On McLarens second brake pedal- did it actual work? Seemed odd!

Oh yes, if you read the specs of the new Macca sports car you’ll see that they have included an automatic version of it on there.

Incidentally, reason they need to brake is 2WD. Prodrive have developed a 4WD system does the same but with power not braking. So effective it made Clarkwit puke when he tried it

was the attempt at denying all responsibility for the mechanical failure which contributed to Ayrton Senna’s death, by the highly respected British Williams F1 team. Whose boss, Patrick Head, was found guilty of manslaughter in a Court of Law.

When faced with a legal system that essentially starts out with ‘something happenned and therefore someone has to be to blame, now lets fit the circumstances to find who is to blame’ what would you do? Williams were in the position of having to demonstrate innocence. And if this is so correct under Italian law how come Ferrari, a company that surely has killed more drivers than any other, was never brought to task.

recent commentators have said damon hill need not have tried to pass schumi as he was coming back across the circuit after his crash as he could not go anywhere else with front broken suspension – if he had braked and gone on the other side he would have been fine.

…if Damon had known that the suspension was broken in the split second Damon had to decide what to do, he had no idea of course as it happened out of his sight and he had to assume this was his one and only chance to get past Schui. Damon did the correct thing in the circumstances.

Schumacher = found guilty of cheating by FIA
Briatore = found guilty of cheating by FIA
Benneton = found guilty of having illegal code hidden in their ECU

Jos is supposed to be one of Schumacher’s close mates, with friends like that! Although given Rubens recent comments I think maybe Schumacher has sacrificed friendship in his life for winning.

Schumacher is a cheat, flatterd by always making sure the team disadvantaged his team mate. Yet what did Mansell say – a money could win in the FW14/15 – and they did.

I think you are highly likely to be in breach of tay bridge byelaws and liable to a fine. This is a civil offence, but if the rossers attended and wanted your name etc so they know where to send the fine to and you refused that would be grounds for arrest and fine in itself.

You could potentially be arrested for creating a danger/breach of the peace for creating a danger (to yourself)- but more likely to be cautioned, as long as you dont get into being chased by the rossers if they tell you to ‘gerrof the brigde’.

I doubt it could be trespass because it is a public bridge and subject to public right of way

It’s better than referring to her as “my current wife”.

Do they give you writen paper directions? If so when doing these on motorbike we used to tape them together then onto tubes put in a roller box made from 2 lengths of small dia plastic pipe in a lunchbox taped to the handlebars. As you go and read of the instructions then you turn it to next isntruction, rolling it from one tube to ‘t other.

However. if they just give a grid location to go, that’s all useless information to you.

    Whot TJ said.

Your contract of sale is with the retailer.

Retailer told you what to do with the frame, so its his problem that its lost. If you have some confirmation it was accepted as duff then good, what would he have done with it anyway! Did you send frame or whole bike back? Just frame = very good.

the carbon thing is commonly known as delamination as is a usual failure mode of carbon.

If you have problems I am available to fight to good fight for you (for a fee payable in bike parts) :D

Mrblobby get out now, both of you even if you think ‘nah can’t be assed’. Get drunk (you), go to dinner at mates, riding weekend etc as you’ve no idea how it’ll affect you guys when the baby comes.

Nah, just makes it even worse when it happens. Better to start selling off all your bikes and start winding down your life in readiness. And repeat after me, DONT go near the business end.

    Control crying is good

Stop saying that, grrrr *skulksstorms off muttering indignantly*

I think I would find it quite hard to get back to sleep if someone was picking me up and cuddling me.

Absolutely, its the other thing between either picking them up or ignoring their crying – comforting them sufficently and reducing the level of/need for comforting in a way that works for them without traumatising them enough that they cry.

You people that leave your kids crying – bad parent, bad, bad parent, shame on you

so many people seem to think that the best place for a satnav is right in front of them, or they put it to their side, but right up in their eyeline (so in the middle of the screen).

Amazing how many people need their tomtom on to navigate their route round the complicated M25, on their usual commute…

However, I’ve got a new Titanium road frame and carbon forks hidden away in the loft which I’m itching to build up.

So, take the approach (I am convinced) my wife uses. When I say ‘that’s a (nice) new coat/top (meaning it looks expensive), she always sweeps me aside with ‘oh, this old thing, noooh, I’ve had it in my wardrobe for aaaaages, its not new silly!

The long and short of it was to just leave them to cry. By going in all the time the baby thinks something is wrong as their parent keeps checking on them. Your just winding up the baby instead of them learning to go back to sleep. No word of a lie after 3 night leaving her to cry it worked a treat and she sleeps through the night. Thats after 10 months of broken sleep. Typically she now has a chest infection and that has gone out the window until she is well again.

    *Disagrees quite stongly – on a scale of 1 to 10, its a 10*

That is the kind of thing the evil Gina Ford perpetuates. Babies dont have the congnitive development to be thinking like that. In fact they think ‘where’d everybody go?’ something must be wrong’. Your child crying just wants comfort that it is safe and that you havent abandoned it. By going in, you are confirming everything is ok they can relax.
Leaving them crying is just the boot camp of getting them used to idea that they have in fact been abandoned. Kids adapt much quicker than adults.
The key issue to ‘detaching’ at night is to stop eye contact, and move from being close to them/touching them, to sitting the other side of the room from them, then out the door, over a number of days. Essentially bore them to sleep – no eye contact, no touching = boring so they go to sleep but are happy because they have not been abandoned.

My girls often refuse to get involved in lingering hugs, or even get too near our bed (for fear of being scooped up into it), because they know its just a big ploy by us to avoid getting up for as long as possible.
