“Yeah it’s interesting when he’s desperate to retire why he’s not putting this money towards it.”

    “, I always have a 3″ Festool lock knife”

Festool make lock knives? Are they any good?

“Are we still getting knickers twisted about this? “

No, we’re not. It’s a rhetorical question aimed at the hard of thinking (and there appear to be a few here) who cannot imagine why anyone could possibly need to carry a knife.

“If you need a knife at work, use a knife that is kept at work”

Part of my work involves visiting clients in their own homes. Should I go without my tools?

My daughter has an UP!, has done for 7 years, and loves it! Not the gti but the 70 hp version. It is enormous fun! I would imagine the Gti would be even more fun. It’s just about the same size, weight and power as the original golf gti. What’s not to like?

    The seats are comfy!

I carry a 3″ opinel daily, and a 7″ saw, but I have good reason to, and I’m not going clubbing or to the footie.

I’m a 60 year old Chap though and am unlikely to get stopped…

“For relatives of T. rex. We’d love to have them but it’s something else to look after and M. Reynard is a worry locally.”

We lived for 5 years or so with a fox colony only about 20 yds from our girls. They were well protected though with the wire netting of their tennis court size run extending a couple of feet down and 6 feet up.

we didn’t lose a single one! Though maybe the presence of a couple of terriers helped…

My Panerai was never serviced once in 25 years. Wore it to work, out in the woods etc, and it still kept perfect time. Nothing “dropped off”. The only reason I sold was it was too a massive a lump of cold on my wrist to pedal with…

If he can’t read it but it gives him comfort in putting it on there is no point of depriving him of it for a few weeks, or months.

Yes, it will be expensive at Breitling, but better they do it than your friendly neighbourhood horologist.

There is veg and there is veg…

Root veg are stuffed full of carbs.

Do you cook from fresh or partake of processed meals?

Giving up wheat is a good idea, and sugar, and bananas.

Eat plenty of leafy greens and legumes.

    Why stop there?
I was thinking about residents parking costs on my way back from my morning swim….
A ten foot car could be a bit cheaper than at present – say £100
Each additional foot and it doubles!
So, an 11 foot car is £200
    A 12 foot car is £400
    A 13 foot car is £800
    A 14 foot car is £1600
    A 15 foot car is £3200
    a 16 foot car is £6400
    etc…
Builders may moan, but little 600 cc japanese trucks have a bigger bed than a massive Vw Marauder or whatever.

The same exponential rates could equally be applied to payment by the hour.
    It focusses the mind….

I had a green revolution about 9 months ago, and feeling allthe better for it! Instead of a bacon butty most lunchtimes i scoff some local greens – chard, cavolo nero, broccoli, or spinach at lunch, with a couple of eggs, kimchi, avocado and beetroot.

it doesn’t seem to stop my blood sugar levels from spiralling (no processed food here!), though curiously , over Christmas, and mince pies, stollen, grog and all the rest, my HVAC dropped from 45 to 41….

It’s a piece of cake these days!  My missus has just had an aortic valve replaced with a bit of bacon. A long (12 hour) operation and she felt like shit for a week or so, was out in 10 days and no ongoing meds! She’s on Bisoprolol temporarily but the Co-codomol hasn’t been bothered. Now getting restless and bored, waiting for re-hab physio work.

    You’ll walk it!

You’re on a loser with this from the start. The edge will have to be perfectly square and flat. a sawn finish will not be enough, and there should be no voids in the ply  – unlikely if B&Q or wickes are the source.

When you say “edge banding” , do you mean the iron on shit?

I’d be inclined to use some good quality Birch Ply and leave the edges on display. It’s expensive stuff but looks a helluva lot better than cheap hardwood ply, and you may find offcuts from a sawmill. If you’re down south , Wests in Petworth often have 18″ x 4′ offcuts for a few quid, but many other places do too…

    Church’s shoes.

I inherited a few pairs, from the 60s, from my old man.

They fit like a glove but were in dire need of re-soling, so I sent them off to Northants…  Re-soling 5 pairs was eye wateringly expensive but they came back as good as new, and I expect them to outlast me!
