You want a carpenter, not a locksmith and definitely not a joiner.

Why on earth would you want a Chippy rather than a joiner?

Labour only, £120 is a nice easy day for them.

    That’s a day staying in bed…

Rebas seem to be infinitely rebuildable- probably the same with other Rock Shox.

Had a ten mile run early doors so didn’t have the legs left for a ride so took the Alfa out for a drive instead. A month’s worth of salt on the road washed away by two days’ rain, and a clear blue sky over and around the South Downs. Perfick!

(in 60 miles or so I only saw one cyclist…)

If you don’t fancy doing it yourself get a joiner in to do it. Fitting locks is Meat and drink to them at probably half the rate you’ve been quoted.

I reckon there’ll be and accident and Helen will have the choice to finish him off but does the decent thing and saves him.

    Close but no ceegar…

Lily Pargiter runs him off the road and co-driver Kenton has to make the choice….

Tone of conversation with Henry sounded like he wasn’t going to snatch him, but it did look like he had something in store for Helen.

    Bye bye Gideon.

Bit different, Jaguar XF Sportbrake, 40mpg+, good to drive, plenty of space, good cockpit and very comfortable over long journeys.

I went about 20 years ago and it was starting to get some sort of infrastructure together. Two weeks and you’re just scratching the surface.
A week on the reef and a week up the jungle in San Ignacio would suit me fine!
An adventurous retired friend went a couple of years back and she loved it. Still chuckles at people talking like Pirates

There’s nowt wrong with Autotrader. I’ve sold my last three cars with them within the week. Realistic pricing and lots of pictures are the key. There’s a helluva lot of used cars around a the moment.
I don’t think I would be impressed with a low mileage diesel any more than a high mileage diesel.

Don’t panic. Stock up on Goodlife picador parsnip and carrot nut burgers and LM sausages – if you’re cooking veg, something starchy and meat for the rest of the family you can swap out the meat and use these instead for a vegan option.

The Goodlife stuff is tasty but the Linda McCartney stuff was full of crap last time I looked. Hydrogenated trans-fatty palm oil yumminess!

Happier? Surely you mean faster? Unless you are such a Riding God that you are faster on a rigid singlespeed than something than bounces and has gears?

Free your mind, your ass will follow!

You don’t need gears or suspension on a mountain bike but that doesn’t mean everyone should start out on a rigid singlespeed, does it?

Most of us did, didn’t we?
Then we needed to spend money to be “happier”…

Not enough to make a worthwhile shares investment? Dunno. Hence the question. What do you reckon STW?

    It certainly is!
Open a Stocks & Shares ISA with the likes of Hargreaves Lansdowne, choose 4 or 5 diverse funds and forget about it. Fundsmith ain’t a bad choice for starters.

Magura Mt5 – stupidly powerful but annoying lever shape that is too far away from the bar

Why not get the next ones up the range, with adjustable reach levers?

Head out East to Santiago de Cuba and beyond. Not sure what it’s like now but 25 years ago it wasn’t touristy like Havana. Varadero is like any other hot resort close to Canada. Baracoa is a worth the trip past Guantanamo and up through the mountains.
If you’re going to Trinidad stay a couple of days so you can see it before and after every road is clogged with tour buses.

In bed with the flu. And a spot of mild pneumonia as well now.
Wife just brought me a plate of MacSweens (the big daddy of haggis) neeps and tatties. Feel much better now. Might sneak down and have a small schnifter, medicinal of course. I do have a couple of Compass Box specials to get into ….

The Flu? And you can type this?

Mice will readily take bait from a trap, rats won’t.

They will. They seem particularly fond of Chorizo.

Rats. You won’t hear the mice. Does it smell? Rat wee is particularly pungent.
Get some bigger traps. Don’t use poison. If they die where you can’t get them it’ll niff for ever!

hsbc just announced theyre shuting another 55 branches. so even more crap service.

Is it though? Lloyds have similarly said they’re intending to shut 200 branches or so, but apparently many have less than 20 customers per week. My local branch was closed a few years back. 50 years ago it might have been busy but I never once saw anyone in there aside from the two cashiers. It was certainly handy but must have cost Lloyds a small fortune.

Until recently the Co-op bank were excellent, with their call centre in Manchester, very friendly staff and no waiting, at all! The waiting times are now a tad longer but the new website is a joke. I’ve had to reset all my security details 3 times since they implemented the new system as it sometimes forgets to ask me to use the silly little card reader thing. Their fraud department doesn’t find it strange to send customers Emails from “Fraud-dep.com” asking you to phone them on a special number, “not your normal number, as we need to speak to you urgently!”
I’ve moved to Lloyds. No issues so far.
Thinking about Handelsbanken, a Swedish bank growing rapidly in the UK, with proper old fashioned bank managers who make all the decisions about their customers and branch.

    How does that work then?

It’s not up to the EA to accept offers, it’s the sellers.
If a house is a probate sale then the Executor may well take the EA’s advice on price, marketing and viability of offers. It is simple enough to promote a favoured offer whilst still remaining within the law or professional guidelines.
“In my view this buyer is not proceedable” carries a lot of weight with a busy solicitor or vendor. Happened to me last year, from both directions.

A vacant house needing some modernisation screams probate sale to me.

In which case you have a cabal of greedy relatives to negotiate with.

    Good luck!

Indeed! Last summer I put in an offer on a wee cottage that had been in the same family for over a hundred years. My initial offer was declined so I then offered the asking price. Some of the half dozen beneficiaries decided that if someone was willing to offer the asking, then someone would surely offer more. It’s still for sale.
Often though, probate sales don’t get to market, especially if the house offers “potential” . It’ll go straight to the EA’s builder chum with the promise of a repeat fee and/or bung in 12 months time…
