“I have Spotify family for 14 quid, “

Do they show weird and wonderful live stuff yet? I cancelled it a few years back as their content was sadly lacking compared to Youtube, which I pay for, and listen and watch ad free….

PictureHouse is my nationwide cinema chain of choice. i have two of their cinemas near me. one has pretty crap sound(Dukes). You can sit and watch for a couple of hours and not have heard a word. The other (komedia) is tip top!

Sofas and plenty of leg room… and beer…

They do generally show more arty flicks but the big films do get a look in. Their programmes are more varied daily, not just several weeks of the same crap.

    A letter from ” a” solicitor?   Who’s solicitor?

Never mind the absence of legal cover. Leave it to the insurers. Courts take a dim view of hasty, threatening action. There are procedures involved in sueing someone.  A Letter before action and a reasonable time frame. IANAL, but there are a few on here who would be able to advise correctly.

    Tell her not to worry.

“Christmas morning will involve bacon butties and bucks fizz before 9am”

    Cracking Idea!

I haven’t eaten bacon for a few months, so I’ll let myself go in the true spirit of Christmas…

Print a copy of the doc that says you’ve payed until next year. If questioned, produce that.

You do have the important stuff like insurance and MOT , I take it?

    If so, crack on…

Parcelforce. Use a proper wheel box, perhaps with a little extra protection, and you should be able to send them for less than a tenner.

“ah, perhaps you should try humus from the area that it was actually invented, rather than Greece? Proper, hand made (or home made!) hummus is a real treat as opposed to that shite sludge that supermarkets sell. “

All the best Greek food is Turkish…

My ex -wife is Greek, and if there’s on thing guaranteed to cure a fussy eater like me of their dislikes and phobias it’s a Greek barbecue.  Everything I refused to eat as a kid I now nom down, even fish now and then , but that still demands a bucket for a few hours after….

“Apart from improving ventilation, which is a good call, what’s it resting on? I had a crappy shed at out last house that was resting directly on paving slabs. Water would find its way up the joists and into the OSB floor where it would spread out and steam the place. I emptied the shed, lifted it onto secondary joists with a barrier between the two and the problem went away.”

Good point!  What’s it resting on?

Ventilate! at opposite ends of the shed, underneath the eaves at least. The more ventilation the merrier!

If you seal you’ll just be sealing the damp in and making matters worse.

35?  plenty of time to get one set up, but do it now!

I agree with DanW . The self employed are at a significant disadvantage to salary slaves.

I know they think we put everything through the books or love being payed cash, but it is tempting to swap that for pension contributions, sick pay, paid holidays and being able to spend all day online…

    Tempting? nearly….

” I went back to 5 aside, took it super easy, and this was grand for a few weeks. Proper warm ups and cool downs. Then, last week, everything seems to let go. Back square one. I’m walking like John Wayne today.”

Pack in the bleedin football! There are reasons pro footballers nearly always pack it in before their forties. They get hurt more easily, recovery takes longer., etc, etc….

41 is not old, but it is old for a fotballer. There’s no need to give up doing stuff; just do different stuff. And stretch!

On the yoga side of it, I can’t. I’m not supple. I have really really poor flexibility. The most basic yoga poses will have my hamstrings cramping or my back pulling. I’ve tried multiple times. Everytime my body get’s stressed, it just seems to give up. The exercises I did for my lower back were very limited due to all that.

I know this probably seems a bit ridiculous or trivial, but I’m utterly fed up with it.”

    Bollocks!

Give it another go, Try as many different teachers as you can. They all have their own favourite routines/poses/stretches from pretty easy to bleedin’ impossible. Don’t overdo it or try too hard to impress the girl next to you. Give it a couple of months and you’ll feel the benefits.

All my life I have had tight hamstrings. As a kid I loved swimming, and was quick, but kicking as in freestyle or backstroke would result in my cramping up in my feet, calves or hams within a couple of lengths.

A few years ago I met a Yoga teacher who persuaded me to go to Bali with her. In preparation I started doing yoga- all I could do/wanted to do for £30 for a month. It was knackering but when we got to Bali I was pretty flexi. Snorkelling with big flippers, previously cramp inducing in 5 minutes, was a doddle for a couple of hours!

And it gets those forgotten little muscles strong as well as supple.

Go on, give it another go!

The days of the local family vet are over. They all seemed to join large corporate veterinary groups during lockdown. The emphasis these days is not necessarily what is best for the animal but how much they can screw out of the client.

I was harangued a couple of years ago by a receptionist for being “an irresponsible owner” for not having insurance for my old boy Louis, despite his never needing more than routine vacs. Fortunately the soon to be gone vet who gave him his first jabs as a young pup, 16 years earlier, knew better…

Have you actually used the little ones on page 2?  They are utter shite! probably the worst bag I have ever used. Why Carradice still sell these is beyond me. Totally devalues the brand . I won’t be buying any of their other stuff in a hurry, despite the esteem in which they are held….

It really is the worst pain known to man!

Allopurinol sorts it out in no time at all.
