I’ve never had one, but do like Alfa’s. Surely they can’t be that bad?

No, they’re not. I think some company (german) car drivers find them intimidating as they remind them of when they were free to choose, instead of having a grey car forced upon them.

It’s not really Barbie pink. How overrated are Sony Ericcson cameras?

This is the concern. But we can get a terraced house in Kingston/ Surbiton/ Norbiton for the cost of a basement flat in Balham/ Wandsworth. Realistically, where can i rent a place with a garden that is close to a park for less than £1300?

Somewhere around Brockwell Park? Herne Hill, Dulwich way..?

After 6 months of living the bachelor life in Brixton, my girlfriend has found a job in London and is moving over here (from Finland).

So you’re thinking of moving to Kingston? Sounds like you want her to go home again…

My perception is that fish isn’t so bad from that perspective.

It’s possibly worse. Hauled out of the sea and dumped in the hold to die slowly under a couple of tons of other fish…

Has anyone else actually seen a veggie/vegan “broken” by bacon?

Yes. One of my oldest friends was vegan for 20 years, as was his wife, and they raised their family as vegans.
One day his 14 year old son came home from school with a packet of rashers as he’d had meat at school and liked it. The the missus was still at work so he thought “Why not”…

My missus is vegetarian but I’m not. She spends half her time in France and half here in England. When she’s away we’ll eat meat 3-4 times a week. When she’s here we won’t have meat in the house. It’s not a problem as I tend to be more “creative” with cooking, but if she’s here more than a couple of weeks I have to skulk off to the butcher for one of his pork pies and shovel it down at my favourite bench in the park.
I do feel healthier when I don’t eat meat though.

Stroke and kiss it for me and say you’ll love it forever

I will! Well, at least as long as I’m agile enough to get down and in!
My mum had a 1750GTV when I was a nipper and I never realised just how small they are. The first couple I looked at had sunroofs, which take up some headroom. I don’t know how David Cironi fits in there; He’s about six and a half feet tall apparently…

Confession, I owned a 1600 GT Junior, I restored it from a neglected run around, that car brought me to tears on many occasions.. sheer frustration whilst rebuilding it, and once done… driving it. No other car I’ve owned has, nor I guess, will ever stir my beating heart and twist my soul like that car.

I picked one up in the summer; been sitting in a garage for the last 25 years and emerged in fine fettle but with seized brakes. I’ve had them replaced and an Alfaholics handling kit fitted, and rust stuff squirted wherever it can get squirted. Got it back last week. My god it’s fun but with only 110HP it’s crying out for another 50. Plans are afoot…

While I’d agree with every word of that, actually finding one might be a bit of a problem…

It was a piece of piss for me as I’d got to a point where I hated it; sounds like you’ve got a real desire to shake it off too.

That’s the key. You have to have reached the point where you really want to stop smoking.
If you haven’t reached that point yet it’ll be hard. If you have, it’s easy!

What sort of figure are we talking here? Unless the figure is substantial I’d be inclined to write this down to experience.

is that a hysteria post ? have you read the thread or decathlons website ?

Have you read only the Decathlon website?
This is from July 2016, so pretty up to date.

    http://www.ethicalconsumer.org/companystories.aspx?CompanyId=79672&CategoryId=341

Whilst Decathlon and their customers may be satisfied their sources are ethical by a few “certificates” other manufacturers are going the extra mile to be as certain as possible, Fjallraven and North Face particularly, so not cheap though. I’ll try and find a link.

because instead of making a lazy link to an irrelevant video, implying that Decathlon used unethical down, I actually looked up their policy.

I haven’t accused Decathlon of anything. If you’re happy that they are fully in control of their supply chain, then that’s fine and dandy. If you’re happy in the knowledge that your down came from geese raised on an industrial scale primarily for their meat, then you go for it.

    suburbanreuben

Have you actually watched the video or are you just dismissing it out of hand? It points out that as ethical as many companies claim to be they cannot be totally sure of the source of their materials. I’d imagine a “death certificate” would be easy to forge or obtain corruptly.
Man made alternatives are available, and don’t get totally effed by a bit of unexpected drizzle.

I can’t imagine a chinese meat gooses life is much fun either…

it can’t see the video being at work but can guess the content. Are you actually aware of Decathlons ethics on sourcing down or just pointlessly trolling?

No, I am not aware of Decathlon’s ethics on sourcing down (I shall look them up), and I am not pointlessly trolling. I hope it persuades people to consider the alternatives.
(Why is it that some people, if confronted with an opinion that offends them, can only see it as trolling? Narrow mindedness?)
