Correct DD. I look at my past and hope he does not do the same, but he enjoys what I enjoyed. I think he may need a bit of steerage later on so as not to sell himself short.

His Opinel is a No5 so quite small and doesn’t lock but it fits in his hand easy and he knows which way to cut so it doesn’t fold. Christmas may be the time for a slightly larger knife that locks. Maybe replace my Opinel that has disapeared over the years aswell.

I think reading back junkyard was talking 75 amps at 12 volts. Thats about right for 1000watt 240 v motor.

Wire in a second battery possibly about 110 amp with split charge connect up a 1000w inverter and just use it while the engine is running. Im guessing the lynercher once spinning over will use a lot less than 1000w. If needed use a seperate smart charger while at home to make sure the second battery is fully charged for the next days work.

Quite a few years ago the car group Dixons were launching themselves into the sale of motorbikes unfortunately they had all the stationary ready when someone pointed out “Dixon Bikes” was possibly not the best brand name they could have chosen.

Try not to be wearing road shoes when you get into an altercation as they can be quite slippy and you may like a bit silly when you slip whilst trying to throw a punch.

75 amps seriously the lynercher is 9000 watts The largest on board power system I have fitted is 5000 watts and even then we had a 110 amp 24 volt un regulated alternator with a pully ratio of 4:1 and still had to increase tickover speed. I dont know of any system capable over powering that amount of power. If you are serious about it try Powerall in York Mitch should be able to point you in the right direction.

Bloody hell just read in yesterdays telegraph and argus a guy I pass coming to and from work on the towpath has just been been found guilty of strangling a girl walking her dog. For at least the past 6 years I have said hi, let him know the time asked if he is ok. I just thought he was homeless/tramp and possibly a bit slow as he used to be just stood staring at the water most of the time, unkempt and sometimes asleep at the side of the tow path on a summers morning.

Currently doing 20 a day 5 days a week but I can reduce it if I feel a bit weary by the end of the week. But need to motivate myself to do more night rides and weekends.

I find on my commute if I see other cyclists I usually say hi, wave/nod or try to engage in conversation but nine times out of ten they ignore me or start to ride faster. Im not mad i’ve got a piece of paper says so. I think nowadays people see trying to strike up a conversation with a stranger odd.

In 1987 was fortunate to be selected to go to the Hymalayas with Yorkshire Schools Exploring Society. Unfortunately I was selected to be part of the trekking group not the mountain bike group. Both parties started in Phalgam and ended in Srinagar. I did ride one of the bikes in Phalgam (the pedal fell off) and then again our paths crossed not far away from Amarnath Cave on a glacier we were walking up they were coming down and boasting how they hadn’t had to turn a pedal all day. The expedition was fantastic but I still wish I had been on the mountain bike group

Which way does it squeek? If on the up stroke try putting a slight twist on the arm so the edge of the wiper is trailing when going up then when it returns it should flip over to do the same on the down stroke. You need to try to make sure the leading edge of the blade is not being pushed but pulled across the screen. Used to have to do this on new cars before they went to the customers.

Surely not all trades people know everything about their trade? They weren’t born knowing all aspects, and when new products arrive they must surely need to sometimes ask how it works what goes with what ect. I work in a job that requires me to use plumbing, electrical, heating, cooling and mechanical skills and because of customer requirements or requests this leads me to have to ask the relevant trade counters for their assistance in what products are best suited for the application. So far I have not had a problem when asking advice and long may it continue, i’m just trying to do a job. As for trade prices, if you are not the end user of the product then you ought to be able to get a discounted price.

read Paul Kimmages’book on holiday and from his perspective all be it from a while ago as a cyclist, but as a journalist he just wants to look them in the eye at the finish. He feels there is still a problem to resolve.

The picture clearly shows a man standing sideways on behind the children, you are looking at his left side and he has his left arm up with his hand behind his head. If you look at the bottom of the stripped material you can clearly make out the bottom of his untucked shirt.

Most of the gases these days arent ozone depleting CHB I remember freon and guys messing with it while brazing for a laugh 8O I have also seen engineers cracking bottles of refrigerant off and directing it on to cans of coke to chill them down before drinking in summer. The water method seems to favourite I think you may need to wrap the coil quite close and round the sides as well to make it as efficient as possible and a small amount of air circulation wouldn’t do any harm.

Smudger your right about the pressures when running, but even when static the pressure in the system evens out about 5 bar assuming R134a refrigerant A lot higher if 404 but that would be over kill. I trialed a Penguin refrigeration unit that would have done the job a couple of years ago. Basicaly it was a 12 volt scroll compressor and small condensing set with fan mounted on a plate then piped to what can only be described as a thin radiator to which we blew a fan across to distribute the cooling. We found it very efficient and low consumption.

I never said you couldn’t use it, yes most cases where the injury was to the person carrying out a criminal act have failed to secure compensation but an innocent person may be a different matter. I was making a point about using it responsibly.

On a similar note a garage owner friend of mine had to pay compensation when a member of the public injured themselves tripping over a low slung chain he used to put up across the garage forecourt to stop people using it as a carpark on a night.

Project Yes im agreeing with you just making the point about using it responsibly TJ show me wall erected by a building company with glass on it within the last 10 years? Times change it was ok to send boys up chimneys once.

Project/TJ I think you can use razor/barbed wire but you must display warning notices and possibly there us a minimum height at which it can be used, the same applies for other forms of sharp deterents. I personally would shy away from glass as said above some poor person could do themselves serious harm when only loking for a ball cat or dog.

Anyone using talktalk and able to see the new bikemagic forum pages. Still stuck in a time warp here. I can google and find the “riding” heading under the main link but when I click on it it just says oops the link doesnt seem to be working if I click on the main link it just puts me back to the old page. At this rate I might have to join FB just to see where they are riding from.

I can’t remember it, possibly because I used to spend my dinner money on fags and dinner time smoking them. This is just another reason not to smoke, you miss out on school puddings.

They work better than internal ones I don’t think you can avoid condensation completely unless you leave a window or 2 open. we have some from silver screens in Cleckheaton
