So they are going to treat it like a panel repair :(

Filler is likely to come out double fast. I would be doing some research / spk to Cy on the effect of welding it. It is possible to weaken it. More harm than leaving well alone

My nearly new BFe frame cost me 150 off here. Did you get that frame from a guy in Dundee?

I would honestly be giving it a quick patch spray, and riding it as it. With all the Bfe frames being sold lately I reckon more should come up 2nd hand pretty soon.

So the frame is off to the painters just now where they’re going to repair the dent and paint the bike before adding decals and lacquer.

Uhmmm, what do you mean they are ‘going to repair the dent’?

I hope they have a master plan and aren’t just going to treat it like some panel repair?

I didn’t agree to that deal, was it you?

    Didn’t you get the memo?

So he does a deal to do a job and get performance related pay. Then when he’s done that as promised, his employer (us – the public that own 80% of RBS) dont want to pay up – even in shares in a wothless piece of tat.

Bust a deal, face the wheel.

I have a nearly new 38T chainring and bash going if you are interested. Found it too much for what I ride. email in profile.

Forget Soul, the Bfe is such good value right now and there is little disadvantage. I just built a Bfe (nearly new frame) for around £400 using used parts from my old bike and the classifieds – and that with 130 Uturn revs.

Because of the price the Bfe is very in vogue at present.

Judicious buying and you can have Bfe and FS for 1500

    – I dont agree that FS is minimal extra maintenance, maybe at first but it catches up with you.

Oh cripes, that is sooooo tempting. Kids and wife are pestering me like mad, love spaniels and they are so trainable. Have you trained him at all?

Stoner – house in town just outside London, on your figures I am on 9.4% gross. It is achievable, but its not easy.

    sugdenr
    Free Member

5% is a good return for nothing. For BTL you need to be nearer 10% gross to make or better that 5% interest, depending on the type of house/tenant etc.

It is ROCE that you need to think about. Google that. Basically you need to not own 2 flats but have (say) 80% mortgages on 10 to maximise your ROCE.

not sure what ripped sidewall has to do with tubeless

    30 is fine.

My problem is I havent recalibrated from motorbike trials, rear sometimes 4-6psi on technical rocky assents.

    Afan this weekend is it?

I use NN on Stan’s. I use non-UST and seal them up with the milk – watch the vids on notubes site – it a right faff but very satisfying. I have left these tyres for weeks without going flat, but do need a bit of air.

Never had a puncture since going tubeless, but have burped with instant deflation (I run low pressures).

Relax, it will be fine. (but carry 2 spare tubes with you, just in case….)

You came across quite badly in the OP, but sound a lot more sensible there. 1) talk, regularly and frankly – you need to build up to this as it’ll involve stuff on both sides you wont like hearing, and both need time to come to terms with unpalatable stuff 2) approach it differently. OH needs time off too, but may not realise it, start trading time slots of ‘space’ for each other.

Bribery is the answer. Offer wife a cut of the windfall to spend on herself, buy some decent used tyres from the classifeds, allocate remainder to rainy day. Ticks all boxes don’it?

Means I can still touch my toes, and my when my back aches now can I just stretch it out a little and i’m fine insead of being half crippled by it.
I get up and say ‘right i’m off now’ once the wiered s**t starts – all that chanting and candle gazing and stupid breathing etc.
I used to stay for the ‘relaxing’ but they got fed up with me snoring -apparently you are suppose to stay awake to get the benefit – FFS!.

Just bought a Wii. Advertised as brand new unwanted present, only taken out of box to photograph. Took it out the box and it was clearly grubby round all the buttons and ont top/sides from use and the receipt said bought June 2010. Thank god for paypal – oh except my wife collected without checking and paid cash.

Drove 75miles to collect solid oak cabinet. 5 minutes after arriving I left having advised owners it was veneer chipboard. Not first time this thing has happened, you can tell honest (but very very annoying) mistake by the rabbit in headlights look when you tell them. When people are ‘sang froid’ you know they are lying b*******s.

That said i have bought everything from camelbak bite valve to motorhome on ebay. It is truly amazing what you can get on it.

Along the way I have advised various people who where outsource sales/marketing and got into dispute. Biggest problem seems to be the failure, at the outset to set expectations and more importantly manage these.

It doesn’t sound a very fair relationship though – you are struggling to cope with your money yet she saves and spends.

I don’t ever recall being in a serious relationship where I wouldn’t share my fortune or expect it shared with me when I’m broke.

Its good that you have done the right thing and thought of the kids first. They wont be dissapointed at all.

Welcome to the real life of cohabiting and kids. It is what it is, for most people, if you are not up to it do everyone a favour and jump in your lifeboat soonest.

    Yes

    (a) I could abandon my perfectly good low normal 2×9 systems (with bash so I dont severely lacerate my leg when I fall off)
    or
(b)pointlessly upgrade to hugely expensive 10spd system that only comes in traditional rise flavour

    a,b,a,b,a,b..oh what’s it to be

Sort of weight saving you are talking about is achieved by 1 less cake this week

For what you are doing with it either would do, except laminated will end up fairly seriously thick (and so heavy) to be strong enough, plus I beleieve that unprotected laminate will de-laminate pretty rapidly exposed to the elements.

Toughened is the only practical option

No. I dont want to konw. It’ll just make me irritated. I just want them to take my money and waste/spend it and let me get on with wasting/spending what’s left.

A few years back M-Sport found the cheapest weight savings (by a few million quid) were to be had by “putting Howard(Davies – co-driver and big bloke)on a diet”

and IIRC Lance Armstrong gained a significant climbing advantage when he reduced his uncessary upper body muscle.

Rockshox forks – just a few aluminium tubes, rods, bits of plastic a few ml of oil and a bunch of O rings. Always amazes me how little there is in there and how simple they are when I service them, considering the cost.

Oh and ROckshox service kits, how much for a few o-rings?

….lets not forget the few million quid invested in R&D and tooling?

Choron with that nonsense you are definitely and academic of some kind.

If you cant do, teach eh?

In last year we did a BTL that is returning over 12% ROCE, and the loan was just fixed at 3.5% for 5yrs.

You can have the smoke and mirrors beans, commodities, equities – may as well go to paddypower. I’ll take the property. I have been waiting a year and a half for the reposession time bomb to happen, but it blinking well hasnt. Of course we never had this same discussion in the late 80′ and 90’s did we.

    Q. How much additional rent are you going to get for the effort or risk?

    A. None

    Why bother?
