Its a Jones steel frame and Ti truss. It’s not the plus frame. 3″ maxis on the front and a 2.35 Ikon out back.

The Yorkshire Dales 300 is now full. Thank you so much to those brave 60. To those who were pondering, I’m afraid you’re too late. Can’t wait to see 60 guys and gals kitted out and ready for a great weekend riding their bikes. It’s going to be brill. I hope you all got your email. Breakfast will be served before the ride and some warm grub for when you return. See you all in June.

At some point in the near future I will be riding the route (when I get a bike sorted). There will be regular updates and info emailed to you all. I also plan to ride it with you all.

This has got me thinking. I may just arrange another shorter one for the Autumn time. Lets call it The Yorkshire Dales 200 (km)

Tent for me. Have cut the tooth brush in half and gram counting 🙂 Last test ride this weekend to fine tune the packing and tinker with the bike.

Lets start putting the 50ps in the weather meter.

Great course on Sunday. Up a hill, across a bit then down. Loved it. Pity about numbers but there were a few events that clashed and the crap weather forecasters predicted a wash out. Thank you to all who helped but on a great series and thank you to the generous sponsors (just love my new Hope R1 lights). Still can not get used to their horrible up hill start line. My chest is heaving by the time I reach the top :)wicked, cruel start line 🙂

I didn’t park. I took the train from Skipton to Bangor and cycled the 12 miles to Llanberis. The weather was brilliant. Still warm on the summit and a gentle breeze. Once I had lightened the back pack and eaten it’s contents I put my bed roll in the sack so not to bounce around on the descent.
I so wanted to stop and admire the 6am views but also wanted to ride none stop. Can’t complain as what a wonderful conundrum to deal with 🙂

It became an overwhelming stunt. “oh, I’ve got this far. Bloody hell I’ve made it half way. I’m still on the tree. Almost at the end 🙂 🙂 Not far, concentra………..:( ouch”.

Slight up hill ending to the tree and the back tire slipped out under load.
    Always reccy the landing/crash zone.
The stump meant a difficult/impossible ending so my intention was to reach the end and undertake a dramatic gymnastic dismount :)in my dreams.

The poor bike suffered a bent L/H crank arm 🙁 bit of a surprise because the only thing it hit was my now swollen bleeding shin and the back of my head when she fell on me 🙂

    A right royal giggle though.

Very close to an eye watering clash but got away with it. Bent crank arm didn’t though.

Good luck Whatnobeer, see you there. Also doing solo. I would try a 12hr ride ASAP.
I did my first solo last year and it was interesting to see what happened. I made sure I fueled myself every lap with bars and gels and flap jacks plus lots of carbo drink (makes for a dodgy tummy for a few days)It worked for me.
Stretched as much as I could. Had done some 12hrs before so I knew what my legs would do but after 12 plus hours legs grew tired but I found a gear and a pace that I felt I could just turn & turn. Night time was mentally draining as you end up focusing on the beam 6ft infront of you. My neck and shoulders suffered due to hours in the riding position.
Its a 24hr race so expect to suffer but Its as hard as you want it to be. Don’t clock watch just enjoy the trails. Organize yourself before the event, have prepared all your food and drink. Know where you packed everything and make a check list so you can tick everything off and not forget something.
Make sure your equipment is in good condition, fresh brake pads etc.

enjoy it buddy 🙂 and good luck.

Back in May I completed the Cairngorm Loop ITT. a 196 mile self supported ride around the beautiful Cairngorm Mountains. After 34 beautiful & brutal miles I finished what has to be my most memorable ride to date 🙂 I wrote a blog artical after the event. I hope you like the read.

Top marks DVATC 1 I liked the VETs corner up at the start and the teasing about warm blankets and hot chocolate aimed at the older vet’s.

Jimthelad, thats what I said after my first run but I took a look before the second, it seemed to be off the worn line through the trees so I asked Chipps who said it was within the tape so ok, spread the word to the Vets waiting at the start and result. 7 seconds faster 🙂

Cheers Jedi. All in the flow 🙂

Neil, I pleaced 6th on the DH run and 2nd Vet overall. Those pesky sponsored posh riders beat me 🙁 🙂 but I won a pair of Shimano shoes and as I broke mine on the 2nd DH run Im very happy. Cheers Shimano.
