And the Spanish taxistas aren’t interested? Is that likely to change?

Anyone banking 11k in gain per year has far too much capital to have put it into an ISA anyway.

Not so. Over the years the total size of ISAs held can grow quite subsantially.

Tbh i try and split my returns tax free, so this year 5k divs and as stated, up to 11k cgt free.

Poolman, you live in Spain, right? Without getting too personal, how are your tax affairs? Do you pay tax here or there? Does the Spanish taxman recognise ISAs, etc?

i understand the basic principal that you can bed and isa a set of shares so that they are basically wrapped in the ISA and sheltered from future capital gains tax.

Bed and ISA is more about crystallising an existing capital gain to within this years CGT allowance. By swapping shares in and out yearly you could maximise the use of your annual CGT allowance instead of paying tax on a few years’ gains in one hit.
The initial holdings don’t need to be huge. A keen eye or a hatful of luck can soon make Bed and ISA worthwhile. Fill your ISA first.

Pretty shocking comment from her defence team. She’s a drug user I would have thought that she would be most unsuitable as a doctor / surgeon. Hence jail time is irrelevant to her desired career.

Never been near a medical school? Biggest bunch of pissheads ever! You’d never let a white male doctor anywhere near you ever again.

When you say your car stereo has the socket, do you mean a 3.5mm aux in socket (like a headphone socket) or a USB port?

    One of these: http://www.chromelondon.com/iphonemp3-autoswitch-lead-stereo—7-pin-aux-4377-p.asp

The only reason anyone drives them privately is because diesel was historicly cheap compared to petrol which is a cleaner fuel.
    ….. in the UK.

    Not elsewhere in Europe.

    98cents in Luxemburg…!

If you take car tax out of the equation then diesel would be the cheaper option from the get go.

I dread to think what my daily runabout would cost of it were petrol.

I love the South, but hated the driving – when we go next time we are flying between different places

But that’s half the fun, especially in the South! You’ll miss the best bits if you fly.

OP, Hire a car in San Diego, head north to San Francisco, and then decide if you want to keep heading north and drop the car off in Oregon or turn back via Las Vegas. 3 weeks might not be enough time, but the California coast road is a MUST!

My wife doesn’t read this. She was 39 when we married, she had been SCUBA diving for years but never met Mr Right. She married a diver then discovered he was a major-league God-botherer and they divorced 6 months later. In desperation she placed a personal ad in The Times mentioning sea, snow and mountains and I happened to buy the paper that day and happened to scan the personals because I had started thinking it was time I settled down. We had our son when she was 41 and thank God it all went well. He is now beating me in TTs.

Just put in max £2.5k > swap money between this and a 123 every month to meet requirements. Get interest paid each month in both. You will get 5% (4.89% Gross) on this, 1.5% on the remainder in the 123 with Santander. Or split the remaining £12.5k between the Santander 123 and premium bonds / other accounts for potential greater gain.

You may be able to have multiple accounts, You, the missus, and joint. Transfer to Tesco bank (allows multiple accounts) the minimum monthly, and transfer back from a different account. You may also need to set up direct debits for each account, which is a pain, but you could pull 4% in total with zero risk.
Or just stick it in premium bonds.

But BBC well worth the £12 or so per month.

Worth it for Radio 4 alone!

As Jamba says, If you absolutely have to have £15k in a years time, don’t risk it.
Tesco bank will pay 3% on £3k, but you can open two accounts each. Nationwide, Santander, LLoyds and others offer similar…

But the weathering is what makes it beautiful!

    Quite!
The cedar feather edge on my old house was 60 years old, untreated and still in perfect nick, a stunning silver colour. Why anyone would prefer an artificial red colour to the natural patina defeats me…

    Better go to specsavers?

    Went last week! 😆
A close up would help! There may also be other spacers on the axle, or maybe the cranks aren’t fully home?

The chainset is a sr Suntour model the same as came on my 529. Both the 529 and this 605 have 73mm bb shells so I’m not sure what the issue is ? There is one spacer on the drive side bb cup and that’s it.

And the spacer in the pic is fitted on the non drive side…

Ask a lawyer this is not something you should try to work out.

Also give your greedy sister a slap and tell her to be respectful! Tell her she can choose between the existing offer, or spend the difference on lawyer fees until she gets nothing because the estate is gone and lawyers own the lot.

+1, and you will be needing UK lawyers and Cypriot lawyers, who’s eyes light up at the thought of dealing with UK complainants.
Under UK law I believe the joint account is not part of the estate, so goes to the girlfriend. It may be different in Cyprus, and they probably have different rules on Inheritance tax and probate. Your sister could be about to open Pandora’s box…

Ask them to send it via TransferWise. The exchange rate will be better than the bank or paypal, and any funny business involved won’t get past Transferwise.
It’s cheaper for the buyer and cheaper for you. Use this as the reason. If they demur then cancel the sale.
All you’ll need to give them is your IBAN number.

Need to explain it as diplomatically as possible, so maybe ask a Thai colleague. But, I would try doing it in a letter so that this colleague can read it again, in private without any potential obligation on her/his part that culture might dictate in a face to face meeting.

    Top advice!
