Whenever I have looked in there they seem very expensive, considering they are just fencing stolen gear.

I agree shoot them! You probably wont need to shoot them all, you will find that after a few shots they will get wise and clear off. If you lived close to me I would come round and shoot them for you.

I have just been on the phone to the same company! Last winter in the snow and ice a van collided with mine at very slow speeds did no damage to mine (rear end) and cracked his indicator. He is now claiming the accident was my fault and wants money from my insurance & he now has a witness!

every time I get a letter from them it is threatening action as I failed to reply to a previous letter, though they never send the first letter.

    It is very frustrating :(

Well Hora, you have made me smile, tales of the sort of things many of us did in our youth. Looking back they were funny but some things do hurt at the time I’m sure.

because on principle, I wouldn’t sleep with her.

What principle is this? I have no moral compass and need frequent re-directing

But I do agree with Rachel as I am also a creep

Not sure I buy the hypocritical angle so much either. An analogy would be with coal. Digging it out of the ground and burning it is a dirty, smelly and dangerous process and one I wouldn’t do, yet I’ll happily use electricity. I think that makes me sensible rather than hypocritical.

I guess there’s a finer line where people claim to love animals and also eat them Is it possible to do both, I wonder?

Two excellent points, I suppose using petrol comes in there somewhere!

As for loving animals and eating them, how about the cat owning vegetarians? do they feed their cats on vegetables or rabbit meat cat food and tuna chunks? all of the meat content farmed in the same inhumane ways. Do they find the cats cruel when they kill birds and mice (despite them not being hungry or needing to)? But it is in their nature they are cats, well we are human beings, the most successful hunters on the planet!

But then life is full of contradiction and compromise!

I find this very funny, so far eating meat has been compared to:

    Dropping litter
    keeping slaves
    Marital rape

have I missed any out?

so are vegetarians allowed to wear mole skin trousers?

muddydwarf – you do have a point! I will eat pretty much anything and respect other peoples rights to do so, but why try to make artificial meat products? if you are a veggie why would you want to eat something that looks like and/or tastes like meat?

And don’t get me started an alcohol free beer!

TJ, the LGO can work very well, but as i said just be very careful with the wording of your complaint as it has to fall within the bounds of things they investigate – I was a local government officer for longer than I should have been and have seen the council get shafted in this manner quite a few times

you can order digests of their old cases for free and a good read of a few will be very enlightening!

thomthumb – I’m supposed to have some good reasoned logic to why I abstain from eating certain things, and be ready to present and prefer for rebuttal at all occasions.

No, In fact I think it’s better if you don’t! The most justified reason for following a particular dietary path is probably “because I want to”

It’s when people try to explain that the trouble unusually starts

TJ, I would hate to be involved in a documentary!

This may seem obvious so excuse me if I am insulting you – have you looked into complaining about the local authorities actions through the ‘Local Government Ombudsman’? The best way is to read their rules thoroughly first as they relate to the things the council is obliged to do. I have been successful in several complaints by framing the councils action within the Ombudsman’s rules – for (a hypothetical) example: failesupervisingon of the contractors could be seen as bad administration.

It’s not simple to ‘construct’ a good complaint to them but can be well worth the effort.

bigyin – read my last post, it is possible that as many animals die in the production of vegetable based foods as in meat based foods. And they die in some horrible and fairly unregulated ways! But this is something most ‘preachers’ seem entirely ignorant of.

I remember a thread by ‘desperategit’ where one poster said something along the lines of “women are not turned on by sex toys” I chuckled and wondered what Anne Summers would say to that.

Of all the sex toys sold, how manareae aimed at men?

It seems like transference to me, and it’s not men who are the sex crazed perverts they are pictured as.

On the ‘not killing animals’ thing, what astounds me is the wanton slaughter of wildlife to produce vegetables and cereal crops. Pigeons, Gulls, crows, rabbits, rats mice, are slaughtered – by often very inhumane means – in their thousands (if not millions) on a daily basis. Otherwise their population would expand at an alarming rate and destroy all those lovely vegetables and grains before we could eat them. I know this population expansion is largely down to factory farming vegetables and grain for human food. But still, lots of wild animal die, trapped, poisoned, shot, etc. for our grain – is than not as cruel as eating meat? discuss.

“At the other end of the age range, sexually active older women are now widely eroticised (albeit often with a rather misogynistic undertone) as “cougars” or (forgive me) “Milfs” while their male equivalents are disparaged as dirty old men. “

Interesting article, I think it puts into words quite well something we have all heard, maybe event felt, but not quite put all the elements together. In my opinion (heterosexual) men’s sexuality is both demonised and exploited – Sex sells, but the buyers are dirty old perverts! :?

Don’t have any personal experience of this, but what always strikes me is what happens if you need to dig up a section to repair drains or cables? would it be possible to ‘patch up’ with out making a mess?

How does it take the weight of heavy vehicles? might not be an issue to you now but it might be in the future.

just things to think about :-)

on of my posts seems to have gone AWOL, I was going to say the same anyway, if we discounted 5 years or less gap and counted up the responses would men be in the majority as the older half of age gap relationships? it appears not, but I can’t be bothered too count the replies – volunteers?

    supertramp
    Free Member

slimjim78 I’m not sure that the man being the older in an age gap relationship is the norm. I think we would have to set a base line figure of say 5 years (though I’m open to suggestions) of difference and then count up the replies outside this range – any volunteers?
