If someone goes over their daily posting allowance I would happily sell them some of mine.

Brilliant. Its the STW answer to getting the whole economy stimulated again, an additional classifieds forum dedicated to STW posting credit trading.

You get so more credits for useful and succinct postings, and can trade your surplus to the more long winded with stupid suggestion.

……I guess I am going to have to be putting my hand in my pocket….

+1 Parcelforce are no doubt one of the better one.

Its easy to forget the other 50,000+ parcels they delivered correctly that day just because your one parcel went missing.

If they can rely on everyone else being even worse, where’s the incentive to improve.

I once asked Specialized how they can justify anulling all extended warranty on a bike/frame if you sell it on. Their answer was “everyone else does it, we are no different to them”

It’s because it’s so expensive that nowhere in the world has it ever been practical without government support.

Unlike wind farms which are sooooo good value that they are not viable or reliable even with huge subsidy.

France continues to have iro 60% of its electricity generated by nuclear and they never had an explosion and we are all happy to visit there.

Course nuclear isnt cost effective (only when compared to oil or gas or coal) but then again neither are the trains are they and no one (with half a brain) is suggesting we abandon them.

We stayed in the motorhome park (car park) and took a picnic and plenty of drinks, standing in queues for hours is suprisingly thirsty work. About as cheap as it comes.

3/4 of a day at DLP, tick done that, never intend to go again, even my kids think there are better things to do than rubbish plastic american theme park.

konabunny you need to swat up some more.

“They said they could” = invitation to treat not offer nor acceptance

When you see a phone in a shop window for £50, its an ITT not an offer. You make the offer to buy at £50 and then the shop accepts your offer. You still need consideration to seal the deal.

Broke my wheel building cherry today too.

As my ride was cancelled, I knocked up the jig this morning and spend day on off doing building and truing, between nursing sick child.

Note ‘dishing tool’ in foreground, kids hairbands and pencil/biro for gauges, elec screwdriver for initial nipple screwing in and spoke key from my ride kit multitool!

Its still sitting there because I cant beleive the I seem to have made a jolly decent fist of it with what feels like reasonably consitent spoke tension.

Contract is an agreement between two (or more parties). Just because they are telling you that you have entered a contract doesnt make it true.

Ignore it. Jsut make sure they cant take any money off you.

My mate tutted like skippy when I went back for my kit at Afan. Changed his opinion when his 12yr old lad went over the bars and mashed his arm on a big rock and I could patch him up enough.

Or the little lad who landed badly on jumps and cut a big gash in his chin. His Dad thought emergency medical treatement was to immediately phone Mum and tell her he had just tried to kill Johnny but not to worry!

Space blankets, antiseptic wipes, bandages, splints, gloves, cpr kit, are all not needed in my opinion.

    Knowledge….

Really? Tell that to the chap with the broken collarbone walking down throught the woods on (IIRC) Darkside?, in the freezing cold twilight in nowt but a wet T shirt and showing all the signs of onset of hypothermia.

Drugs – I always carry emergency antihistemine, ‘buprofen and co-codamol. Only ‘cos they wont let me carry morphine vials :(

    clear some fallen trees

Depends what you mean by this. If you mean cut up and take away, then its straight theft.

If you mean clear some trails, then it different – they will still ‘go mad’ but couldnt make criminal damage stick unless they can show you did harm to live trees that still had a chance etc.

Had it all my life, hands constantly affected.

E45 or any emmolient drives it mad instantly. I just use white soft parrafin – vaseline. Applied about 10 times a day. Its a hard wearing option. Use Dermovate (the ointment = in WSP not the cream = emollient) when it gets bad.

Anything the takes mositure flares it up = dry weather both crip cold and hot, air conditioning. I come off a plane felling like a pringle.

Plus stress. Reduced massively when I learned to calm my mind a bit.

Lastly, to stop the itching I douse my hands in very hot tap water as needed a few times a day. Not recommended by most doctors but it has worked for 20yrs. This and permanently short fingernails to prevent self harm…

The problem with CO is that it is taken up by your blood in preference to oxygen, that is why it is dangerous at the ppm level.

Anything that displaces available oxygen inhaled can suffocate you – why a for example a delugde halon fire system can kill you.

Hydrocarbons are narcotic if inhaled and will harm or kill you if you ‘overdose’

I am once again amazed buy the selfishness of parents. Teaching the kid bad habits, being unobservant then telling he kid to ride straight at me is the right thing to do so I have to get out of the kids way? the kid had a m of path and a m of grass before the canal – I was brushing hedge

Kids – let your kids ride in front of me I will give way 100%, regardless of how rubbish a parent you are, because its not the kids fault.

Dogs – let your dog run around in front of me uncontrolled and I will run it over rather than risk crashing.

Motorbikers – dont get me started

One thing’s for sure, cartridge is better for bike abusers, lots of people don’t think to service their bikes til it’s too late.

The bearings in a Pro 2 just get whacked in with a hammer and they’ll probably be fine for at least another year

    There you go.

Cartrige Brigade – buy expensive hubs, ignore them until the bearings fall apart, buy more expensive bearings

C&C Types – buy reasonably priced hubs, do minimal easy necessary maintenance, change really cheap parts if necessary.

    sugdenr

On a tight budget then its a no brainer. Shimano are very good and servicing costs about £3.50 per hub and takes 15 minutes once you have done it a couple of times. That said they dont tend to wear unless they run then dry or you manage to get water in from a jet washer or a really really boggy ride etc

Laptop = generic term for every portable flip top PC

Notebook = term originally developed for A4 paper size footprint version but still full blown powerful PC

Netbook = generally smaller than notebook and designed for t’interweb with low processor/graphics power, lower spec and cheaper than the above inc sometimes proprietary linux based OS.

Causes a problem because it can block the main at ‘dip points’ – the pressure head of water is higher than the IIRC 45mbar of the main, in any event physically reduces the main effective area so you start getting low pressures in the main – lots and lots of complaints and problems with boiler shutting off etc. Plus it’ll **** up your boiler and the like super quick if you start burning gas with too much water in it.

I dont mean this in a rude way, but cant you think of something useful to design with your valuable time and talents.

The Bamboo bike for developing countries springs to mind. Doing high end leisure sh*t is ok but you learn so much more at your stage of life if you do some ground up grass roots engineering based on ‘necessity’ limited budget and limited materials.

DH bike stuff has shed loads of people with big budgets working on it, its design is largely done. Unless you have some sensible eureka disruptive technology bubbling over in your head.
