Wow! Militant, I’d be in bed with a 450. How come everyone has a peak flow meter? I have to guess although I’m usually very accurate, feels like I’m having a 640 day.

Anyone ever tried those lung exercise resistance things?

The worst time for theft seems to be at night when the bike is locked outside. Dunno if I would be comfortable leaving mine in the bike park during the day either. I’d do both, take my bike and hire one. There is loads of space to stick a bike in the boiler room.

    Chinese medicine is probably great, the shop we went to not so. Funnily enough we’ve never found another reason to go back;
    My son had infantile eczema and was prescribed a creme with steroids in it by the dermatologist. My wife went to the Chinese herbal/ doctor shop to see if they had any non-steroid treatment. She came home with some creme and herbs (I put the herbs that we were meant to bathe him in in a cupboard and we didn’t use them);

The tube of creme only had instructions in Chinese and after lots and lots of searching I found that it contained steroids in a larger dose than you are supposed to buy over the counter in the UK,

A few weeks later I went to look at the herbs, opened the bag and found them crawling in bugs. Maybe they were tested and the bug eggs were an essential ingredient.

Tyres are the most important safety component on the car. I replaced 4 brand new triangle tyres on my car when I bought it, its a different car now, it goes round corners and stops. If I was strapped I’d rather put good part worns on rather the cheap ones.

I’m lucky to live next to a very good and cheap tyre place but I still check I’m getting a good deal and camskill.co.UK are good (even with delivery and paying someone to fit them). I’ve found blackcircles to be 10-20% more expensive but it depends on the tyre I think.
Ps- you can’t compare price without size. I was buying bridgestone potenzas and eagle F1s for 55 quid fitted now the F1a’s are 99 quid (Kwickfit charge 165 for the same tyre). Also some of the sportier ones wear quicker so they may not be 125 quid but you need twice as many.

looks like a good door. Make sure its properly attached to the building and put a bump and pick proof lock on it.
Tea leaves are going to look for the weakest point, that door will make them check out the roof, maybe the wall but you have to stop somewhere.

Not done it with a painted one just a rusty one. Wire brush by hand worked for us. When I tried a drill with a wire brush I polished it which looks crap when you black lead it. Luckily I only did a small spot with the drill.

Fogtech is very good, bikers use it. If you have long eyelashes that rub on the inside of your lens then you will rub it off.
I use it nearly all the time when in the woods, especially now the weather has changed.

The brain never locks the shock, it reduces the travel (to very little) the firm to soft setting will set how much travel you get when the brain kicks in. It kicks in when you are peddling, as soon as you coast or take a big hit it will release. The firm setting gives the min travel when peddling, when you have lots of air in the shock this wont be much.
It’s the air pressure in the shock that has the biggest effect on the ride.
With the recommended pressure in mine the firm setting gives me hardly any travel and the soft about 20%, while peddaling of course.

[list]Do you think the new girl has a clause in her contract that says she can’t look better than Suzi? She always seems to be dressed down when they are in the same shot.

try amazon and 7dayshop, they are my first two ports of call then do a Google product search. Make sure you get the fastest speed for the device.
Not much kit that will take a 32GB card, windows will probably need a driver update to read it too.

Have you changed anything on the front end? Stem, stem height, fork compression? Changing that always has a huge impact on me especially when on your regular trails, last time I dropped the stem I was riding like clown.

If you are coming off because you are clipping something on one side of your body and its always the same side. Go see the doctor. Sorry to be worrisome.

Get some lever service spares and read thisJuicy Service Manual

I’ve had a few sticky calipers but its never affected the lever. Its easy to check the calipers though. If you don’t know how – Get the rear wheel off the ground (upside down or stand). Spin the wheel and lightly squeeze the brake lever. You should be able to see if one piston doesn’t return or is slow in returning.
If a piston is sticky then take the wheel and pads off, its easier to take the caliper off the bike too. Just squeeze the lever then push the piston back into the caliper using a spanner or something that won’t mark them (especially the sides). Do this a few times and it has always fixed it for me. I once had to use a bit of brake fluid to lube the piston.

Contaminated, seals gone, could be lots of things. Download the service manual and go through it. Mind Fisher have been very slow getting juicy spares out lately if your LBS doesn’t have the service kit.

    Good luck.

Some good paygo androids around. Pulse is a good phone but will be locked to T-mobile.

HTC Tattoo is good, probably cheap second hand and was on many networks.

TYTN II is good but OS is very old by today standards.

Wouldn't like someone with one of those riding behind me! It'd be like riding towards a brocken spectre.

I think there was a big thread discussing behavior of both driver and rider on here.

Hope it hits the news and the papers.

If I had a cam on and went to the police every time someone didn't see me when turning right at a certain mini roundabout I'd never be out of court. Happens more than 1:3.
Been a while since anyone chucked something out of the window at me and when I did go to the police they couldn't be bothered, didn't think that hurling a full bottle of coke in my wheels was a problem.

Heard some 'expert' on the radio saying UK has one of the lowest number of personal accident claims in the world.

    Independent witnesses are good.

But sod all that for now, go get checked out!

I've got a brand new hope bulb mounted on a second hand mavic 317 rim with new DB spokes and brass nipples. I built it up as a spare for the three peaks ride we did for charity last year, everyone had 20mm front.

hub is setup for 20mm a kit can be bought to convert it to QR. I'd want 40 quid plus postage.

If you're not up for this I would recommend hopes or shimano both are easy to service. Also with 20mm make sure you grease the axle as when the bearings start to go they can rust onto the axle and its not easy getting it out.

My kcnc ones have lasted 18 months and show little sign of wear. That's three times longer than the stock tension pulley lasts (bottom wheel) in my book that's cheap. No noticeable increasing chain wear either.

If they ever wear out I'd be interested in anything cheaper?

Agree with Zokes. The people who get upset when asked "why do you climb a mountain just to walk back down?" Don't understand why we want to do it.

Stick to the agreed times so our kids can ride it too! And you're more likely to have a clear run.

My mate got the puncture just before the railway arch. At that point the brakes did pong a bit and probably benefited from the stop.
    9min record hmmmmmm….should I have another go?

    Don't tell the wife!

Edit: was riding a 04 Enduro, usual 5 inch rear travel when I did it the first time. Tyre choice is key as you don't want them sliding under braking. Unfortunately I used conti gravities which they have discontinued.

    Agree with everything buzz says.

What have other people experienced? After doing Ben Nevis during the day I wouldn't recommend doing any popular mountain when walkers are out. They see you coming and don't move, I think its the shock of seeing someone on a bike and on the way up you get stupid questions and comments off everyone.
Normally try and get to the top for first light or in summer leave around 5.

Did the route along the railway line from Llanberis last year. Quiet a bit of pushing on the second half. Took 17 mins to get down, including sorting a puncture.
Don't underestimate the weather difference on the top.
I remember one section of steps started to be annoying after a few hundred yards of it.

anyone got a kids suspension fork that has the right spring? my eldest 20" hotrock fork is harder to compress than my medium Pike. Is this typical for a kids bike suspension? its not worth him having it.

I've got a muvi which is the branded version of that. Very good, you need to put a class 4 or 6 SD card in otherwise you get jerky video.
Works well in the cold too.

_tom_ you can get the avid lever service kit, for about 12 quid I think. Sorts out the lever wobble but its a full strip down.

When you say the brain died do you mean it dumped oil (prob all over your rotor)?
What's the service interval? My 2004 fox with brain has a 4hr wet weather service interval so that warranty was shot in the first month.

What kind of whisky do you like at the mo?

If you can get to the Glenkinchie distillery just south of Edinburgh, after the tour they let you prop the bar up and try different whiskys. The staff are excellent, really know their whisky. It's great, been twice and had to be dragged out by the wife at closing time twice. I always leave with a few bottles of homework!
I've been to a lot of distleries and this is the only one I've found that does this.

Limo is a good seat just try and get it as far forward as you can without putting your backside in the nippers face.
The sides totally project the kid and having it fixed to the bike rather than bouncing up and down is a must when they get heavier. Easy to get on and off.
