How much are the Alpine A110 going for theses days? A lovely looking car!

    Or howabout an old Alfa

“Doesn’t need to be practical – but does need to have some character, either in looks, how it drives, engine – preferably all 3”
Make your mind up! do you want to pull the birds, or enjoy driving it in a bobble hat?
A later Porsche Cayman is probably what you want. A gorgeous looking car and de-clawed lest it embarrasses the precious 911.
    Claws grow back…

“‘Ventana lockdown build’ sounds interesting – any pics? What you building? 👍”

My old El Ciclon has been resurrected with DT EXM130 forks, butch wheels and a cheap dropper. Trying to find some 150mm, straight steerer forks and will fit with a 2 deg angleset to replecate the “The Path” edition…
I have pics but can I get them on here….???? Phhhh….

They’re brilliant! ordered some for my Ventana lockdown build and have ordered 2 more pairs…
I can’t understand the “hard to bleed” comments. They take about 5 mins to cut the hoses down, and work fine with XT rotors.
And at £150 odd from Merlin, what’s not to like?

“stellar performance over the last few years.”

17% pa on average over the last 100 years…

Currently soaring thanks to being heavily into Tesla, and rivalling Gold mines’ performance this year…

If you want to compare various Funds and Trusts have a look here;https://www.trustnet.com/
It can be confusing so play around with it but it’ll tell you which Trusts or funds are good/bad over 1m-5 years, which sectors are performing, etc, etc…
Personally, I love Baillie Gifford Trusts. SMT and EWT are proven performers doing spectacularly at the moment. Many of their trusts/Funds are regular top 5 contenders, if not leaders…

“My experience of insurance has not been good. You buy it for peace of mind, happily pay the premiums then find out the exclusions and it isn’t really worth having.

Now I only take insurance when legally compelled to. Just my view, insurance companies are not charities.”

    +1 !

What’s going in the bag? It looks massive!

    suburbanreuben

    It’s going to cost ya!
I looked into it about 20 years ago and the premiums were something like 25% of the monthly benefits. Add to which, being self employed they weren’t going to pay out until my business folded or I went bankrupt, by which time I’d have been past caring.
As above, stick some money away for a rainy day if you can, or develop a good line in credit.
    Or stop hurting yourself…

Getting them on and off isn’t the problem. They just seem to stick to the rim like nothing else!
    DT rims, stans fluid…

They’re absolute buggers to remove from rims. Just breaking the seal has given me more grief after a couple of weeks, on two different tubeless tyres, than I can ever remember on anything else, ever…

    Probably not…
I have some battle ropes in the garden, and half an hour with them whenever I remember has been far more effective than a couple of hours down the gym twice a week. Throw in the shit loud music and young’uns lounging around texting their mates…
I don’t miss it at all!

All you need is a sharp new £10 panel saw…
It won’t take you any time at all. Probably a lot quicker than clamping up guides and stuff.

That’s a lovely looking place. Stop fretting!
I’d expect it to be on rightmove, which it is, and I’d have given the EA 6 weeks to sell it. If not, try someone else. How long have you given them ?

Don’t even think about anything else. I have feet like frogman’s flippers, with added gouty bunions, and nothing comes close to Lake shoes. I’ve tried ’em all…

Minirig are great. A bit light on the bass, but they are tiny, and you can get a subwoofer too…

    Chickens are the Best!
We had 7 ex batts that were deemed past their economic usefulness at 2 years old. They still layed an egg a day each for the next few years. And they tasted better than you can ever imagine!
Dogs will keep foxes away. We had a den of foxes in the woods, less than 100 yds from the chooks and they never went anywhere near them, maybe cos of the Jack Russell who regarded them as Her dinner, and one did meet that fate… If you have a dog ensure they’re not hungry. It can be a pain to keep them separated. The other dog was fine though and would just keep an eye on them.
In winter they had porridge for breakfast, and mangos from LIDL year round. otherwise they ate scraps and loved earthworms, so if you start digging you’ll get mobbed!
Their shit is pure gold for gardeners. Just about the best fertilizer you can get!

An Alfa 105 convertible or spider is doable for less than 20k. Late 2 litres are available in auto, and they’re a lot of fun! The spider continued in production well into the 80s and had all the bells and whistles. There are a few spiders around for less than £10k, leaving a few quid for alfaholics upgrades.
Reliability? I’ve put 30k miles on mine in 3 years and the only failure has been the 20 year old Japanese battery…

    ooh, ooh…

Have you checked the history of the car online? It sounds positively dangerous!
Have you spoken to the previos, pre dealer, owner? How long did the dealer have it. It’s very young for such a highly regarded (?<!) car…

What tyres are they? Cheap, worn Korean ditchfinders or newish decent brands? Same front and rear? How much tread?
My Alfa 147 was virtually undriveable with 2mm tread on Michelins. New tyres, problem solved!

    They really are lovely forks!

Vicious Cycles steel forks. I have some on my Soulcraft and they’re a little more forgiving than RC31s. Look better too!
Or, Kona project 2s, triple butted from ’95-’97 ish; not the modern monstrosities!

Not at all Slowoldman. Starting up my old Alfa never fails to put a smile on my face, and redlining it in the hindhead tunnel turns that into an insane cackle…
