I’m absolutely certain the other guy was in the wrong as I was established on a roundabout and indicating to exit and he just pulled straight out into me.

    Eh?

Devon is fantastic in its own way, but parts of Surrey are also fantastic and have the added benefit of London, 2 airports, close to Europe and a lot more going on. So not a no brainer at all.

No, not a no brainer, not at all! I’m struggling to remember if anywhere in Devon has woods as big as Surrey’s.
Suggestions on a postcard please for big Beech and Oak Woods on hills.
Or anywhere outside the South East…

Charities will often get a will written up for you free if you leave them something…

IME if there is anything that you need done right it’s a will, although whether it’s right or wrong you won’t know anyway…

    +1
It’ll only cost you a couple of hundred quid to get it written up by a solicitor.
It’s money well spent! Just don’t let them appoint themselves Executor.

I just stated I remembered the guy on the phone stating if I didn’t take PPI there was a good chance my application wasn’t successful which was true.

Egg mentioned that to me too. I pointed out that as I was self employed, their T&Cs stated they would only pay out if I went bankrupt.
They gave me the loan anyway.

The Plough in Coldharbour has changed hands earlier in the year. The local Ales are now spot on! Chatting with the Landlord, he mentioned his dream was to run a pub that just served beer and pies! He may have white wine for the lady, but grudgingly…

Sleep with the window open and the heating off! Get a thicker duvet if necessary. There’s no substitute for fresh air!
I always put on a beany hat immediately after exercise or if I rest during.

Eat plenty of veg and drink plenty of beer!

PetPlan Max lifetime cover. She’s covered up to £12k I think
Old English Sheepdog currently 18 months old, first year we paid £42 now we’re at £48 after claiming in the first year for elbow displacia, excess is £75

    Poor doggy!

Let’s hope you don’t need any more safety nets…

I find it sad that people are expecting to have to pay over £5000 in vets’ bills, ( over and above routine worming, vacs, etc )throughout their pet’s life and see insurance as a cheaper option.
Pet insurance encourages breeders to churn out shonky dogs, but at least the financial side is covered, eh?

As an annoyed neighbour who has to tolerate these infernal contraptions between September and Christmas I recommend Stihl products. They are considerably quieter than the cheapies and seem to clear the leaves in half the time.

But they’re OK; they’re a working man’s vehicle, rough and agricultural. Never mind a transit van is more practical in most scenaria. (Is that a word?)
Not as good as a family car though, which is the reason they are bought. Just happen to be classed as a working vehicle so it can go through the business books….

Exactly. You’ll get the kids’ bikes in the back but an 8×4 sheet? Forget it. Once you’ve fitted the very necessary toolsafe box you can’t even load a pallet of dust.

All this talk about monetary cost, what about the environmental cost? Do none of you care?

It’ll be petrol, so it will be cleaner thank a stinky ‘orrible diesel.
It’ll also be one less car that needs to be built at great cost to the environment.
    Win, win!

Would a belt sander be OTT for thin plywood?

Yes, A belt sander will have a flat base so won’t be very effective (or too effective!) on the canoe’s curves. Good ones are heavy and you’ll be knackered in no time.
I assume orbitals will have a soft base that will mould to any curves, within reason.

You could try a cabinet scraper to remove the initial layers of varnish. It’ll save a lot of work, and expensive sheets.

    BT shit.
Fibre broadband from town stops 5 houses down the hill. Ours is Fibre to cabinet, with 2 miles of copper wire across the common.
There are no plans to upgrade it.

    This seems to be the logic from some here;

    SUV = hate
4×4 = cool and practical vehicle

    +1.
I think I’d rather have a Macan, with good brakes, grippy tyres and a nimble chassis up my chuff than one of these monsters:

In the change from the 3.4 to the 3.6 engine (around 2000/1) Porsche changed from a ferrous piston coating to a plastic coating.

This plastic coating is “prematurely” failing – leading to scored bores on flat 6 water cooled from the 996.2 to 997.1 inc cayman and boxster of the same generation.

There are almost no cases of premature bore score in the 3.4 with its more resilient ferrous piston coating. The 3.4 also has a dual row IMS bearing more robust than the 3.6 single row.
Can you translate that into English? 😆
Which are the years to avoid?

With regard to a post above questioning how much really is saved by shopping at Lidl (or Aldi I suppose), my parents switched to Lidl last year and saved easily over £1000 for the year, which is a cheap holiday. We have been Lidlers for years, and the quality is excellent espcially the wine (St Emillion for £10 and Chateau Neuf for £12, our treats) and the best thing is that you’re in and out in 20 mins.

Any savings made in LIDL are immediately spunked on Stollen and proper foreign chocolate…
