    @DaveRambo
Totally agree. Doesn´t matter if he gets records or not, he´s a genius.

I´d be much happier listening to what he´d have to say during the tdf commentary rather than Boardman.

Whatever a professional chef tells you he cooks at home is a lie unless it´s f.fingers, heinz beans and bacon butties.
The fridge is a place to keep your beer cold.

    Let me rephrase it.
Install XBMC, a media frontend, on your computer.
    http://xbmc.org/download/

If you can´t spare the computer, then get a nice fast usb stick and play movies from that. Panasonic are quite good for diff. video formats.

Here´s what xbmc looks like in action:

Works really well with a windows mce remote.

Patiently waiting for the Hope 9-36 cassette here too.
I switched to 11-36 with a hammerschmidt and while it´s great going up
I´m missing an extra push for flat/downhill bits.

As soon as I see Sram & XX I don´t bother reading more, silly prices, it even makes xtr look inexpensive.

Just regular green stuff in a tub. I used to use white lithium grease, that worked fine too but didn´t last as long, it´s a bit too light.

Those “crop circles” are very cool.

Probably the best one yet, must have taken ages.

Nice work stopping and doing the decent thing.

That trail looks great but I´d probably just crawl down the wooden bits.
I´ve no problem flying down singletrack half that width but throw a few boards in and I´d have to stop and have a think about it.

Fair point Ambrose. I ride XC with a bunch of local guys on trails I´d never look at when out on my own but I always come back as happy/happier than on solo rides.

Ton, congrats and how does the bike last fully charged + going uphill offroad etc.
Pics and a review would make great reading.

I got a tub of the stuff my lbs uses on mine and it works fine.
I take it apart every month or so for a clean and re-grease, easy job, it´s well put together.

Looking forward to this one, I wonder if team Sky can repeat their performance from yesterday.

I reckon you´ll see a few real mountain riders have a go, I´d love to see Samu Sánchez try for it.
Pity we don´t have Contador and Schleck now, they´d liven things up.

I used to make a pie with salmon, cod and haddock similar to this.
Off the top of my head:

Make/buy some pastry and line a pie dish.
Stick it in the fridge til needed.
Chop and fry a bunch of spring onions or shallots in butter slowly and on a medium to low heat.
When the onions soft and golden add the fish, nice big flakes.
Stir it about drop a bit of salt and pepper and add a pint of milk, turn up the heat.

In a bowl mix two egg yolks with a half cup of milk.
Add about 5 tablespoon of flour and mix well.
Add a few spoons of the hot milk to this to stop the eggs scrambling.
Add to the fish and milk mix.
Turn off the heat and let it cool.
Now mix the two egg yolks til you get peaks and fold it in.

Taste it and see if it needs salt pepper, parsley, dill etc
Add a handful of sharp cheddar and fill the pie dish.
You don´t have to put a top layer of pastry, but it´ll work either way.
Give it about half an hour at 180 degrees and 15 mins at 150degrees.
Last bit depends on your oven.

Peas, carrots etc optional just bung em in.

Try Vallnord bike park in Andorra. Lots of good trails and ski lift and you also have La Molina park across the border in Spain (gondolas).
Lots of great places in the Pyrenees too.

Andorra and Catalunia are chilled out places and not as pricey as France or the Alpine destinations.

Although personally, living in the Basque country for years and I´ve yet to run out of great trails and places to explore. No gondolas here unfortunately so for uplifts you´d need to book a guide.

I don´t miss TV. Tuned in to itv today for the TDF Prologue but that´s the first time in weeks of live tv.

Despite the illegality I prefer to download and watch series/movies in comfort at home.

I do watch plenty in the cinema and at 20 odd euros a time I don´t feel guilty for having said movies on the PC when I want to rewatch em.

A fast connection means you could get raiders in about 10mins. Just enough time to go make popcorn

http://hidemyass.com/ doesn´t work as it doesn´t provide a recognisable IP address.

Expat Shield will work. So will a paid for VPN.
Torrents make more sense when you want to watch a series.

Been wearing a trabec in 30C+ here in the Basque mountains for the past month or so. No hotter than my previous regular shaped helmet and I´ve no problem with looking like a mushroom ;)
I tried an Enduro-matic in the shop but the tiny vents put me off.

I haven´t been to either of those but thats because the last time I lived there was over 20 years ago. I moved to Galway, bought a better bike and found a few Connemara routes.

Have long since moved from there to the Basque country and found bike paradise.

I would like to take the bike home for a week and do justice to my roots ;)

“Off! Deep Woods Sportsmen” repellent works but I had to get it on ebay. Typical Deet smell but I just use it on my legs.
Tried botanicals, lemon oil etc but they do buggr all.

Don´t sit on dead trees :/
Apparently no danger of TBE in the Basque region or Spain atm.

Ashamed to say that thats my home town and I´ve never ridden singletrack there.
Been up some dismally short mountains and messed about in a quarry but can´t say as it left me with any lasting impressions bikewise.

Just a quick heads up that the Continental Tubeless Rubber Queens are as porous as swiss cheese and mine couldn´t be run without loads of sealant added.

If it´s a choice I´d say go for Tubeless ready.

What I don´t understand is why the hell don´t kids learn how to cook as part of their education at school. And I don´t mean an optional 1 hour a week home economics class.

I´m looking into teaching kids still at school(I´m a chef). Since even here, in Spain, the fact that both parents have to work and are too tired/too lazy to cook decent food, coupled with the rise in popularity of industrial processed junk has lead to an obesity epidemic. This was once one of the healtiest places in europe, lots of fresh veg. and fish.

    My solution:
Teach the kids about healthy balanced eating and how to source food and cook for themselves.
Super-tax anything with hfcg in it and use the money to subsidise organic food.
Eat healthy home cooked food and have a blowout (takeaway/eat what you want) day once every week or two, until it´s no longer necessary.

This one by Sabres Of Paradise in ´93 owes everything to Lamont Booker, most people assumed it was an original track at the time although writing credits are on the record sleeve (i checked).

There´s tons of good routes there.

There´s a bike guide place in Santa Eulalia that will rent decent bikes (orbeas/cannondale) on a daily/weekly basis.

I´ve headbutted a tree superman style. My helmet cracked open.
Apart from a headache, I was fine.
I think I´ll “risk” continuing wearing one.

If I´m doing a short local MTB ride I prefer to go Bak-less.
I always feel faster without one on ;)

No real alternative for the long rides though, need to bring at least: pump, spare tube, multitool&cable ties, phone, cash, food and water. Get stuck in the hills without one of those when you need it and it´s a long walk/slow struggle home. Plus I can stick the pads and helmet on it when they´re not needed.

A manual* would be the best way through it but really all you have to do is lift the front wheel as you drop in on the back wheel. If you have enough speed that should get you to the other side.

As always, session the damn thing til you´re bleeding and bored but it becomes second nature. There´s a lot to be said for having another go.

*Disclaimer: I can only manual properly when the planets line up in a specific orbit.

Sounds like something is bent/out of line. If you remove the cable tension (leave it unscrewed) will the chain sit sit in the smallest sprocket then?
