Your lad might find it cheaper to buy tools from abroad! Purchases from abroad, up to a value of £130 or so, don’t attract VAT or customs duty (though a penny over, and they do! so check the figure!), and the exporters will knock off the domestic VAT for exports, usually 20%. Some companies won’t send stuff to the UK under the value of £130 or so, but many will, and even goods worth more often creep through…
Dictum.com are a massive german tool co and will send any value of goods to the UK, and the postage is usually minimal.
    Hyvlar.se too…
    or direct from America…

You need to use a cabinet scraper on that, not sand it. then oil it …
Once every hour for a day,
once every day for a week,
once every week for a month,
    and once a month for a year…

And it will still look shit if you get soap on it, or don’t wipe up after you!

Also, if you have a cheap lpg pump near you, within say 2 miles, it may work but otherwise you’ll get fed up making a special trip to refill!

I converted my subaru Forester about 15 years ago. I wouldn’t do it again. The figures really don’t add up unless you do a VERY high mileage. I sold the car 6 years later and it still hadn’t payed for itself. Also, the valve seats weren’t hard enough to cope with reduced protective fuel additives, and adjusting the valves on a subaru is a nightmare!
However, LPG is something like 115 RON, so if you help it burn quicker with the addition of methanol, then supercharge the engine , you can get very high power figures indeed!
But for economy? Nah… buy a volkswagen …

I hate to imagine hitting a hidden nail with a router!

I’ve never had a french car that’s had rear camber adjustment, and I must have had a dozen or so…

I have a 100mm travel, 27.5″ DT Swiss fork with an 1 1/8″ steerer. It’s bloody good! Not for sale either. Just letting you know decent forks are out there…

I have these on two bikes. They’re way more powerful, and have more feel, than the XTRs on my other bike, and half the price.
A bit fragile though if you’re cack handed…

I think you’re right Josh. That Bosch does look easily on/offable, and folds up neatly
    So I’ve just ordered one!
It’s Bosch. What could possibly go wrong…?

“There is a bloody big foot plate to keep the bastarding thing in place and the bench dogs (which are alot lower profile than those clamps) and the sliding tops make holding really irregular stuff pretty useful. aka guitars and round things.”

Very true! And as for much of the time I’ll be planing/carving large flat maple boards that step could be just the help I need

Are the clamps any good on those Keters? Could be a little intrusive, unlike bench dogs. I’ll check ’em out! Thanks Kayak

Nothing Fancy needed. I want stability and a good clamping capability, both vertical and horizontal. Bench dog holes would be good too…

“I have never had any issues with Hermes, I find them better than royal mail by a long shot.”

    This!
A year ago I couldn’t have said a bad thing about the Royal Mail, but it seems a postie’s life isn’t worth living unless he/she follows procedures to the letter, which usually results in my having to visit the depot at 8am, when I should be at college miles away, or even worse, the local post office, which opens at 9.30, but not on saturdays when it’s shut….
Never had a problem with Hermi though!

Doesn’t look like there is… Looks to be a very shitty design/solution to a problem that didn’t exist…

“Did you get road or fast road pads? or track/racing pads?

I ask as more racing oriented pads don’t work very well when they are cold, they are not designed for road driving, as they won’t get up to a hot enough temperature to work properly.”

Just the standard “OE replacement” pads and discs, Brembo branded garbage! Nothing fast road, sporty, or such like. ECP- Euro car parts- not EBC or mintex, which I run on my old Alfa, and are superb, but a completely different kettle of fish…

    And thanks for the lesson…

“i stand by my comment, particularly with brakes.”

    And I second it!
JUst cos it says “Brembo” on the box, it doesn’t mean they’re built to the same standard as Brembo four pots. The ones I bought from ECP for my Subaru were utter garbage! Despite claiming to be OE quality the pads only had 2/3 of the pad area as the genuine parts, so overheated easily and warped the (Brembo) discs in no time.

“EDIT: also, would it be more problematic setting up as a partnership than sole trader?”

It may be very problematic. As I remember it, though it may have changed, your son would be liable for any liabilities the other fella may have, and vice versa. He would have to be VERY certain he trusted him 100%!

“I’m struggling to understand why you would want fitted sides and backs too.”

It’s a lot easier to make a wardrobe carcass in the factory/workshop and fit it on site this way. It will lose a fair amount of space though as the alcove will not be square, but it should be easy enough to keep an airflow around the wardrobe, not inside the wardrobe, with hidden vents top and bottom. If you have any sort of damp problem you NEED this, whatever the missus likes or dislikes….
It shouldn’t be hard for a local joiner to beat a Sharps quote. I was well pissed off when I realised I was only quoting half as much…
