You can do it the other way too, following the rules upsets all kinds of folk if you start quoting them e.g:

Aye, but that doesn’t give me a great reason for wearing non matching, team kit that I’ve scrounged in the sales.

But they do exist in every walk of life*

Only for those that choose to recognise them….. (adopts zen like pose) Oooooommmm.

Won’t get my weight emailed till tomorrow; but I’m expecting to have put on a couple of lbs.

Ever since I realised that, despite having been written with tongue firmly in cheek, some poor souls were taking them seriously, I go out of my way to offend the rules. 😈

That’s my excuse for wearing any old team kit I can get reduced to buttons in the sales, and I’m sticking to it. I’m not tight, I’m a rebel. 🙂

Wasn’t it explained when the laywer dude said that ‘they’ had something on everyone; suggesting that they could have had something on her as she appeared an unwilling participant.

It was a bit disappointing that the stupid doe eyed speccy young one who kept helping old one hand by braking the rules wasn’t confronted at the end, but you can’t have everything.

In thought it was an OK ending; not very realistic I grant, but entertaining.

Indeed, my better half commented that my arms look a bit spindly. 🙂

One pound to go! Very happy; added some weight training into the mix in the hope of strengthening my core a bit.

All my nice clothes fit me now. Yay!!

Cheers for the advice, Ill use here and YouTube. I’m not planning on doing any electrics or plumbing, it’s mainly things like floor and bathroom tiling, laying lino, wooden flooring, that type of thing. Might have to fit a upvc front door. I won’t know for sure to I get the keys, and my style consultant ( my Mrs 😀 ) has got a feel of the place.

Cheeky weigh yesterday and I’ve managed to lose Judy over a pound somehow, so just under two to target. Hoping to hit that next week then it’s maintenance time….

Just as an update, I removed the calliper, scraped the ends of the post mounts free of any overspray, then got a chair so I could sit while my bike was in the bike stand and really slowly tighten each bolt a tiny bit at a time. This got it so that just a tiny part of the disc was rubbing, and your could see it was ever so slightly out of true. So using an adjustable spanner as a make do truing fork, I managed to straighten it and get rub free running. Yay!

Then I went on a 7 mile quick thrash off road, and the rub has some back ever so slightly for a tiny part of the wheels rotation, so I will try truing them again as I wonder if I was too gentle with it and it’s pinged back to being warped.

I haven’t stepped on the scales since the four day break, but if i haven’t put weight on, there is a leak in my foot, as it’s been four days of beer, chocolate, yummy family meals and snacking. But hey, it’s once a year.

Been back on plan today, so will hold off having an unofficial cheeky weigh in until then I’m the hope the figures look better.

Just treated my frame with boiled linseed oil, so a few days to dry and my build can finally begin!

Takes me ages to warm up for a ride as well, on a road ride sometimes 10 miles or so. It’s an age thing.

When i took up running, in a pair of cheap, but proper, neutral running shoes, i was always having ITB issues on my dodgy leg. I had my gait analysed and I over pronate a lot, so tried some stability ones (mizumo wave inspire’s … Not that pricey, £60 iirc). Massive improvement. Always used stability shoes since.

Possible massive coincidence, and a sample size of 1 and all that, but it worked for me.

My only tip is to try them on and run for a while on the treadmill, as I’ve often found that the ones that suit me aren’t necessarily the most pricey.

Can I ask a dumb question? How do you make sure your bike isn’t nicked while you are tucked up in your tent, as I can’t imagine there is something handy to chain it to out in the wild. Do you just rely on your remote location?

Just emailed in, still at 157, so that’s 2 weeks of no change. To be fair, i had adjusted my MFP target down to loosing .5 lb a week in the hope of a soft landing to target, rather than a bounce when I go back to maintenance calories, so I’m not too fussed. I’m not exercising as much as i want to going forward, so I’m going to concentrate on improving that and keep my intake as it is; as long as i don’t gain while doing this that will be fine. I’m only 3lbs off my ultimate goal after all.

I admit? to being a massive clothes tart. Used to be a mod in the 80’s, and although I’ve left the scooters and scrapping well behind, and my musical tastes have expanded, I still have a compulsive desire to get dressed up to the nines just to pop out for a pint of milk. Agree that the new Farrah stuff is nice; Baker has always been nice and fits skinny blokes well, but if you have a Saintsbury’s near you that does clothes, have a look at their Oxford shirts, they are surprisingly good. However, when it comes to long sleeved Oxfords, you have to mention Brooks brothers.

I’ve got the Clarkes in one of my bikes and they are surprisingly good. One thing to consider over Shimano is that Clarkes sell all of the spares to rebuild them, whereas I understand that with Shimano this isn’t the case, mind you not sure you’d bother for what they cost new.

Has been a week of strict diet and lots of exercise, so had a cheeky unofficial weigh in.

    Stasis. Doh! 🙂

Thanks for the replies; I’ll try and see if the disc is warped as mentioned, as I’m pretty sure I’ve tried all the other suggestions – apart from facing the post mounts. Actually, thinking about it, the fork, although used, only appeared to have been used with cantis or mini v’s, as the bungs were till in the post mount holes for the caliper, so I’ll check for any errant paint.

Thanks for all the replies ~ I went and brought a Topeak one in the end as I was desperate to get out in the sun yesterday and got a decent deal on it so I’ll see how i get on with it.

Denis99 – many thanks for your offer, though.

A few years a go, when I was single and a fairly regular visitor to my local (in other words, every night), I did dry January for the first time.

I had similar ‘no poo’ issues, and it turned out to be my drastically reduced fluid intake. I realise your situation is different but it might be worth getting into the habit of drinking more water throughout the day. If nowt else, it’s a cheap solution!

Dropped a pound in two weeks, which would normally not be so good, but as 5 days out of those 14 I was very off it, as I was working away eating curries and drinking ale, I’m very happy indeed.

I have run out of belt holes (in a good way! 🙂 ) of a belt that my good lady gave me just over a year ago, and deffo need a belt with all my size 32” trousers, even the ones from makes that are renowned for sizing up a bit small.

5 lbs to go, then its an all out assault on fitness, with a bit of vanity weight training.

Yep. Weigh in this Friday by my records. Dreading it, as i was working away for nearly a week and it involved many beers and curries with my work colleague. Flat lining would be a victory for me, but I’m ready for a gain.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one thinking episode 3 was utter garbage. My better half and I actually looked at each other at one point and said ‘oh, come on!’.

The whole thing didn’t make any sense at all at the end. To quote comic book guy, Worst final episode ever!

You don’t surprise me with the lack of reply from Genesis ~ I emailed them for a paint code for a pair of their forks 18 months ago, and have received nowt back.

If you don’t get any joy as regards an alternative supplier of ready made decals, I’m sure Retrodecals (on facebook) can make some for you.

I had a Raleigh Olympus that was purchased from a next door neighbor, actually it was rescued from a ditch where he had dumped it, but that was my only one. When BMX’s hit, I initially had a no brand cheapo from exchange and mart, then after mucho saving, a GT Pro performer frame and forks that I built up, but lots of my mates had Burners.

However, before BMX’s hit the scene where I lived, I hankered after a Raleigh Bomber that was always in my Mums catalog. Remember them?

So do I – I know I’m as slimmer as clothes fit better, but I wish I’d taken progress photos.

Had an unofficial weigh in today; another 2 lbs down, which is encouraging as I had a couple of ‘off plan’ days ( I.e. on the beer!) but stayed on track the rest of the week. This bodes well for when I get to the maintenance stage as me and the good lady have decided we would like a couple of nights a week where we don’t drink / indulge, and eat healthier the rest of the time.
