Almost always take one and used it for the fist time last week.
It´ll keep me going til I get new tyres.

Just to balance out the bad reviews.
I built up a 2nd hand carbon ransom about a year ago, it has the equalizer shock. I think the alu ones are a bit heavy in comparison.

I ride in varied terrain in the basque country, lots of drops, rock gardens, big mountains. Best bike I´ve ever had and it makes me want to take on 2 hour climbs just to enjoy the descents.

Never had a spot of bother with either the frame or the shock.I did read a few horror stories and as a result I picked up a spare shock just in case (cost me 35quid), although that one did need a service. It can also be replaced by a modded DHX5, saw that on a few forums.

People will write a bad review if their bike breaks, if it doesn´t then they´ll be out riding.

Going there tomorrow and I´ve got a day booked with Lavatrax.
    Can´t wait :)
I´ll let you know what the riding´s like next week…

Aged 5, raided my parents record collection and learned the words, sang it incessantly for about 6 months:

Aged 12, raided uncles record collection and realised punk wasn´t modern at all, it also kick-started an early love of computers:

Aged 14, one of my first purchases, realised words were unecessary, still an incredible piece of music:

Aged 19, running beach raves and someone handed me the green album, thank you:

Do the spank spikes feel/have a concave bed? Also does anyone know the size of them?
I have tried nano’s and they felt too flat, I do like the feel of V8/V12 but a bit too thick?

The spikes aren´t concave but you have the option of leaving out the middle grub screws which would probably give you what you´re looking for.
    A solid review here: http://www.bikerumor.com/2012/01/26/long-term-review-spank-spike-pedal/

Spank Spikes, lovely silly thin pedals that are cheaper than Point Ones. Best grip I’ve ever had from flats as well.

    Looks like a nice build.

Personally I´d go with Shimano XT brakes (but I haven´t had Hopes´).
1×10 would be hard going in the UK, 2×10 isn´t going to be that much heavier and you´ll be happier anytime your on a hill.

At the end of the day a lot is down to personal pref. and fitness level.

And how many films have attractive females whose breasts get exposed due to unfortunatate circumstances.

    Not enough?

You obviously don´t watch many spanish movies then. I´ve got to the stage where I´ll set the stopwatch til a pair of breasts appear, it´s usually under 3 mins.

    band: smog
track is ‘moonshiner’ (cat power cover, or did smog write it) recorded 14/10/97. sorry, this is so obscure, please ignore if bored.

took about 4 seconds to find it on Soulseek (only 128k though)

CR and Wiggle don´t sell replacement knees, that´s good enough reason for me.
Bought the 661 d30 on here 2nd hand, doubt they´re worth full retail. The Fox pads are a bit cheaper and look good.

Straight up XC type riding and I probably won´t wear them but if I´m headed anywhere rocky or steep then I´ll stick em on at the top before descending and leave them on til I get home. Even in the middle of summer (spain) they´re not too bad).

OK, really not trying to troll here but why on earth do you still listen to and maintain the House of Lords. (Regardless of whether the current gov. is any use.)

They´re not an elected body and as far as I can see and their purpose seems to be checking out Bills and (usually) refusing to accept them.

Wouldn´t a publicly electable body be much more qualified?

I have family living in the UK which is why I keep in touch with what´s happening there though personally it doesn´t affect me.

I put together a carbon ransom last year and it is a bit of a pig uphill (I´ve got heavy tyres on) but it does give plenty of traction.

Downhill it´s given me confidence to take on stuff at speed that I used to walk around/chicken run through. It´s a very comfortable bike to ride. I don´t know that you´d call it agile as I haven´t got much to compare it to but there´s plenty of vids with pros flicking and whipping ransoms about on youtube.

Get the hang of switching through the shock modes and it will handle pretty much anything.

I bought a bleed kit last week from “epicbleedsolutions ” on ebay.
Reverb specific, oil, syringes and fittings. It was only 15 quid.
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/epicbleedsolutions/m.html?_trksid=p4340.l2562

I actually shortened the hose without bleeding when I got the seatpost originally and it was fine all summer.

    Cheers for the replies.
Pace don´t service Equalizer 1´s and using Evans it´d work out the same price as here. I´d heard they were pricy to service.
Just as well I can do it myself when it comes to the turn of my Lyrik forks.

Comes down to the owners in the end, if they can´t be bothered to train (or have trained) their dog then it´s on them.

Dogs are simple creatures, easy to train using a basic reward system.
I´ve owned a border collie and two rotweillers. Collies take a lot more to look after, they have huge energy reserves. Once properly trained I never had any trouble with any of them….apart from one of the rotties bringing me a (still live and unharmed) duck one aft. with a puzzled look on his face.

    Hey Doug

I have a reducer headset for 1,1/8 forks for my frame (not intended originally for 1.5 forks but that´s what I have on it now) that I don´t use.
I don´t know if it´ll fit your bike but you´re welcome to try it out or I can measure the diameters for you.

The more time I spend on a bike the more appreciation I have for stuff that “just works” over what looks nice. If you get looks nice+whatworks in the same package then even better.

I use a second hand set of xtr´s, my next brakes will be XT. (Had avids and tried a bike with Hope)

Got up yesterday at ridiculous o´clock. Met up with a bunch of riding mates and set out with frozen fingers & toes.

We climbed a tdf style incline , it took half a lifetime and rode through a mix of glue and mud for another age. Finally we hit a few singletrack descents, half rode, half slid down them, came out rider+bike pretty much one muddy outline. Jet-wash,pub and home 8/9 hours total.

    It was great!

Another vote for the Sansa Clip+ & Rockbox.
I´ve switched to almost all flac files (natively supported) since storage space is cheap.

I tried a few ipods and nanos, thought they were rubbish and itunes was too clunky for me, I prefer simple and fast.

I also tried an iriver mp3player a while back, really amazing sound but they´re a bit pricey.

almost anyone who says they are a WOT will probably be fit and anyone who raves about them is likely to be fat or unfit. (although I am not saying fit people will hate them and fat people will love them, but I reckon the majority of haterz will be fit and the majority of lovers will be fat)

It probably depends a more on where you ride and your skill level than how fit you are imo.
Round here there´s some really steep drop-offs/descents that I´d never be comfortable trying with a seat jammed in me backside.

Love the tandems, looks totally bonkers and yeah, I wanna go on one.

Here´s mine, cleaned up, degreased chain etc and switched out the rear shock today, a good days fettling so I´m enjoying a hot whiskey now.

Cool, thanks for the info. It must have been a nightmare to decide what goes in the pack and what stays at home.

Since I live so close to the Pyrenees I´d love to do
something similar but from east-west or vice versa.
