You can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but old dogs can teach puppies plenty of bad habits!

    Like grandparents…

14 is quite an age to have to put up with a bouncy pup. Is he/she used to living with another dog or is this the first time their domain has been threatened?
It will be easier if they are different sexes.

I’ve said it before, but she’ll go down as the single most disastrous PM in this country’s history.

Hardly. Cameron’s already nailed that honour for eternity.
    Slimy little shit.

Fry up some sliced garlic “chips” and chili slivers in plenty of olive oil, until both are golden brown and crispy. Remove the chili and garlic and replace with discs of aubergine. Fry these until soft and coloured. Serve topped with chilis and garlic together with strips of Basil leaf.

Fry several cloves in a generous amount of olive oil, until they start to go brown. Remove the cloves and pour the oil over pasta. Enjoy.
Scoff the cloves separately. The two different flavours are quite a contrast.

And yet Alpins do very well in the wet in all the tests and from personal experience I’ll simply say that I found exactly the opposite to be true. Water clearance is exceptional and grip as good as my Summer tyres on wet roads in Summer.

You carry on buying them. I’ll avoid them like the plague. I’ve no axe to grind here. I bought them because of their good reviews, but the test reviews bore no comparison to my experience.

Interesting how Michelin Alpin seem to be the default choice here in the feench alps (where we normally have snow in winter…He says waiting for some…)

Presumably fitted to Citroens, Renault and Peugeot…
The Alpins were passable in fresh snow (in 3 years I probably got 3-4 months of experience of them through all stages of English snow, fresh , hard pack, ice, slush, etc, but in all conditions they were inferior to the Pirellis( which are presumably the default choice the other side of the border), but in rain they were downright dangerous!

Did the owners/proprietors of the car park take reasonable action to prevent people incurring foreseeable injuries on their premises? If not they could be liable for negligence.
I’m sure an ambulance chasing lawyer could winkle a couple of thou out of them if engaged…

Nokian Weatherproof. Have them on the Subaru and they’re great in the rain and mud, and OK in the dry. Had the first Icy test today and they feel fine. Fully expect them to be excellent in snow if we have any.

Previous winter/all season tyres have been Vredestein Quatrac (OK), Pirelli Wintersport (excellent) and Michelin Alpin (absolute garbage). All driven in all conditions inc 2′ of snow.

Pretty sure you can set up a will where your daughter gets the house but the wife can live in it as long as she wants.

This is it. Leave it to your daughter with the proviso that your partner can live in it until she dies/remarries/cohabits/for ten years from your date of death, or whatever. Do not leave it to your partner and expect her to leave it to your daughter. Who knows what the rest of her life may throw up.
Speak to a Solicitor, a proper one, not a “will writer”. A couple of hundred quid spent now will potentially save your daughter, and your partner, a fortune later.

Folks don’t use indicators these days, it’s only those of my age and older that seem to have any consideration or mindfulness to use them, hence my request.

They seem to be an afterthought on many cars, tucked into the only spare place in the light sculptures that are becoming more prevalent.

Why are you bothered about adding value, build what works for you best and it may or may not add value but at least it’ll be what you want while you live there.

Driving is no longer fun – cars are too fast and capable – even non-sporty cars, and have outgrown the road network

So, get an old car; No airbags, no side protection, no seat belts even. Makes you a far safer driver!
AS for Automatic headlights- they don’t work in fog. And who had the effing stupid idea of driving lights on the front only?

It’s ‘offers in excess of £60k’ for about an acre, but around here (south east), that’s probably cheap enough to suggest planning is unlikely.

Bloody expensive for a “field” though…
Could have an Overage on it too.

I thought that’s what parents were supposed to do; it’s the law, isn’t it?

    Yup.
When my daughter was little, no party was complete until she’d had a dance with her dear old dad.
    Yet now…

In over 25 years as a kitchen fitter I have never heard of a builder fitting the granite themselves. It is a specialised job that requires accurate templating. The join in the centre of the hob is dire. and the other join isn’t much better its wider at the back than at the front. There is no way I would accept the two different profiles.
Granite work tops are expensive and supposed to be a thing of beauty.
If you accept that it will annoy you forever.

Maybe he got it for never being convicted of tax evasion?

Always have to laugh at people who believe spending £££’s on a bike they’ll ride for a couple of years think £850 is a lot for a pet dog! ‘You can get a xxxx for £250’ bit like saying you can get a mountain bike from Asda for £119!

It’s not at all like that. The “quality” of the dog doesn’t fall the less you pay. It could be said it rises.
Personally, I think £850 is a daft price to pay for a dog when you can get one for £150, already vaccinated and checked for temperament and defects. It’ll love you just the same, and your kids will love it just the same…
…and by rescuing something unloved you might just teach them something…

none of this overpriced designer mongrel for our house. I particularly enjoy people moving out the way of marley when he’s out on a walk lol

Has he got the proper dog like back legs or the new “designer” kennel club approved back legs?

Chances are he’ll be fine and you’ll just be paying for someone else’s ongoing problems. Stick the money in a jar!

They’re great little dogs. If someone is willing to shell out a grand on a designer mongrel instead of a pedigree puff, they’ll realise they’re just better and next time they might go the whole hog, save themselves a fortune and get a proper bitza.

wolfenstein, if you’re getting genuine flu every year you ought to talk to your doc about getting annually vaccinated – you’re clearly more exposed (or susceptible, or unlucky) than most people

If he’s getting proper flu every year and hasn’t pegged out yet, we need to drain him of his blood..! 😈

Ensure she’s upstairs when the postman calls.
We had a stairs problem when we moved house last summer. Moved from 6″rise, 9″ tread to 9″ rise, 6″ tread stairs. Our fat little Jack Russell couldn’t cope at all. Legs and body length were just wrong and she wasn’t happy.
The familiar sound of the postman’s van got her down like a rocket.

If you must breed from a pedigree dog the best thing you can do is get a poodle up it.
    Seems to improve any breed.
    Mongrels are best!
Get to the dogs’ home and find something unique.
