In windy weather we get a vibration noise that comes from the plastic guttering. The wind must channel down the guettering dependant on direction and it makes a flutter/ vibration noise.

Would it be better to develop lights that are capable of picking up all approaching road users and if no other traffic around defaulted to green? Or even more part time signals for when it is busy?

Elf you stopped because that is the rule and you know right from wrong. Did it upset your journey? The only effect this time was the one it had on you. Well done.

8 years you say thats not retro the 2 in the pic are retro the pine mountain is in use at the moment and the owned since new 1988 Saracen tufftrax (recommended to me by Brant Richards) just needs a new crank and was in use uptill last year.

TJ not a problem, just because it is easier doesn’t justify it neither does better, being round traffic comes with the territory. Safer, I can see your reasoning but without actually riding the junction a few times I cannot honestly comment whether it is or not. Some peoples actions impact on cyclists as a whole just like responsible MTBers get upset when likened to the less responsible ones.

I have looked at your link and I can see what you are saying. Could it be that you feel a little anxious/nervous when trying to manouvre in and around traffic and as so compensate by jumping the lights? Looking at the junction I would take up a slightly wider than normal road position when setting off or possibly signal to indcate moving over this would give a clear indication to other road users of your intentions. As for the IR signals have you tried speaking to the highways department or is there the oportunity to walk round the junction?

In my opinion jumping a red light makes other road users think cyclists are unpredicable. This in turn puts cyclists in a bad light, and the other road users try to overtake and get out of the way as quickly as possible because they feel safer not driving next to an unpredictable cyclist. If we could try to avoid flaunting the law instead of thinking it doesnt matter for ME im sure this would help. People on hear don’t like it when cars enter or park in a cycle lane, maybe the driver is taking the same view as the red light jumpers “I deemed it safe to be there”

The windings are usually quite hefty, prosibly faulty regulator.not caused by flat battery as not enough voltage wont excite it and regulator should control things. The other possibility is a breakdown of the insulation and short circuit between windings you talked about driving through a puddle water electrics dont mix esp with pos poor insulation.

I thought it also meant that if you manufacture a product consistantly it could have a CE mark whether that product be consistantly crap or not. Not a Quality mark was my understanding

Rib (scopema) do some single folding seats that utilise the driver and pasenger seat but they don’t look very comfy as they have lots of seams and knee bolsters to contend with.

I like the “it’s an animal not a person line”. As if it isn’t human it doesn’t matter. Think of the emotions that would run through you if I was to nick your bike. It’s just an object.

My daughter (13) came back from seeing Rihanna on sunday with an ear trauna because it was too loud for her. She has sensitive hearing even in the car she complains if the stereo is too loud and she “can’t have my ipod as loud as my friends” A lesson learnt for next time may be some ear plugs for her.

oliver, the guy who found our cat did right, I was stating what I would do if I found an animal without a collar.

Your comment of ” you should always try” Do you have the skills to identify if the animal has or has not a chance of survival? I know in some cases it would be obvious. If you cannot dispatch the animal quickly and humanely don’t try you may prolong or even make the situation worse by increasing the suffering.

If you can’t, you can’t but you should always try. I’ll remember that if I ever meet you.

Didn’t realise so many vets frequented this site? Everyone’s an expert on how terminal the animals injury is.

We lost one of our cats a year ago, a guy round the corner found him in the gutter dead and couldn’t leave him so took him home and wrapped him up and rang us as he had a collar on. If I had been in the situation I would take it to the vets and see if it had a chip so the owners could be contacted.

If ever he gets into trouble and has to be told off even for minor things he feels his world has caved in and is very upset with himself. So I’m confident he won’t be daft with it and hasn’t. It sits on a shelf in his bedroom and he always asks us before he shows it to a friend or wants to use it. I guess the title could have said ” is it still ok?”
