I started out by going on the package style holidays and yes they werent cheap.
We now book our own self catering apartments and sort our own transffers from Geneva. Buy flights early too.

Can be done for about £400 for a week not including beer.

Avoid going out at night stay in and party in the apartment.

    Going out is £££££££

“I assume you like the style of riding on offer in Morzine. TBH it bored me. Fast and jumpy with no real technical interest.”

Where were you riding? You need to go to spec savers .

There’s tonnes of technical riding around the PDS.

The marked trails are fine but its the off piste that makes the PDS shine!

I had a similar experience on the way home from Glentress last year. “Granny” decided it would be a good idea to let my nine year old have a can of rockstar!

She was awake all night !

No save your money and engage the services of a Gas engineer who specialises in your make when/ if your boiler goes faulty.

BG take ages to send someone out who inevitably wont be trained or kitted to repair anything other than a simple fault. You’l wait days for parts and then they will eventually fix.

Sisters boiler went faulty last week. so far they have taken 4 days to come and tell her that they think its the expansion tank and that they’ll need to get a part. Living in Scotland you need heating and hot water at this time of year.

I called the loacl saunier duval engineer and it was fixed that day as he had parts on his van.

    DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

I bought my eight year old a seconf hand Specialized FSR 24. She’s never looked back!
£100 quid on gumtree and I’ll get that back for it once she gets her 26 inch bike in a couple of years.

The weight and brakes alone make it work every penny!

Her previous bike was a POS! Weighed more that my large Yeti 575 and didnt do anything for her confidance at all.

You know it makes sence. But the correct tool for the job not some POS halfords effort…

182 in a mates Nissan Skyline GTR and around 166
    on my Yamaha R1.

Both are very comfortable at these speeds.

Since Ive grown up and had kids I stick to the speed limit now.

We were round the Red at GT today. Spooky wood descent had some very interesting bits to say the least. Below that your good to go.
Brown Ice disguised as mud made for some interesting line choice.

Great to be out on the bike though.

    Lovedit.

You can buy a nine speed 12-36 rear cassette.
Depends on how fit you are but a 32 chainring would give a good spread and a good low ratio for stiff climbs
May spin out on the downhills though.

Dump the 12 on the back for an 11 too help.

I’m assuming that the boss is your partner?

If so ask her to list the amount she spends on:
Shoes, Make up, Hair Do’s, Magazines, Handbags, Nails etc in a month and then tell us it makes sense for you to sell your bike.

    Thanks to the poster.

These have to be the bargain of the year!

Surely a mishap with the pricing???

    All sold out now.

“So you pedal all the time do you?
And also, you can be in an appropriate gear but in the wrong chainring…..”

I’ve never felt the need for shifter windows.Gears are done by feel or by predicting an upshift or downshift as you read the trail.

    Try riding without them!

You’l soon see how spurious they really are..

Its a DIY job for me.

I’m really particular on doing it and take loads of time to make sure everything is done correctly. Others just dont have the time to do it right.
Free running brakes save fuel and wear on other components and makes a car a joy to drive.
I’ve worked on cars that have been to kwikfit and would NEVER take my own car there to have the pads changed.

Shimano XT – Ive been using them for about a year and they are excellent for the money.
No problems with pad wear at all.

Thanks Nash. So far I’ve been very happy with my Yeti so much so that I updgraded my ’08 to a 2012 this year. Great bikes.
May have to claim warranty though and wanted to be sure that my fox 36 talas was acceptable upfront.

Guy at work recons that if you lube them that you risk overtightening them or worse they can come loose.

Must admit I’d rather be able to get them off easily that deal with seized bolts.

One month on a Commencal Supreme DH. One trip to Inners and One trip to Fort William before immediately selling. It was obviously cursed!
I’ve never been so let down by a new bike and its probably put me off buying Commencal ever again.

Rapid download of pretty much anything. Virgin can match the speed but try to tie you into loads of other unwanted services that cost you loads.
    I’m totally sold on Infinity.

Agreed that the adverts a pretty poor but that shouldnt be a reason to not buy a superb product.

    Its a no brainer.

    YES

Spend time watching the DH. Ride all the waymarked trails, the ride all the unmarked trails and if your still alive drive round to laggan 40 mins away and ride there too.

On way home stop at Kinlochleven and ride yourself silly.

Some of the best riding in the country !

I was involved in an evacuation on the DH track this time last year. On my first run down Myself and two friends came across a guys who had dislocated his hip. It one friend contacted the bottom station and a evacuation gondola was sent up from the bottom.
Whilst waiting and comforting this poor guy, countless idiots rolled by at speed taking very little notice or offering any kind of support.

Indeed, when it came to lifting the guy on a stretcher to underneath the wire we had to physically stand in the middle of the track to stop people tearing past us as we carried him to be lifted.

I was shocked at the time how many inconsiderate fools there are in my own sport.
    Really depressing.

Lube rim and bead. Stick tube in. Seat tyre with tube. Deflate tyre remove tube without unseating one bead. Mount again and inflate with compressor.
    All should be good.

I’ve had similar problems with used tyres.

I had a posterior meniscus tear fixed last year on NHS. Identified on MRI post Op a month later and keyhole surgery completed after 3months. Took about 5 weeks to get back on the bike. The tear was apparently alot worse than they thought.
9 months on and I’m very happy with the results.

Running is right out for me now though. Tried it a few weeks ago and my knee was very swollen the next day – No problem though as that means more bike.
Dont worry apparently its a very common op and goes very quickly.

    Good luck

Just back from a week in a campsite near Dalbeattie. The trail has some major diversions in place due to foresting but its still very enjoyable. superb rock features not to hard on climbs.
Ae is by far the worst trail in the area unless your into downhill. Cafe / shop has closed down recently.
Maybie, is a great wee trail although not very challenging since recent upgrades have smoothed out all the good bits.
Kirro – is long and tough, very very good flow and great features.
Drumlanrig, is entirely different to all the others, natural and beautifull.
If i only had two days – Dalbeattie and Drumlanrig with Kirro in third due to the extra drive getting there.

    have fun!

Get some heat onto it. The expansion of dissimilar metals will aid you getting it off. Pour boiling water slowely over it to start with then give it a go. If its going to the coaters anyway you could move up to heat gun / blow torch. Wear gloves and it should come out. Its never failed for me.

When I read your posts its like talking to my father who is ace at negotiating.

Never be afraid to walk away. Remind yourself constantly hard it was to earn the money. Always make out you intend to finance the deal as they make money on you signing up. Pull the rug last minute and pay cash.
They may be nice to your face but most car salesmen I know regard you as fair game. Most would also sell their granny…

    Enjoy the game.

The problem with the whole DPF environmental thing on diesel cars is that it was a system that was hastily invented to meet euro 4 regulations. Its also a pain in the arse that every time you make a change you need to reset the ECU with diagnostics.

Cheepo diagnostics dont work its usually in my experience a dealer rip off. £75 for 2mins work!!!!!
