The NHS is part of the problem. I’ve had a few issues over the last 6 months which has resulted in several trips to the gp and hospital. Everyone has asked me if I smoke and drink. (Do they not look in my notes?) but no-one, NO-ONE, has asked about my diet.

A recent trip to a&e necessitated searching for refreshments. The hospital shop contained all manner of goodies, but the only ones who’s main ingredient wasn’t sugar were crisps. You have a sitting target with a chance to educate them about food and it’s ignored.

Things haven’t moved on much since when I had a Heart bypass 15 years ago. The day after, I was served with Steak and Kidney pie , followed by sticky toffee pudding for lunch….

Healthy food in hospitals is possible, isn’t it?

when my daughter passed her test 6 years ago the cheapest insurance we found was with Elephant.  About £900, no blackbox, fully comp, Seat Mii, 75hp version….

It will have gone up by now but was cheaper than any “black box” insurance we found.

About a year after she had a no fault accident. The other party admitted he was at fault and gave her his name and address,  but she forgot to get his reg number. Elephant bent over backwards to get the other party to pay, and she had no increase in premiums. Unsurprisingly, she’s still with them, paying about £300 a year

Stick it in the washing machine on the hot wash, in a bag full of towels.

I did this accidently a few years back and everything then opened freely. I was worried the pen may have leaked, but it hadn’t, and still wrote first time.

“What even is “processing”. Quorn (or other meat free mince) is processed from either soybeans or mycelium into something completely unrecognisable. Yet you’d have to really throw the blinkers on to say it’s in any way unhealthy.”

Just because your interpretation of the advertising is “healthy”, it doesn’t make it so. Quorn may be stuffed with all manner of shite. Lynda McCartney’s sossies , also “healthy” were until recently stuffed with hydrogenated fats. They may still be…

You probably have the weight of the wardrobe bearing on the squeaky board, possibly cantilevering it higher where it squeaks.

    Move the wardobe?

Steer well clear of Silicone . It will ruin the whole box . Any stray bits , even if wiped off, will prevent your final finish from adhering to the wood. In short , it will look crap!

Rout a rebate under the lid and use glazing bars to hold the glass in place, with very fine application of acrilic putty to stop the glass rattling.

“Not diabetic and sugar and cholesterols levels always seem OK when I have blood tests for my high blood pressure.”

If they’re only testing for these things they won’t spot anything else.

To start with, keep a diary. What foods you eat , what you drink, what drugs you take, what the weather’s like, how you feel, and anything else of note.

You may well spot a pattern.

I’m still wearing my Sock Guy merino blends from years ago. No sign of them givving up the ghost yet. The 100% merino though, went years ago.

Great idea! Thinking about it, my neice is due her first in a few months, so I’ll have to get busy…

If using Birch Ply, timber yards often have offcuts in decent sizes for very decent prices. My local sawmill, had 18mm grade AA at £7 for  450 x 1220. a hefty reduction on the cost of a full sheet, and a helluva lot easier to handle.

There’s no reason a wooden bike should be heavy…

If you hadn’t have taken her you’d be non the wiser. Migraines come in many forms…

Don’t worry about wasting their time, It’s why they’re there.

I had to go to A&E the other day. It was an eye opener! A brand new (6 months ) hospital, filled to the gunwhales with old folk on trolleys. Every bit of corridor occupied with trolleys, 6 ambulance crews waiting to offload.

And apparently that was a quiet day…

Talk Talk I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole. They still owe me £50 from 20 years ago…

Or Plusnet. Bargain prices but never quite managed to get me a reliable service.

BT were ok once theyd replaced their shonky Router, but Vodaphone were, for half a dozen years, Totally reliable and reasonably priced. But they couldn’t find my new address –  central Brighton- so we said goodbye.

I replaced them with Zen, who have been OK, other than the signal disconnecting randomly. Probably something to do with the very flimsy router. For their premium price they really should do better!

Have you considered, in true STW style, a Vw up/Seat Mii/skoda whatever?

Great little cars. I bought my daughter one 5 years ago and she still has it. Never failed, just keeps going…

And for Insurance, Elephant. Several hundred quid cheaper than all the black box deals years ago, and easy to deal with when someone drove into her on a roundabout. Still with them…

the wonkiness is purely an aesthetic embellishment.

Plus, it’s cheaper to build without a spirit level.

I like it. The Flemish Bond is a nice touch! Worried about the acoustics though, especially as they’ve laid rugs under the tables, presumably in an attempt to do something about it…

Instead of pissing about with a circular saw you need something similar to one of these:  Shokunin Japanese Atsuba Crosscut Saw – 180mm | Axminster Tools, allowing you to start your cuts in the middle of the sheet

A bit of elbow grease and it’ll be done in the time it takes you to find a plug socket.

If the saw has got a Riving Knife behind the blade you can’t plunge it.”

You can. The riving knife will plunge with the saw, with the saw more exposed to the board when raised. To plunge you will need to move the saw forward slightly as you plunge.

I second the Lakes!  I’ve had 2 pairs of  them for a few years, Very warm or not so warm, both sealed and fully waterproof.  If you have wide feet they also do a very wide wide fitting.

A timely thread!  Just popped the first Stifado of the season in the oven. Should be ready tennish….

My audio pro has just gone tits up after a few years. The App refused to work after a couple of months. It was great for Bass but struggled on the High Notes.

My Minirig of about the same age continues to sound great. I copes admirably throughout the range but if you want more bass, woofers are available, or put it in a cardboard box…

Need a new set of Boas , but they’re pennies….

“Boa replace the laces/dials free of charge, via their website.”

I know. But if something lasts ten years, trouble free, I’m quite happy to stump up £20 to get another set in the hope the company is still there when I need them in another ten years…
