Pretty sure Back On Track in Malvern had some when I nipped in the other day, unfortunately I didn’t pay attention to price.
sundaytruckerFree MemberI have the Veritas Low Angle Block Plane and think it is great but would like something a little smaller for breaking edges etc and have been considering picking up the Veritas Apron Plane.
I have just had a quick scan on amazon for the prices of the planes you mention and for thirty-ish quid I wouldn’t have a clue what to recommend other than look for a vintage second hand model and fix it up.
I can’t help with size as we all find different things comfortable but I would look at low angle block planes.
If you decided to up the budget then the Quangsheng LA Block Plane from Workshop heaven is a terrific tool, albeit a blatant rip off of the Lie Nielsen equivalent.

i use this box. 1 feed to your sky dish, patch lead to router. full sky package, bt and premier.http://amikoreceiver.com/amiko-hd8150/
By full sky package I am assuming you have to pay for that? sorry for being bit simple.
sundaytruckerFree MemberThe prices required a big gulp, I had been waiting for the MacBook Pro refresh since Xmas and expected a price hike inline with the iPhone 7 but this just seems a bit much for me. My late 09 iMac has become a bit sluggish but I think I will persevere with it and hope that the price will drop once like it did when the original Retina display MacBook Pro was released.
sundaytruckerFree MemberI picked this up yesterday, not 100% sure it is for me yet as it feels more like Battlefront (I didn’t like) than Battlefield 4 (loved) but will persist and see if it takes hold.
If anyone wants to squad up then add me on PSN @ sal-paradise –
sundaytruckerFree MemberI have seen the three episodes and so far it hasn’t gripped me, I will give the show another coupe of episodes to land the hook but so far I don’t find the show hugely interesting.
Throughout each episode all I keep thinking about is how much I would love another Western TV series. The return of Deadwood better happen!
sundaytruckerFree MemberPositive thinking is good.
As I am about to start looking for new work having finished a temporary contract a week ago I could do with some of that.
Good luck with the application.
sundaytruckerFree MemberHave you asked whether The hotel can provide a secure lock up or if you could keep it in your room during your stay?
sundaytruckerFree MemberVery well done video and reminded me of the good times skating in rural worcestershire with my best mates.
I still have a skateboard in the loft and when/if I ever have a garden to call my own I have always intended to build a mini ramp.
I still love seeing a waxy curb or nice set of steps in a town centre.
sundaytruckerFree MemberI was keeping an eye on what the latest phone would be and was kind of disappointed that they still have the protruding camera lens, it is one of the reasons I am still using my 5S.
Although I wasn’t expecting an announcement, I have been waiting on a new macbook refresh since the turn of the year.
sundaytruckerFree MemberSean is great, although he makes everything look so easy! I was hoping to catch up with him at CCD but he wasn’t there when I visited.

Finishing experiment, aye right! You got me! 😳
sundaytruckerFree MemberI am definitely interested. looks like I have missed the cut this year for the L2 but also money would be a bit tight having been self funding my previous course and living expenses, so resupply the bank account is in order. Will see whether I can get on an evening course to keep things ticking over.
Working from home is a struggle at present, as I have no suitable work area although I aim to knock a work bench up shortly and hope to get something sorted in the near future.
Thank you for the reassurance and pointing me in a direction.
Sean Feeney (our Friday tutor) used to use Jan as a motivational tool for our most talented student.
sundaytruckerFree MemberI had to remove some vaseline (it was a finishing experiment) from timber components and as you can probably imagine it really gummed up paper abrasives, Mirka Abranet made the job much easier but unsure whether it would suitable for your job or not, might be worth a look.
sundaytruckerFree MemberKayak23 – No the course wasn’t with you, although I was looking at the evening classes at Leamington Spa earlier today (I live in Worcestershire so not too far away). The course I did wasn’t qualification based but full time five days a week 0900 – 1700 with the idea of building a small portfolio of work.
On reflection I rushed on to the course and with hindsight the offerings at Leamington Spa look more suited to me as five days a week was extremely intensive and with the added pressure of having to live without a regular wage for eleven months.
The evening classes sound like a good way to boost confidence and also keep my eye in as I don’t want to see the skill level I do have dissolve through lack of bench time.
As a side note – Jan Waterston looks like a real talent!
sundaytruckerFree MemberAs someone coming to the end of a fixed term contract myself, I would welcome honest feedback so that I could improve my performance in the future however the woman you describe doesn’t sound like she gives two hoots so I’d just wave good bye and good riddance.
sundaytruckerFree MemberThe last thing I made was this tool chest. I still have to make the piston fit tray to go inside to hold chisels etc and also mounting brackets for my japanese saw and measuring sticks. I no longer have access to a fully equipped workshop so I will be completing the internals with hand tools once I have build a work bench for use at home.
DSC_0148 by Darryl Jones, on FlickrPrior to the tool chest I made this desk.
DSC_0088 by Darryl Jones, on FlickrsundaytruckerFree MemberI don’t think they are conning us but I have zero interest in 4k, curved screens or whatever the next big thing they try to flog is.
At the end of the day we have a choice, I bought a TV last year and decided I was happy with 1080p HD (at best I watch iTunes HD downloads) and didn’t need a top of the range TV for my uses.
sundaytruckerFree MemberThere are some really touching posts in this thread and they are inspiring me to get off my backside, stop feeling sorry for myself and make a move to improve my current life.
Best of luck to sharkattack, I hope you find something to make you happy, financially secure and fulfilled.
sundaytruckerFree MemberI have been considering demoing an Aeris at Forest Of Dean. Bank balance is currently saying no.
sundaytruckerFree MemberJ273 – are those pikes stepped down to 120mm on your Solaris?
I quite fancy a gunmetal Solaris as they haven’t done a black grape version yet.
sundaytruckerFree MemberTerrible.
But you may discount my opinion if you think Jackie Brown is rubbish as that film is jostling with Pulp Fiction for Tarantino’s best work in my mind.
sundaytruckerFree MemberI am retired at 30. The rose tints come out when I see my old setup hanging in the garage but concrete hurts a lot more nowadays.
I have a Blind deck, Independent trucks, Ricta wheels.
I rarely skated parks etc but would love a go in a small bowl or shallow bowl. I always fancied building a shallow half pipe in the garden.
sundaytruckerFree MemberThe first hour or so was insanely good tv. It went a bit daft when the shots were fired which detracted from the brilliance of the earlier scenes.
Ted Hastings is brilliant.
I wanted to smash the TV just to wipe the smugness from Dot throughout the Arnott interview.
sundaytruckerFree MemberI currently have some APC jeans but fancy some Rogue Territory Stantons next.
sundaytruckerFree MemberPaul Sellers is a good shout, especially if you just want to get some cheap and very functional hand tools that may need a bit of work. That man has a tremendous amount of videos on youtube and is well worth a watch.
If hand tools are your thing then Richard Maguire (theenglishwoodworker.com) is also worth a look, his online (paid) courses are brilliant.
Plenty of older tools on eBay but well worth taking your time to find a bargain.
Workshop Heaven has some nice shiny things and have a good price on Quangsheng Jack Plane at the moment if you prefer new tools.
I use Woodworkersworkshop.co.uk as I am a full time student at the school that is attached.
Veritas tools have recently dropped in price (by a third on average) and are well worth the price tag in my opinion. I have a fair amount of veritas tools and love the Low Angle Jack and Low Angle Smoothing planes.
During the first few weeks at school I got to use a lot of tools before buying my own stuff, if you want any advice on brands etc then get in touch via PM, my email is in my profile.
good luck.
sundaytruckerFree MemberI was going to buy this off the Playstation Store this morning, but have been put off by reviews/comments that it is too long and gets a bit boring.
sundaytruckerFree MemberI have used one of these for a few of years. Bank Card, Drivers licence and Match & More Card plus space for a bit of folded cash. Perfect for me.
sundaytruckerFree MemberI don’t have an answer for you but what are you trying to achieve with the router bit? Can you not construct a jig to give you more precision with the router?
I am currently on a furniture making course and haven’t done much with the router yet so interested to know for future reference.
sundaytruckerFree Member1. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – great set pieces and characters. I am still to play the third instalment of the series but just received Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection on PS4 to remedy that and prepare for the fourth and final (?) game in the series.
2. GTA 5 – so fun I Played it on both PS3 and PS4.
3. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – the online was amazing and the biggest time suck since I started playing games, shame it was ruined by hackers.
Since getting a PS4 I have played both The Last Of Us and the Tomb Raider, both enjoyable games for different reasons. TLOU is probably the best game I have ever played but for some reason I never got around to playing it on PS3.
sundaytruckerFree MemberThese are the best kind of guys.
When I was working for a defence company we had a contractor come in that claimed to have previously worked for Mclaren F1 and had a lot of detail about cars etc, knowing **** all about F1 and car in general I thought it was possible even though the bloke was a prized plank and could barely screw something down without cross threading the work. He constantly spoke of the time he spent with a young Lewis Hamilton and that he had photos with him etc, after badgering this guy for a few weeks he finally produced a ‘team photo’ including a man he claimed was himself with an arm around Lewis Hamilton. The bloke he said was himself was mid thirties and muscle bound while Keith was prepping for retirement, about 5’6″ and skinny as a rake. He was deadly serious.
The same guy also spoke about the Pink Floyd tribute band he used to play in and how they are now touring the world and play to crowds over 100k, ‘bigger and better than the floyd’ he would say.
We had some ‘special’ folks come in as contractors and one claimed to have dug the channel tunnel almost single handedly and during a rare occasion that snow hit Hereford/Worcester he also single handedly cleared the snow from Fromes Hill and while people waited at the bottom in their cars. The thing with the last fib was that he was in a mini bus with 16 or so other contractors who heard him tell this story, he showed no shame when he was called on his lie and continued to elaborate on the tale.
sundaytruckerFree MemberI don’t post often but if you fancy watching my friend go over the bars into a brook then check out @sundaytrucker
I quite like Instagram and use it more for inspiration and as a catalogue.
sundaytruckerFree MemberI managed to order a pair of the Adidas cross trail Terrex shoes but think they may be a bit small, most likely to be advertised in the classifieds section in the near future once I have decided, they will be brand new ther than a stroll around the house (carpet).
sundaytruckerFree MemberI am in a similar boat looking for 29″ wheels around the the £300ish mark. For a while I was set on the Maxlight wheels but will be looking for deals on Hope Pro 2 hubs with a undecided rim, I had been looking at WTB i23 so it is good to hear some positive feedback regarding them.
sundaytruckerFree MemberI will be ordering one for my first ever build but will wait until they are in stock. I’d like to have an orange but don’t like the gritstone cotic decal so will join the masses and plump for green.
sundaytruckerFree MemberKraftyone – Surely they have kept a 44mm headtube like the 2014 one?
sundaytruckerFree MemberI was made redundant in feb and naturally (stupidly) uploaded my CV onto various websites and since then I have been getting loads of spam. I’m usually pretty guarded with handing out details/info but on this occasion acted a bit dim. I will probably cancel the email address and start all over.
sundaytruckerFree MemberI use HasBean and recommend them. Quality service and great coffee.
sundaytruckerFree Member@Alex – I haven’t been up the hills, other than for a quick blast, for a while as I tend to drive to FOD . Currently I am riding a Voodoo Bizango until I can fund a Solaris or Sherpa build. I will keep my eyes peeled for the Trek next time I am wheezing my way around the Malverns.
