Tyres are very subjective but I would add another ‘not NN’ vote.
Mountain kings are ok, haven’t experimented enough with others so won’t give opinions. Mates use Specialized tyres and always been impressed with them.

    Enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing!

Ton, I would perhaps be looking at other on one options judging from what you seem to be looking for?
    Parkwood perhaps?

    I agree completely with Njee

My lbs which used to sell the odd road bike now has only about four mtbs. One very cheap, a Saracen Ariel they’ve been trying to sell for two years (yes really) and two others. The rest is cheap hybrid stuff or road bikes.

15 years ago they’d have 50 ish mtbs easily and they were flying out the door. They said that they never get any enquiries about them these days.

Back to the op point, as mentioned above 650b not different enough to bin what works, but due to lack of choice most people will move across as and when they replace either frame or complete bike.

Just had a call…stock mistake dont have the item despite reservation.
    Really annoyed…shouldn’t they check first

Are those handlebars about two foot out of the frame?!

I sometimes check things out to see if there any bargains. What I tend to find is people offering used brakes for a fiver less than the new price on Merlin or CRC. I know what I’d rather buy.

Having said that for frames and bikes there’s a few decent bits to be had. Someone selling a retro Marin full susser yesterday for £20 collected!

I think you are being sensible. stick to your guns, 20% isn’t enough for me.

Broke mine ten years ago. Very painful.

Cast for 8/9 weeks and its been ok since then. Like all bones I’ve broken you do get the occasional ache but let it recover and do your physio and you should be fine

Flyingmm have you checked it’s definitely dead? I had some 15 year old stx-rc shifters that I managed to resuscitate by taking apart completely and simply cleaning (I’m mechanically inept too)

Can honestly say I have not noticed a difference. Parts still posted within a day and with me soon after. Even a full bike was with me less than a week after ordering

My brother runs nobby nics as they came standard with his bike. Not sure if its because they’re cheap compound OEM versions but they puncture ridiculously easily so I’d be concerned enough to change!

Fair enough I take back what I said, I can see the sense in what you are saying faustus (and thisisnotaspoon). It doesn’t apply to you but I do generally think that unless you have a specific reason then stick to what it’s designed for – unlike those frankenbikes where people chuck a 29 front wheel in a 26 rig and suchlike just because they can. But with your point about the dropper and forks I can understand why you’d want to experiment with that.

Back to my first post on here though, when is the built bike out? I have seen frame only on on-one but not the build alluded to with Sektors at £899.

Quite fancy trying a 45650b with 26″ wheels too..anyone tried with success

I don’t get this? Why bother? BB will be lower. Why not use the wheels a frame is designed for?!

When is this available? Couldn’t see it on the website but that might be down to my inept interweb skills

As per legend – it’s done what it’s designed to do in such occurences. There’s a circlip so you should be able to pop it back in without too many difficulties :-)

Nukeproof or nanos for me. Had been using wellgo for years thinking things in the flat pedal world hasn’t moved on. I was wrong, miles more grip with either of those IMHO

OP I don’t think anyone is trying to taunt you.
You asked for an opinion and got (a lot of) responses… Just because you didn’t get the response you want no need to throw your toys out of your pram.

It’s a nice frame that will sell on its own but as mentioned the build itself is obscure. Put it on ebay with a reserve if it sells great if not it only cost a few quid to list.

    Massively overpriced.
As mentioned before liat it on eBay and you’d get a true value.

Deadkenny – Woodbury is surprisingly weatherproof from experience, that said I’ve not been there this week but have in similar conditions and it’s been ok.

Sell your existing forks for spares on here or the Bay and get some Rebas.

My wife sold her HTC a month back – perfect working order (she was using it until the day it was posted) and then got a message from the buyer saying it would not charge and ‘something would need to be done to rectify this’. After politely stating it was fine but that it could be posted back to us the buyer came back saying that she would begrudgingly accept it (but didn’t leave any feedback).

Seems a real pain in the ****, not sure i’d bother again, much easier with ernvirophone or mazuma. Wife also got bombarded with loads of messages offering to buy it now and whether we could post overseas despite the item description stating we wouldn’t do either

Full sussers changed quite a bit from single pivot to new quad link from last year.

Saw these in a magazine a few months ago and was gobsmacked at how ugly they were, but having looked at those pictures above I might have to rethink that.

Read on a thread on bikeradar that they were selling off stock with newer models coming out (presumably/perhaps with the tweaks that Rusty Spanner suuggests.

Having said that there is always a lot of b*$5&#ks written on there, so may be no truth in it.

I was tempted to buy one recently but wanted something designed for a 120mm fork and bigger mud clearance. Great value though, so i’d be keen to know for certain what their plans are.

After years on V8 (copies, i’m a cheapskate) I decided to try something different and went for nukeproofs as CRC had them at a stupid price. Amazed at the difference.

I wear duffs trainers as you can pick up old pairs for next to nothing.

Ridden it plenty of times on a mid-90’s steel rigid kona and its fine, only a couple of juddering bits on the red.

Blue is fun, red is also ok (apart from the last bit on the car park side of the road which I find dull). Only issue I have is with families walking across the trails during the busy parts of the weekend and looking in disgust at you whilst you manically brake trying to avoid hitting their children at pace.

I hope choice remains and 26ers stay put (especially as I am picking up a new 26 inch hardtail this weekend).

Sales of 29ers are self-perpetuating if that is the only option when buying new. It will be interesting to see if 650B gets adopted, but for me (having not ridden one) I’m not sure if the percieved advantages would warrant me updating what I normally ride.

Oh, and it would be nice to read a review of a bike at some point without the same arguments for/against wheel size and just reviewed on it’s merit as a bike!

I’d echo above comments – I think CRC have actually been very reasonable. I’d expect (given it’s not an inconsequential sum of money) that they would have made you wait 15 working days before issuing a refund, as this is how long you have to wait as a sender to complain to Royal Mail for non-delivery.

You say the order was on 20 December – do you know when the item was dispatched? Say it was Friday 21st then I make today the 6/7th working day (depending on whether you include the 21st or not). I would hope that the item would still turn up so you may be lucky. What you do about still paying for the item or being quiet if it does turn up is down to your own conscience, although legally I’d guess that you should inform CRC.

£255 on offer (not sure when it runs out) – seems to fit all of your requirements:
