting point. But sadly how many people don’t even realise how badly they abuse even the most basic legal requirements – even enlightened folks who never say “I’m not a racist but . . .”

slimjim78 – I went to one meeting only, all those present were white middle class men, and the telling of racist and sexist jokes seemed to be the rule rather than the exception. I found it offensive, I’m sure there are meetings where this does no happen, I was not generalising to the whole organisation.

There is much more to sexismsm than ‘Women members’

and much more to racism than ‘Black & Asian members’

Yes, I know how that feels, you are upfront an honest with someone but they are so cynical ans suspicious they find fault where there are none. It’s like two people walking though the countryside, one sees the flowers and the trees and says ‘life is beautiful’ the other keeps turning over rocks and then complains that ‘It’s full of creepy crawlies’ some people have half empty souls to match their half empty glasses!

If they are just bullying comments they sort of backfire as they are often meaningless, unless they are overtly rude there is a good chance the message will not get across. So all in all a waste of time?
