Even cheaper horrible GM parts bin that my 95, with the added bonus of the chance of a a bulkhead that you might be able to see daylight through. Avoid.

And yet, the colours don’t quite all match.

To each their own, but it’s not for me.

If it’s all the same colour, is it even genuine Kashima?

Recently though ive been seeing people ride bikes far too long for them. Then pushing the saddle as far forward as possible to compensate.

Too long in your opinion. I have my saddle slammed forwards as I like a roomy cockpit stood up, but my STA is a little slack, so to get the weight forwards on a relatively slack front end when climbing I don’t want to have the nose of the same on my coccyx.

I rode my singlespeed 26″ Sidekick up at Leamington a few weeks ago. It was terrifying and knackering, but I didn’t die. Less than 60psi in the tyres would probably have helped a fair bit though, and I need to get the front end at a more reasonable height, it’s waaaay too low at the moment. Got to say though, my Izzo is a riot up there (and Northampton). So much so that I keep trashing wheels by going a bit too hard for my limited skill set.

I’ve just planted a load of pot bound, stunted, yellowing tomatoes in dry, stony, lumpy clay.  I’m not sure what I’m hoping will happen tbh, it just felt like after several months I’d give them a new view.

Are sugarsnap peas and baby leaf spinach just young versions of the big ones, or a separate variety?

I’ve had since great products and brilliant aftersales from OneUp. Great company to deal with. These are definitely on my radar.

Hope also did 3 bolt rotors and started off with a super clunky spline on adaptor that accepted a 5 bolt rotor. The spline on adaptor was also super wide inc its locking, so non-drive flange was pushed way inboard. The worst of all approaches.

Yup, they couldn’t even agree on one standard for the same bloody hubs. Bulbs had at least three.

Edit: ffs, i give up with this bloody editor

If your centre lock rotors are moving on the splined mount on the hubs, they’re not installed correctly or either the hub or rotor is knackered.

I’ve seen it on multiple wheels on multiple bikes, both straight from the factory and shop/self maintained. And with torques checked with a torque wrench.

Eg brand new DT factory wheels with brand new Shimano rotors. Took them off, checked everything, retorqued, still doing it. But definitely not the only one. My RS4s with brand new rotors do it as well. I’ve also seen it with Shimano hubs and rotors.

Maybe it’s an ‘opposite ends of tolerances’ issue, or something else, but I’d very much disagree with your ‘presented as absolute fact’ statement.

Its friday, the sun is shining, the weekend is about to begin, smile…. FFS.

Well, I would head out and ride my bike in the lovely weather, but as this is one of my migraine triggers, it’s lead to me kind of withdrawing from one of my favorite things to do in life.

Serious contraventions of rule 1 here.

Before I started having steroids injected into my head, followed by 31 injections every three months, and now a self injection every month with not great side effects, I was on between 16 and 20 migraine days per month. Chances are some of those would fall on a Monday.

Yes, it’s such a convenient excuse, what with the nausea, the tunnel vision, the depression, the searing pain, the dizziness, the tremors, the fatigue, and then followed by the side effects from the drugs and the ‘hangover’. And the effects on personal life and relationships.

My wife also suffers with them hormonally, to the point where her previous employer started disciplinary processes, but backed down pretty soon once she pointed out the pattern of them, and reinforced it with an endocrinologist’s letter

So there’s a little understanding why your initial post has pissed a good number of people off.

    Accord wagon, Avensis estate. V70.

Someone may be along soon and recommend a Saab 95. I’d advise against this. My Aero was a one trick pony (fastish in a straight line) but shit at almost everything else other than being big. It’s a Vectra in an ugly frock. Conversely, I love my subsequent v70 far more than a man of my non pensionable age should. It just does everything better. Everything seems thought out, well placed, and it’s just a nicer place to be

My 11 year old is on an Endura one, can’t remember which model.

I discounted ‘proper’ DH ones for the weight reasons above, and also the ventilation – I didn’t want him to be put off riding by the horrible sweaty-ness that riding a full on FF can cause on an xc trail.

Am I the only one that doesn’t get these things? Are they not the worst of most worlds? Wobbly, chilly, more exposed, and relatively small? I know they’re the latest fad, and I’m not a hardcore camper, but is the main benefit that you don’t have to fit them in the car and they’re relatively quick to put up? I just assumed that’s countered by the high fuel impact and theft risk.

Thanks all, really appreciate the input, all taken on board. I’ve ordered a Bambu A1. Bit of budget creep but not too bad, and by most  reports seems to fit the ‘minimal faff’ brief.

    £1200 to paint a frame 🥴

Have you looked at what had been done, and tried to work out the hours involved? It’s a lot.

It’s not the 70s anymore, painting a large, relatively simple car panel to a decent standard doesn’t typically cost 200 quid. Extrapolate that out to the fiddly shapes involved in a bike frame, and then add in a complicated masking/airbrushing/hand painting job on top, and it’s not hard to see why it’s that much.

Seems to be a lot of love for Bambu, but I just can’t justify the £400+

The a1 mini looks great and tbh the thought of more plug and play is appealing. But I don’t want the size to be restrictive.

Any reason why the a1 (non mini) isn’t being suggested? It’s£289, and would seem like a reasonable middle ground.

Edit: apologies @diggery, just seen your reference to it!

All good points., hasn’t thought about orientation in the 3d space! Unfortunately, nobody makes an adapter to fit a relatively old slightly obscure bit of electrical kit (Defi Link display plus a few extra bits) in a quite old, relatively obscure car. I have a plan, just need to be able to produce it and may take a few iterations.

But that’s just one use case, I’m not getting hung up on that but it’s raised some good points!

Cheers all, some useful stuff! Looking further into Creality they haven’t got the best rep so might avoid!

As much as I’m of the ‘don’t buy the cheapest thing’ persuasion it’s hard to justify over 400 quid for someone that may not get a ton of use.

I’m not sure the 180mm bed  will be big enough unfortunately – one of the projects I have in mind will need to fit in a car stereo DIN plate, which I think is 180 without the surround.

Definitely after FDM as opposed to resin, as that looks a massive amount of hassle and mess tbh!

One thing I’m rapidly learning is that this topic seems even more tribal than asking what the best wheel size is…

My strimmer is exhibiting almost exactly the same symptoms. It’s currently in bits for a carb rebuild.
But I have no idea what I’m doing, so I’m not sure if that’s the right answer.

I’m not judging anyone who doesn’t share the same outlook as me, but if you have to justify a potential role with a weapons manufacturer with

    good healthcare and …onsite gyms

then I’m not sure that deep down you’d ever feel at peace with it.

    Not a chance.
As a family, we had some pretty hard times in the 90s after my electrical engineer dad was made redundant. He was offered multiple jobs in defence/military but turned them down for ideological reasons. I’d have no qualms doing the same, and my family are all of the same view.

I find it hard to believe folk will give a deposit that size so don’t have too much sympathy. I know where has to be a mutual trust but why not £100 then if there is a delivery on site come to an agreement then a bit more to cover some of the cost

I think that’s unfair tbh. If you were buying a car you’d expect to leave a deposit, if you were having something made to order you would as well.

It never ceases to amaze me how much is acceptable as just ‘normal’ with trades – failing to show up for quotes, failure to communicate, failing to provide quotes after a visit, failing to show up for jobs etc. But this is all just accepted by many as just ‘how it works’. It’s crap.
We’ve now got some really valuable trades we use for stuff time and time again. And our friends do as well because word of mouth sells better than anything else. But we now need someone for a small landscaping job and it’s a bloody PITA. No show after no show. Don’t want the job? Fine, just tell us, that’s no bother at all, but any just string us along.

Not joining in the electric chat, ) other to say that or old 10.8kw shower had a 50a breaker) but I’ve been a lifelong gas advocate. I’d tried multiple electric/induction hobs in holiday homes and they were all a bit crap, up until a posh Neff one we tried a few years ago. Totally changed my mind.

So when we had our kitchen redone last year we ditched the gas one and splashed out on a nice 5 ring induction with a flexible zone that can combine 2 for big pans. It’s bloody brilliant! I’m a very average cook but it makes almost everything so much easier. Cleaning, boiling stuff, fine control over pans etc. I love it
The only downsides we’ve found are as above – it’s crap with a wok, and t can’t do the only vaguely chef-y thing I do of charring peppers. Other than that, would say they’re brilliant, but in my limited experience you really do get what you pay for. Also read the specs and chat to your sparky – ours can be ‘throttled’ for use with lower spec supplies, so make sure you have the right stuff to allow it to work unhindered.

I also want to know more about the robo-vac/biro/cat turd incident.

Unfortunately almost exactly the same as how your mind has filled in the blanks.

They went out in the morning, hoover happily docked, all of their single level house ready for a sweeping of dust. Except the biro that had fallen on the floor. At some point during the course of the, their cat decided to eschew its’ usual use of the litter tray and leave a gift in the middle of the floor.

When the family returned later in the day, most of the floor of their house was covered in a polished emulsion of blue cat excrement, with some flung up the bottom portion of walls for good measure

This guy is a bit of a wazzock, but the video gives you the gist. It’s been invaluable!

Friend who run a business from a farm has one, it’s great. I think it’s a Husky, you set the boundaries by walking round with some sort of magic wand, no wires.
Can apparently set the pattern it mows in if you have nothing better to do with your life. They’re dead chuffed with it. It’s proven far better than the robo hoover they had, especially following the incident with a biro and a cat turd.

Our son was 11 a few months back, and so high school next year. We bought him a g14 for about £120. It’s absolutely fine. Not super fast (he’s discovered it struggles a bit with Pokemon Go) but does everything it needs to

We set really clear boundaries from the start:
    – set it with Family link so we have control over what he installs.
    – Golden rule is ‘no phones upstairs’ as we figure he’s less likely to do something untoward if he’s in clear view of us
    – we have to know the PIN
    – we can look at what’s on it any time, without warning.
    – we’ve always had a ‘no screens at the table’ policy when eating.
    – We haven’t set usage limits but we will if use starts to get too high

I know these may seen draconian to some, but it’s worked well for us so far. We’ve already had a few moments where we’ve had to have discussions about what a friend has said in a chat and how e deal with it, but he’s been really responsible with it so far.

I’m really interested to know more, but that word salad lost me after about 5 minutes (or about 1/16th of the way through)
If you’re going to make something that ugly, you need a better way of convincing people how good it is (and I know it’s good)

Is there a mutator chip available to contract it into one normal sized press release?

Had it been stored/not ridden for a while? It’ll be a leak. It’s always a leak with Shimano. I’m a big fan of shimano stuff in general, but I’ve had it with their brakes.

I can’t explain the ‘film’ as I can never be arsed to delve that far into it before binning then.

Chronic migraine sufferer here, often 14-18 a month. It’s shit. I literally feel your pain (currently sitting here relishing the triptan side effects)

Finding triggers can be really hard. I’m currently excluding alcohol, chocolate, and caffeine. Which is all great. I know that three triggers of mine are riding bike, alcohol, and sex. What an absolute **** riot

Main bit of advice is don’t give up. I found I really, really needed to push to get anywhere on the NHS – keep a migraine diary of days, severity, and medications taken.

I had a lengthy battle to get anywhere, with GPS not taking it seriously, and at one point even a referral to IAPT for health anxiety as opposed to migraine treatment. There are lots of drugs available through your GP – reactive (triptans) and preventative. I’ve been tried on eta blockers, Candesartan, amitriptyline, and antihistamine (!)
I believe you need to try three preventative medications through your GP before you can get a referral to a Neurologist.
After that a lot more treatments become available.

More than happy to chat about my experience, drop me a message if you want. But I absolutely sympathise, it can be awful, and there’s only so much of being dismissed that you can take.

Oh, and regarding triptans -advice I received from multiple neurologists was to take them as soon as you can. You get to know your warnings, and find the sooner I take them the quicker they work, and the fewer the side effects.
