… salary that’s lowish but with a higher than stated top end cap. T

A top end cap? Is it usual to limit the rewards for performance?
Sounds like a shit employer TBH, but what do I know? Haven’t worked for an employer for 30 years+…

We have multiple accounts at the same bank (NatWest) – so just one login for online banking and easy quick transfer between accounts.

Which is great until their system goes down…
Happened a couple of times recently with Nat West hasn’t it?

Over that time, I ate a fair few Belgian frites, and drank a fair few Belgian beers.

    In Belgium?

TBH I’m just getting a bit sick of maintaining multiple memorable words, places, passwords, dates, people for each site. Even as a paid up LastPass member it’s a pain in the chebs and I can’t be bothered.

    I know what you mean…
And sorting out the direct debits and standing orders for the merry go round, I wouldn’t be doing that again in a hurry!

    Any tips on finding snakes?

In the dunes, they’ll find you

Why bother with “folders” or multiple savings accounts when you can have current accounts at different banks paying you a better rate of interest than any savings account?
Lloyds, TSB, Santander etc all offer a comparatively decent rate of interest on £2.5-£20k.
It’s saving without thinking about it…

He’s 7 years old. It’s the summer holidays.
Why the **** would he be doing Maths?
There’s plenty of time for that in a couple of week’s time.
If he’s struggling in 2 years time it’s a different matter.

Nothing wrong with the test, they just need to make people retake it on a regular basis. Shall we say every five years?

Yep, why not? and a year after first passing the test.

UK drivers kill a lot more pedestrians too, according to the link.

It doesn’t say that at all. It does say that UK pedestrian deaths are a higher percentage of all road deaths than in (frinstance) France.

    Do the Maths:

    UK pedestrian deaths, 23% of 26 = 5.98 ped deaths per 100k
    France ped deaths, 14% of 53 = 7.42 ped deaths per 100k.

    So fewer…

    suburbanreuben

And yet our fatality rate per 100k inhabitants is just a little over half that of France…

Was that the rule that stopped it looking like a bar of soap?

Or aerodynamics that caused it to swap ends at 71mph?

If you fancy returning to the 70s there’s the Withies in Compton.
A fantastic rose clad pergola with tables below and big old fashioned coloured light bulbs.
The Italian bar staff are all about 80 and wear black ties.
    They make their own crisps.
Can’t remember the beer and it will be pricey, but worth it for the crisps alone.

No probs with my two pairs apart from the sizing issue. I’m a 45 in Shimano and a 45 in Giro means thin socks and trimmed toe nails are a must.

They do an HV- High Volume- model for chunkers.
They are by no means a wide fitting, just more up top . I usually take a wide fitting in Lake and Sidi, but the HVs were just too big. I tightened the buckle right to the end and couldn’t get it off. Had to drive to Evans (fortunately only 10 mins) for them to cut it off.
Talking of buckles, they’re decidedly low rent compared to Sidi, and a bit warm on summer days, but at least they grip on rocks.
one year on, no issues with 2nd gen sole here.

I think Nevis is right with the V60 Polestar. The first one with the 3.0l T6 not the current 2.0l 4cyclinder. I intend to buy one as soon as they start coming out if warranty and drop below 20k.

I have a S60R and both those and the V70R have a following already and good ones hold their money.

    A bit of a Volvo in-joke though isn’t it?
Looks exactly the same as every other variant of the model which looks exactly the same as every other model in the range, which are all versions of Fords.
Not special, not groundbreaking, Not horn inducing or clever (especially compared to Volvos of yore).
    What then?

raise the fines/penalties and put out lots of unmarked police cars with rear facing cameras, and then just pull them over and fine.

Would raise tons of money which I don’t care if they put back into building the police force up. Rather have lots of police around than people exercising their illegal right to put everyone elses safety at risk.

Indeed. Raise the penalty from £50 or whatever up to £1000 and a ban.

Drink driving used to be regarded as a minor infringement but sometime in the 70s/80s attitudes changed due to increased enforcement, higher penalties and , not least, an intense publicity campaign. Some people are so thick they need to be told at least ten times a day.
Maybe interrupt their sat nav with a claret strewn infomercial every time they stop at the lights….

She should learn to stay with you long before she’s ready to go riding with you.

I sold my frame on eBay to someone who asked me to keep it for a week till he got paid. I was sceptical and didn’t want to but I gave in and took a £50 deposit through PayPal and bumped up the price. Then when he got paid I dropped it back down to £50 less than the original price.

    You’ve lost me here…

Autotrader sounds worth a go for a tenner. Might give it another couple of days before auction time.

If it’s on this evening, it’ll be gone tomorrow.
What else you going to do on a sunday other than buy an old banga?

Suburban Reuben . You forget the reason he wanted to sell from previous posts.

He seems to get shit tennents.

For this alone I would sell rather than the stress. He can’t self manage as es miles a way and his agent is useless it seems

I must’ve been on a sickie the day we did that…

Renton, How many years have you let this out, how many tenants have you had and how many months have you had no tenants? Why were the tenants shit?
I really wouldn’t want to be selling at the moment, though the market might be different up your way. What about a different letting agent?

Also found out we would have an early repayment charge on the mortgage of 3k.

And estate agents and legal fees….

If you’re going to continue renting it out you don’t need to do a damn thing to the layout. It looks decorated and in good repair. Exactly what people want.
    I’d hang on to it.
Sell it when you know where you want to live.

    suburbanreuben

Keep it . You have an asset that will hopefully appreciate in value, and will provide a higher income than you will get at the bank. At the very least it’s value should track the value of anything you might want to buy when you leave the forces, and the rent you get should cover any rent you need to pay.
It’s not a good time make major financial decisions, particularly if you’re a worrier!
I wouldn’t want to buy a house at the moment (unless I was getting a real bargain and it was my “perfect” house), but I wouldn’t want to sell one either.

    If in doubt- do nowt!
