I put up a lot of fences, the trade is moving away from concrete to pressure treated timber posts. Most come with a 10 or 15 year guarantee! Use pressure treated panels too and there is no need to paint but they do weather to a shade of pale grey. So if you want a nice colour your still going to have to paint them.

I have been in the same situation, spent all morning walloping paint on a massive fence (fence life) then watched it all wash off in the rain!

    if at first you don’t succeed . . . .

the tradition is to lightly roast them then put them on a hard surface pointy end up and crack them with a stone (or whatever) you can eat them raw but apparently small children have difficulty digesting the proteins unless they are lightly cooked first.

Keep it coming I’m making notes- on a first date:

-no weeing in front of her.

    -no injecting stuff

-no breast feeding – why did little Britain just flash before my eyes?

    – no combinations of the above

    anything else I should avoid?

now all I need is a date!

I had an issue with 3 after cancelling the contract they kept billing me and said it wasn’t cancelled. I cancelled again the same happened! In the end they talked me into a product that i didn’t want so I cancelled in the 14 day cooling off period and guess what ….

    They billed me for that!

Cancelled the direct debit – they added a fee to the monthly bills!

In the end I sent a letter to their head office asking them to please stop sending me bills as I had no intention of paying them and that I would let them know if I wanted another contract or service from 3.

a few weeks later another bill, but this time for £0.00 and they have left me alone since.

so send a letter to their head office!

It’s not legal to give you a ticket! I don’t believe the warden has any authority beyond the highway. I had this once and went back, re-parked and took photos. I defended myself in court and won! but that was back in 1998 and things might have changed, but I doubt it.

yep, I broke my left one 30 years ago in a pretty spectacular bike crash – straight over the handlebars. I don’t remember much about it other than it hurt. I still feels a bit odd now :(

    wow, what a response!

A lot of it makes a lot of sense a lot is very funny!

I’m not really looking for one night stands or a stream of strangers ‘I’ll be the one with the red rose’ so maybe no dating sites. The few women I have met who have done the ‘dating thing’ for a while seem either very desperate or very jaded and have very long shopping lists (or lots of soft toys and a dog)

I’m pretty easy going and can accept people have baggage and a past, to be honest I would be (through experience) suspicious of a woman of my age or older who hadn’t! I don’t want to be a sugar daddy. I’m not looking lots of meaningless sex – I had a lot of that in my younger years.

So just a nice woman who can hold a good conversation within 10 (ish) years either side of 45.

your right there must be at least one our there – now where is she?

Does the horse come with Tack and rugs?

if that’s a serious question, he has tack but no rugs as he is happy outdoors in any weather.

if not, then I’m not quick enough to think of a reply

Was there a relationship with the horse? I would count that as baggage

yes, but it was purely platonicic, and the horse consented

Seriously, I am a pretty calm, gentle patient person by nature and I think this may come across as being weak or insecure? do women prefer butch aggressive types?

I have been away for a few days and I am glad to see that so many of you have taken the time to contribute – thanks.

It’s a complicated situation – obviously – but here is my mot recent motivation. I will keep this brief to avoid to much exposure for all concerned so forgive me if it seem sketchy.

My ex has admitted to mentioning this to my son when he became friends with the girl in question at school as she long suspected this. Only recently I found out that he knew this might be possible and so did my daughter. So my ex has been spreading this around to who? and for how long? my main concern is that the young woman concerned will find this out in a very brutal way. Or that she already knows and is already confused?

On the face of it living this ‘lie’ for all these years seems heartless, but is it any more heartless than having a child adopted or being a sperm donor?

I am going to let it lie for the time being but is this just the cowards option?

    hels –

Honesty always the best policy. You might be wrong, after all.

That is – if i shake off all the advice – my stance on this.

maybe I’m still being a coward?

    Phil and yoshimi,
you both have a point, but listening to friends and family has led me to this position as, to be fair, they all have a vested interest and have something to gain or loose by the outcome – strangers don’t and so I felt would be more objective.

I have left it for a few months now and will probably just leave it with them to decide, but that means leaving it with the mother to decide as is that fair on the child?

I have already lost a close friend over this and I am putting myself in the firing line by even trying to resolve it but some things just have to be done.

Shibboleth – are you suggesting that I appeal to Jeremy Kyle :o

    Thanks for the input.

It is against UK laws to obtain a DNA sample for paternity without consent!

    My motivation is mixed.

1, I fell I have been cheated of a chance by the Mothers lies and yes been cowardly in not facing up to this before.

2, I have a close family friend who is adopted and her adoptive father refused her the chance to meet her real father who then died of the cancer he was suffering from at the time he asked to see her. She now has the same form of cancer and the lost opportunity haunts her.

3, I believe the young woman in question may know somehing about this (though I can’t be sure without asking her directly) but I have evidence to suggest strongly that she does.

4, She may want to say something to me, like why did you leave me to grow up on this scruffy estate when your other kids had pony club and expensive holidays, driving lessons, cars etc.

It is complicated and I accept I am no saint in all this, but then neither are any of the 3 adults involved – they deceived her and me – and I let them do it.

It’s weird because the couple concerned have two other kids one older one younger than the girl in question, they look very alike.

She stands out like a sore thumb and looks just like my other older daughter.

I think I will be leaving it fr for the time being, but it is still nice to have your valuable opinions on the matter.

TJ – Yes he does, and I believe he cooked up this ‘I’ll be the Daddy thing’ to won her back and it is the lie that has sustained their relationship. I forgot to add that they are now split and have been for a while.

    Houns – good point!

    Oh, and while I’m here.
Why is it that single woman seem to think that all single men are mad, bad and dangerous to know ?.
Its like some sort of default setting from the factory.

You may want to remove the multiple use of the word ‘single’ from that sentence – it just doesn’t scan

Sue_w – my reply was not intended as a challenge to your statement and I hope it hasn’t offended! It was rather a general point for debate, and maybe clumsily worded – sorry!

But my point is this, are ‘all’ the men who appear to be making advances to ‘all’ the women who fall into this bracket even real or just symptoms of the satiation they (feel free to swap the gender roles in this statement) are in.

Thus creating a situation of more suspicion and mistrust leading to more disappointment and more desperation. Or even leading to a feeling of ‘plenty more fish in the sea’ when in fact the quota is almost up and again more disappointment.

So as I said not a dig, maybe just a wake up call for some of us!

I have read Sue_W’s post and mulled it over:

“From the opposite perspective, how come so many ‘attached’ guys (married / long term partners etc) seem to think that as I’m single I’d of course want to go off with them for a quick and dirty couple of hours before they trot back to their OH’s? erm, no thanks!”

The more I think about it it the more I believe philconsequence:

“…but its flipping frustrating when women go on about men as if every single male wants to cheat on their loving partner with them and are only after one thing.”

There was a topic a while ago that linked to a Guardian article on male sexuality and the way it is often demonized – I think this + the over active imagination of women – dare I say it? – past their prime, makes them believe that every man who makes any sort of gesture of friendship is only after one thing.

Think about it ladies (if there are any middle aged ones on here, and what is middle aged? 40 to 50?) when you look back over the last three months and at all the men you have thought were trying to hit on you (seriously not just a friendly flirt) and then look in the mirror, can you honestly think it its true?

Maybe middle aged men are delusional but it does appear that they are certainly not any more delusional than middle aged women!

there is a scheme called ‘Kid Gloves’ now, the basic skills of boxing are divided into levels and medals are awarded for progress through each stage (no contact involved) so progress is measured in much the same way as coloured belts in other martial arts. Take him he will make friends and have fun!

Boxing is a bit of a family tradition for me, My Grandfather was a pretty well know bare knuckle fighter and we had to follow suit if we liked it or not.

One of my sons is a good boxer, the other kids not interested, but it is a sport that requires intense fitness training and old fashioned hard work. not one of these jumping around in your pyjamas in the community centre oriental arts, they are fine – if you’re a girl!

Only kidding, I’m not really a sexist, in fact I quite like girls

I’m a bit confused too – photos please!

Junkyard’s advice is spot on, only thing to add is that checking for leaks is best done with washing up liquid and water, just slosh some over the joint and watch for bubbles.
