Yup, I’d say whichever Garmin fits your budget, they all do the sort thing very well.

I’ve got a pair of Burgtec comps with a bent axle and knackered bearings, and a pair of v12a with (surprise!) knackered bushings in the shed if you _really_ want to try them cheap. Burgtec platforms feel small and tippy, like the V12a.

Love my Deftraps. I’m a huge OneUp fanboy, but their pedals feel horrible. Not a fan of the convex shadow.

Also ability to answer calls on my watch (similar to the Apple watch Mrs Surfer has) im not sure if any Garmins have that yet.

My wife has a latest gen Venu and I’m pretty sure it can. Google suggests that’s the case. As am aside, she was sceptical about moving to Garmin as it was a very different style to her old Galaxy watch, but she absolutely loves it. The battery live would sell it even if nothing else did!
Tempted by this offer to upgrade my aging Venu.

I think we’ve discussed the neck pain thing before on here Ernie. There’s a fair bit of evidence suggesting it’s part of the prodrome phase – the initial stage of the attack, but because of this people notice an increase in stiffness and pain prior to the event, and see it as a cause, rather than effect.

see the FDA has now approved Botox as a potentially therapy, which points to some kind of muscular involvement in some people.

As far as I’m aware that not how botox works for migraines. My very vague non scientific understanding is that it works on the nervous system to ‘dampen down’ the pain signals by affecting the neurotransmitters.
The 35 injections i had were all over my head, only a select few in the neck. Mostly into sites along the nerve that runs along my temples, and some in the forehead.
It worked very well for me, and the only reason I moved to another treatment was that there was insufficient staffing to be able to offer it to me on the necessary 3 month cycle.

OP: have you managed to get a neurologist appointment? I know exactly how you feel, I had periods of total despair, but I’m in a much better place now I’ve found something that works for me and I can manage myself. I’m down from 15-20 fill blown migraine days to less than 5 some months.
    Don’t give up!

No experience of Keto but you absolutely have my sympathy. Been battling horrible migraines for years. Thinks that have helped reduce them:
    – elimination of chocolate. Even tiny amounts
    – coming off caffeine. The withdrawal was awful, bit it seems to have had an effect.
    – high dose magnesium and vit B2.
    – Ajovy. I don’t know if you’ve started the process of moving to a neurologist referral but stay with it. It’s a long and arduous journey of knock backs and people not taking you seriously, but actually getting to a headache clinic was brilliant. My nurse is fantastic and really worried with me to find the best solution. If I were on the same position again I’d pay to go private through somewhere like the Migraine Trust.
Feel free to pm me if you want to chat about my expressive if that side of things.
Healing vibes my dude. It can be really, really shit.

I had to return a Bones after trying it on my wife’s previous gen focus, as the straps rubbed on the plastic spoiler, and it only fitted 1 out of the three bikes we had.

Now on roof bars and a mix of Thule 598 and Yakima High Road, both are great, except the Thule can be a pita around water bottle cages. If starting again I’d go with ones that clamp by the wheels. They’re more expensive but just fit everything without hassle.

180/ton is easy if you’re willing to tune.

388bhp/ton with the added bonus that you’ve got back up transport for when the engine blows.

Canals are sealed in waterways, nothing like rivers/streams etc.

I’m afraid that’s not true. A quick look at Stratford upon Avon canal basin, for instance, will debunk it.

I’d be checking cables and shock bushings.

I’ve no qualms about strength, but the issues I see frequently (admittedly mostly from RF) with debonding inserts is enough to make me think SLX/XT are probably far better options for minimal weight/flex advantages (and I almost certainly wouldn’t notice the flex at my weight and power)

Far from being innocent victims in this the people arrested are the main cause of all this.

Whilst I agree they’re not innocent victims, I can’t accept that they are the main cause of this instance of police brutality. That lies with the mindset and lack of control of the officer in question, IMHO.

I bought a second hand Charge Plug and upgraded it as things broke.

It seems like the obvious answer to me would be Pinnacle Arkose to whatever budget you have.

I wouldn’t be spending a grand on a commuter unless I had somewhere super secure to keep it at work. Even then I’m not sure I would. They get all sorts of buggered being used constantly in all conditions with luggage etc.

Yeah, sorry, not what you want to hear, but skins very similar to when I did an intercostal muscle a while ago. Worse than a broken rib, best part of a year before I forgot about it. :(

    Rubbish, sending healing vibes.

NX cassette will do that, I can’t personally comment on the shifting Vs Shimano but many seem fine with it.

Which part of the derailleur is rubbing ? Can help work out where the alignment issue is

12 speed is an unnecessary pile of ass on MTBs and likely worse on a gravel bike. But I get that there’s little choice when buying new.

Apple and blackberry crumble Ice cream. It’s the shiznet. Make a plain vanilla ice cream, some standalone crumble, and a blackberry compote. Add the second two to the first when it’s nearly done and stir through to look a bit ripple-y, then into the freezer . But yes to plain blackberry ice cream as well

Hedgerow jelly with blackberries and whatever else you can find in the hedgerows(Bullaces, greengages, Haws, wild raspberry, copies of Razzle). Boil, strain, make jelly.

Plus liqueur. A sweet one. Ready in time for XMas.

Thanks all! All tips taken on board. Mixed 2 batches in builder’s trugs at the same time, poured a bit in, trowelled to edges, depth marker as shallowest point 3mm above floor. Now hardened a bit, popped a level on, and it’s bob on. Awesome.

Wish I’d remembered to take the depth marker that I’d screwed to the door frame out while it was wet, but it’s just a small hole I can fill easily! :D

It’s as much as 35mm out at one end, and the deep fill stuff only goes down to 3mm, not feather edge.

So I averaged that out at 20mm all over.

    1 bag does 3.1m2 at 5mm., so 10mm on 1.5m2

Hence 2 bags. Have I done that all wrong?!

Ace, that saves me a fair bit of bother then!

Flat is fine, I’m tiling over it, so I’ll just truck on and pour! It’s only 2 bags so I’ll try and drag a mate in. Ta!

Trying to much about work a bargain dropper I got in the CRC fire sale so my son could use it on his bike. Worked out how to shim it right down, had the cartridge out. Realised the pin had dropped out of the shaft between house and garage. It was dark, no chance of finding it now.’fine’ I thought, I’ll just pop a spoke down there to activate so I can test.

1 punctured cartridge, oil all over me and my favourite hoody. And I still haven’t found a cartridge that will fit. Yay me

Yup, loved the change mine made. Had it on a Bird Aeris 120 and now a Ragley Marley. Made the bikes feel more stable, yet more fun. Only downside is the tiny bit of extra time it takes to install properly (so much easier with a proper headset press) and the slightly more wandery front end on steeper climbs. Do it!

I’m not sure I’m finely tuned enough to notice a 1 degree or maybe even 1.5, but 2 was definitely noticeable.

I usually start with a right angled pick. Get it in thete at a clean bit of thread, and work backwards, picking out/pushing back any loose bits of thread. It’s usually pretty successful.

Is the hole blind? Any chance of getting in from the other side?

In the realm of light/cheap/tough, imo it’s hard to beat whichever Shimano fit your budget tbh.

The Hope 30mm BBs are pretty good, so I wouldn’t let that standard put you off.

Cracks do nothing for me so I’d find it hard to look elsewhere, especially when I hear the horror stories of RF carbon failures and Hope fiddlyness. I had some E13 one which were a total PITA, but, E13, so that was predictable.  Plus, coloured cranks are gopping..

I’d try mulleting yours with a cheap rear wheel and fast but tough rear tyre. I’ve got a Marley 29 with a -2 headset and a 150 fork. It’s a good laugh. Was probably more so with a 27.5 rear.

29 doesn’t automatically remove the fun, and 27.5 doesn’t automatically add it IMHO, so I disagree with some of the comments about needing a 27.5.

I’d go through insurance if possible, mostly because most people don’t realise quite how much bodywork costs. Most of the population seem to think about 100 per panel covers everything.

Someone drive into my parked car last year. Wanted to avoid insurance, got a quote – over 3k of damage. I might have been more inclined to do it privately for less if she wasn’t such a massive tool about the whole thing.
