I agree not worthy of national news. No you don’t have to feel compassion and sympathy for everyone it’s just a feeling you might recognise in yourself and others don’t in theirselves.

My father died 12 months ago and today would have been his 64 birthday. Everyone deals with grief in different ways. My mum still gets hospital appointments for my dad and yes it both upsets and anoys her and in turn myself too. When someone dies there is a system of sorts in place to stop mail and other types of correspondence unfortunately it’s not always 100% effective. Some people on here seem to lack stmpathy and compassion possibly because they have not felt the loss of a loved one.

You need to access the cartridge and disable the return spring then as you say fit standard lockout lever and I think a different plastic washer. Thats what tft told me when I enquired. dont let people tell you you need a new cartridge. Most of the info to do it is on the sram site.

Remember white dog turds as a kid? That was because they used chalk to bulk out the dog food. Now with some clever marketing we could get the super vain people to eat chalk telling them it will keep their bullet holes from discolouring so quickly in the future and the other benefit it is calorie free.

We have mice in the loft at the moment so have bought a trap. First night the mouse took the bait but did not spring the trap. Last night at 6pm reset the trap with chocolate spread again but put some on the little trigger plate this time. Returned home after going to (plug) trouties to have my new light wired up 1000 lumens in a housing no bigger than a deck of cards (plug) at 10.30pm checked trap first kill. Reset and will check tonite. chocolate spread is the way to go.

Ton please insist on an angiogram for your mum not just a treadmill test. My Dad died 12 months ago and I believe if they had done this after his first attack the second would not have happened. Get well soon.

I have been up to point Lenana on mount kenya (4985m)and 4500m in the himalayas so can confidently say good effort to all of them well done. But would agree about temp and wind speed. You also don’t feel great every day just because you are around fantastic scenery so moaning a bit comes with the territory.

Going back to the cruxifiction thing my brother and a couple of mates draped themselves over the crosses erected in the local church grounds one easter time while returning home from the pub only to be spotted by the rozzers and duly told off.

I joined the RN straight from school cos I didn’t know what I wanted to do and needed some discipline before things went really pear shaped. 6 months later I knew what I didn’t want to do. Something with slightly less discipline.

The usual hare and tortoise speed or stamina replys. There is a saying that goes something like. A young bull says to the old bull lets run down the field and shag one of the cows. The old bull replies lets walk down and shag the lot!! For me slow and steady is alot more satisfying.

My brother used to have a dado rail in his kitchen that was ideal for storing his tandem. Sit your bike wheels on the top edge of the dado rail and secure the top tube by means of a hook in the wall and a loop of para cord or the likes from the hook round the top tube and back on to the hook. Obviously the bike is not parallel to the wall just slightly leaning out at the top.

I used to race yachts from Scarborough many years ago only as crew mind and often wondered how people afforded their hobby. Then it ocured to me they have an annual north sea race to the hook of holland every year. I never took part in it but my dad used to say that they never got approached by customs, “just radio the coatguard before you get to the harbour” hmmm one wonders.

1986 rode my brothers muddy fox courier a few times then in 1987 rode a cannondale that was being used as part of a Yorkshire schools exploring society expedition to the himalayas I was trekking for the month not riding unfortunately. Bought a Saracen Tufftrax later that year. As a child I rode in the woods quite a lot on a converted road bike with cow horns then had a bmx. Once rode into the canal trying to jump over the mooring rings on the towpath on my converted road bike, the 3 speed sturmey archer gears never did work the same again. Happy days.

Call in to a tyre centre and ask if you can borrow their valve removal tool. Tighten the valve in the centre and see if it cures it. You can buy a tool from a car spares place if they wont lend you one.

I was into bmx in 1986 but my brother went to school with Brant and he had just got one of these funny mountain bike things my brother had a go on it and bought a muddy fox courier. Then later in 1987 I went to the Himalayas with the Yorkshire Schools Exploring Society and there were 3 different groups on the expedition, walking, mountaineering, and mountain biking. I didn’t get selected for the biking but before we split up to do our seperate activities I borrowed one of the guys bikes for a couple of hours and was hooked. During the ride the crank fell off but thats another story to go with how they kept the bikes running for 4 weeks.Never looked back since. I think the report of the expedition is held at Leeds library. Ton I remember the crane brothers doing there expeditions and was inspired by them also.

Have just gone back to no guards to see if getting a wet arse on my commute is really that bad. I can cope getting wet in the summer but at this time of year it can become a bit of a drag, No guards makes it easier to clean the bike.
