I was in a petrol station a few years ago. As I was queuing to pay for my fuel I overheard the following exchange between a customer and an assistant:

Customer: I need to some oil for my car.
Assistant: Certainly madam. What car do you have.
    Customer: It’s a green one!

    Stuck on a couple:
    1. Broomstick – tried all obvious connections with Harry Potter and no joy
    2. HARPO on the chalk board

Have you considered hiring a storage locker? I did this when I moved last year. I moved everything non essential into the locker over the week before hand. This left only one vans worth on stuff to move out on the day. This was useful as I was going on holiday the next day and didn’t have time to move everything in one day. It also meant I could move the remaining stuff from the storage locker into the new home over a more leisurely period of time.

Had this recently when selling a recently refurbished house. As far as I remember buyers solicitor was not happy with indemnity police so had to get building control round to sign of the windows installation. Building control charged £250 for 5 minutes work!

I have one as it was the only real solution for my car. Great bit of kit and had no problems with it. Mounts/unmounts in seconds. Never had a problem with any of the mounts loosing suction. I have done some long trips with it, including to Morzine and back with no problems. The first few times I used it I was ultra cautious, but you soon get used to it. The other greate thing is that it leaves no marks when you remove it. Just make sure you keep the suction cups clean.

Do you have a front mech? if so could it be end of cable hitting the crank. I had this for a while and took me a while to figure it out.

I have a 2015 Carbon sight 7.1. I use it for everything from commuting to work, weekends at local trail centres (Swinley, QE Park), South wales (including bike park wales) and have done a week in Morzine. I am extremely happy with it. I previously had a custom built Ibis Mojo and although I was very happy with that bike I would not swap it for my Norco.

Is there room for a bike in the back or is it a roof job?

Yes if you fold the back seats down. This was in a 3Dr hatch. No problem with the Clubman (estate).

What are they like to own? Reliable, comfy, etc?

Reliable – Again Mk2 was better than Mk1 for me. Had a few things go wrong with my Cooper S (steering pump, exhaust manifold). Mk2 I only had for a couple of years but had no problems with it.

Comfy – I can’t speak for a One. They are generally pretty firm, especially with run flats which they come with as standard. Seats were pretty supportive though.

Other things – Great fun to drive if that is your thing. More practical than some people think. I managed a few trips to the Alps for mountain biking with them no problem.

10 years old would be on the border of a Mk1 and Mk2. For running cost go for a Mk2 if possible. The Mk1 I believe had a Crysler engine which wasn’t that efficient. The Mk2 was much better. I have had 2 Mk1 Minis (Cooper and Cooper S) and a Mk2 (Cooper S JCW) and despite the JCW being more powerful it was also the most fuel efficient car I have ever owned!

Have had a Hope Ceramic BB fitted to my Ibis for over 3 years. It is the only bearing on the bike which has not needed to be replaced and is still as smooth as when first fitted. If the bearings do go you can get replacements.

Have you considered a Canyon Strive or Spectral. The framesets are listsed as coming soon, and I think last year they were around the £2K mark.

Looks like a sticker to me.

Seriously – it’s the edge of the frame protection wrap isn’t it?! (see seat tube behind)
That’s exactly what I thought when I saw it!

I have a 2015 Carbon Sight 7.1. I use it for everything from my commute to work, weekend blasts around Swinley and North/South downs and have done a week in Morzine this summer. The bike is more than capable on everything I have ridden on. Certainly it is a more capable bike than I am a rider! My experience has been that it is an excellent climber. I previously had a custom built Ibis Mojo SL which has maybe 2 pounds lighter than my Norco but I would say the that I find my Norco is easier on most climbs, and I only ever use the climb switch when I am riding on the road.

I have a Mk2 M135i. Bike fits in boot with the rear seats folded easily. Not the prettiest of cars (looks like a bread van from the side) but my god it is quick! I have the adaptive dampers and when you set it to comfort the ride is good enough for long journeys. I have done a couple of trips to the Alps in it and I don’t feel beaten up at the the end of the journey. Mine is an auto and although it is not a double clutch it is as good as the DSG I had in mt prvious VW Scirocco.

Any issues with the press – fit BB?

    So far no problems.

I bought a Norco Sight 7.1 back in April. Really happy with it so far. Cannot say I have noticed much in the way of pedal bob. I don’t bother with the climb switch on the shock except on the road. The default settings for the shock seem to be pretty good for me and I haven’t adjusted them yet.

I made a few changes to the spec so far, but these are mainly personal choices (e.g saddle, grips etc) but the standard spec is very good.

wenanwhere have not got around to ordering anything else yet. Did seem to be a couple of other options from UK sellers on eBay, but about 30 grams heavier per pair which would hardly make it worth it.

I tried ordering some last week from this ebayer. He contacted me to say he had sold out and refunded my money.

Bought an ex-demo Sight 7.1 carbon from Evans about 2 weeks ago. So far absolutely loving it. What really surprised me was how well it climbs. Thats not to say that it is disappointing down hill because it really isn’t, but just seems to get up technical climbs so well. I changes the wheels for Roval Traverse SLs which may have something to do with the it.

Likewise. Used them a couple of times and both times order arrived next day. Definitely recommended.

Can’t comment on the Niner but I also got to try a Ripley at the weekend at the Mountain Trax demo event. Of the 3 bikes I tried (Ibis HD3, Ripley and Yeti sb5c) the Ripley was the one that I thought I would like the least and in the end was the one that I really liked. It just felt so quick. Now just need to sell a kidney!

Used them for the first time between XMas and New Year to drive back from the Alps. Started off on 30cm of fresh snow and later on compacted icy snow. This was on an automatic BMW m135i with summer low profile tyres (probably the worst possible combination for snow). All I can say is they worked fantastically. I had a set of chains with me but didn’t bother with them. Only issue I had was restarting on a off camber hill the front end was drifting. I would definitely consider a set for the front as well.

I’ve been wanting to try the Gripshift on my XX1 for a while bug have read quite a few threads on MTBR forums about the shifters dying after next to no use.

I have recently installed XX1 and decided to try Gripshift for a change. The shifter disintegrated whithin 5 minutes of me installing it! I am using a trigger pod now and am happy with that.

The exclusion is total within Swinley Forest, there is to be no riding apart from on the dedicated and signposted trails.

The fire roads are still also available.

I have been running one for about a year. I was skeptical when I first bought one. I bought it to see what the fuss was about with the idea to sell it if I didn’t get on with it. I can honestly say it has transformed my riding. I use it way more than I ever thought I would.

Most of the time I only drop it a couple of centimeters so I would recommend one which is infinitely adjustable
