What is rear maxle? Is that 12mm bolt through? If so Pro2 is obvious choice.

If you need one, I have a Pro2 12×135 rear axle, and a DT Swiss 240S 12×135 axle both to sell.

Common problem, RF put their granny further in than others, so the stinger wont fit however you do it unless you want to bend a kink into it. Apparently you might just do it if you play about with the special RF spacers. Depends on the frame. Eventually I gave up and changed the cranks, shame as the Atlas are a great crankset.

I went into a Specialized shop to try on a helmet before buying online. But seeing as its a Spech helmet i’m buying I reckoned that was ok 8)

When you shift from the middle (on the flat) to the smallgranny, the angle that the chainline attempts to pull the cog at is closer to horizontal than if it were in said middle.

Plenty of Raleigh Burners from the 80’s and probably other BMX’s that were chromed(and not very well) still survive and they have been abused by kids and adults alike.

    What macavity quoted was

Chrome is forbidden by Reynolds on their 753 as it causes hydrogen embrittlement

Thin tubes made of certain clever alloys – not thick heavy bog standard tubes on bikes made to farm gate specifications.

Since we’re getting the scare stories out, painting often involves also dipping the frame in all sorts of mental chemicals to strip all paint and grease off the frame and / or blasting tiny bits of sand and grit under silly high pressures to smash off old paint and leave a rough surface for the new paint to stick. This is likely to do as much damage if not more to those thin tubes as polishing. Its then subjected to enough heat to potentially alter and soften the welds.

^ That. How many times do people post on here about sand blasting and powder coating, esp. ali frame where rough surface = breeding ground for cracks

Asked why he drove an Austin A35 van, James Hunt replied because he could be on the limit most of the time without doing more than 35mph.

I find it safer for similar exillaration (and much more accessible) than the offroad motorbiking I used to do.

That and instead of getting up a hill using the fitness of my right wrist (steady chaps) I now get the fitness benefit and satisfaction factor of using my own steam.

Send it to Mojo – warranty period isnt the timelimit for sending it, its the period during which fault arises. If you emailed mojo and they responded then that is proof fault arose during warranty, unless you are some gifted doomforseeing liar! Your delay in sending is not fatal as long as its not ridiculous.

Anyway statutory warranty is not 12m, it a reasonable period.

If mojo find a fault they are most likely to sort you out.

Will a Hope Pro11 front QR end-cap fit a rear Pro 11 Evo hub?

Ignoring that front is caps and rear is axle assembly, front QR is 9mm whereas rear QR is 10mm

WTB Stout (run tubeless) burped and I rode home underinflated, never reseated properly and finally literally exploded off the rim on a ride in Swinley last week. Sounded like a shotgun going off and I half expected the bizzies to turn up. Latex absolutely everywhere.

    I am 34″ inside leg 35″ waist

That sounds fairly normal, if reasonably large in the waist

Really? Based on what experience of yours? Most ‘normal’ trousers – in my decades of experience of being a long leg trouser buyer – top out a 33″

Also have to buy only XXL gloves else fingers too short!

Why else would you buy XXL gloves

Err, because you have XXL hands? Which I dont, I have large to XL hands but most gloves are too short in the finger.

    I’m not of long leg

Explains it, back to the Daily Mail for you.

I am 34″ inside leg 35″ waist, I hate trousers or tops that come up short in my arms/legs – cant find anything that fits in mtb trousers, have given up and just ride shorts even in the snow. Also have to buy only XXL gloves else fingers too short!

Dontcha love the forest early morning, with the only sound being your brake pads incessantly wearing themselves out. Its wet wet wet wet wet. Got soaked. Stick to the made up stuff. Even the fireroads are hard work with all the wet sand patches.

Milki – thumb……and index finger – I guess you dont change gear or use the dropper too often.

4 fingers on the bars to hold on for dear life, 1 finger pulling at the end of the lever = easy get enough braking with any half decent brake

If you are like me, you ordered some stuff that you had been meaning to order for a few weeks, and then having done that it all became instantly urgent.

Did you give yourself a good talking to for being so tardy in not ordering stuff sooner?

I’m sensing a bit of a theme here, you keep riding things to destruction. What havent you broken on your bike this winter? :?

I’m not knocking Hope, I think they have great products, but I do think they are clever in developing the ‘perfect warranty/perfect product’ mystique. Fact is I hear load of people talking about the great Hope warranty – which actually means loads of their stuff breaks.

But I dont hear people going on about say Shimano stuff always breaking (lets not re-start the cup/cone vs cartridge bearing debate again).

Superstar would do well to take a leaf out of Hope’s book and stop arguing with everyone about warranty problems, because the bad sentiment really harms their otherwise excellent business model.

I use superstar ally shim with Joplin. One reason I did it is because the carbon frame cracked at the little stress relieving hole at the base of the slot on the bit that the clamp compresses. I decided that a dropper post shimmed was better than constatly undoing and redoing the clamp and flexing the carbon to raise/lower post.

Scott say to shim voids warranty IIRC. I have had no probs in a year of using it. Go figure which is better.

I have also noticed that I have definate short periods of more ‘normal’ positivity and then back to negativity.

Yup, the skill is getting the positive periods to be longer than the negative periods and until they even sometimes connect.

I find you have to make positives to look forward to, once you dont have a poitive to look forward to or you look back at negatives in the past instead then the storm clouds start to form.

Lastly, dont beat yourself up about it, recriminating yourself doesnt add anything. I accept that I am a miserable so and so, it doesnt make me a bad person.

Ruling out easily overlooked external factors as CG suggests, I would suggest 2 thingst that I find important – first, you need to work on your self esteem, which comes from within, until you make yourself believe that you are a good worthwhile person no one can help you. Second you need things to aim for, positive targets, big and small, that give you a purpose above the humdrum of work/family life.

Depends what your LTV is, but if you are selling up in 4 yrs or so I would fix your rate for 5yrs at the current low rates (although rising) and use some of the money as the deposit on BTL.

Every modern mx’er or FS’er I have ridden has had considerably more shock absorbtion on the front than the back.
AFAIK you dont want to be rear end first, ever, front first or both together.

A tip for fine tuning tyre performance is to run your tyres soft, but add some golden syrup to the tyre after you’ve put it on the rim. The gloopyness of the syrup provides some compression & rebound damping – the more you add the slower they get!

Cheers but the cable is only hand tight when in the slack position, so it cant be overtightened.
