I think Sir HC make a good point. Your are comparing a Trail bike to an Enduro bike. The Fuel EX sits closer to the StumpJumper in terms of travel and intent, while the Slash is closer to the Enduro in terms of designed application. Not that this helps you much. 😆

@oldtalent, it is a shame when grass roots events get all a bit to ‘pro’. It’s the reason why I have stopped racing the XC series down here, as the level is to high (I’m not bitter, just to lazy to train properly). It’s the social side to Enduro that has peaked my interest, along with getting to ride bike ‘like I stole it’. 🙂

Oh that’s good to know. What’s the best way to know when entries open? Facebook I guess?

    Cheers Kimbers.

I have only ever done Mini Enduro round at Haldon and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The Southern Champs looks like a shout, as the distance to Ard Rock out me off doing a bigger event.

I have recently had the word “verbge” used to describe a block of text. Oh did the tapioca rise in my gullet.

Hey Mrs Toast don’t panic! The 24/12 course is normally pretty easy with b lines or even c lines. Everyone will be super friendly and no unicyclist to mock you! And as for mud, it should not be to bad. All depends on tomorrow!

I can see you point about the drive. At the mo yr.no are saying about 10mm of rain tomorrow with some more late on Saturday. A light breeze and 18 degree should stave of any major saturation. I guess your soloing mjsmke?

Its been heavy showers, but nothing really sustained with really sunny weather between so in Exeter it’s been fairing okay. Still muddy in places but nothing awful.

If I didn’t ride in this sort of weather I’d never ride. It’s not Arizona.

Yep that is pretty much my view. Plus the Met Office always over egg the forecast these day. TBH I did a 2 laps of Cardinham Woods the other day is persistent drizzle and never bothered with a waterproof as it was to warm! Ah well mjsmke its your call, just more free beer for us. 🙂

Just seen the forecast…. very wet.

Pictures on Facebook say it’s dry but if it rains like forecast from now until Sunday it could be quite muddy.

Now lets all calm down and not go all Daily Express on this.

So looking at our Norwegian friends at yr.no they are forecasting 5mm of rain over a period of 6 hours at time of writing (Plymouth Long Range). In comparison based on the figures at the brilliantly nerdy Bear By the Sea on that faithful night in 2012 a total of 31mm of rain fell on to already pretty damp ground. So that’s approx an 84% increase.

So in summary.Yes you might get a little damp Friday and the course might be a bit tricky to start, but it will be nothing compared to that year. So lets put on our big boy trousers (or Sumo suits) and crack on!

I will be there again, riding in the same team as Amedias and trying not to moan to much. As for the course I am a fan of a shorter lap, but my understand is that they are extending it, due to them hosting the Solo Champs this year and needing to give them a decent lap. Bring on the heckling!

I would, just take it gentle and stretch well afterwards and you will all reet. 🙂

Your right in wanting to tell someone.

My first port of call would be Crimestoppers, that way the issue out of your hands and hopefully the Police will follow it up, if not direct to the Police. Does he/she drive for a living?

I agree. I just don’t want to become a “full kit <insert choice of word>”!

I would suggest Don Pasquale as a great independent Italian in the city centre. Either as a restaurant upstairs or a less formal Pizzeria downstairs.

Well it was my first proper xc race of the year today at the first round of the Southwest XC series at Woodbury Common. Was running first in the fun cat racing my mates and chasing the wheels of the faster guys but sadly a broken chain ended my race. The course was cracking with loads of technical singletrack and gravel climbs. In all a great day out!

I think I will try and get up to one of the Welsh Mix Up Enduro’s in October as a taster and see how it goes!

Just had a look at the Welsh Gravity Enduro series and one’s in October are all trail centres. Do you use additional trails or it is just a mix of the usual sections? I’m getting very curious now. 🙂

    That’s for this guys!

I have to admit that it’s the social side that appeals. You can’t really have a chat to another race when your both blowing out your a**!

Where are we with regards full face helmets?

Northwind: While I am happy on steep loose stuff and smaller drops I have not been one for major stuff. Do you think its worth getting some coaching for the bigger stuff like drops etc? Do the courses even have things like double in them?

Thanks guys. I think being an also ran in XC is a bit more demoralising specially if you get lapped/pulled. I have a older Camber 29er that will do for min so does anyone have any race recommendations that I have a go at that is not to far from Devon?

Everyone should be dancing the Enduro

Someone needs to choreograph this and create a looping GIF!

Wheely I was there to! I was racing hard (or is that hardly racing) and managed three laps before deciding to call it a day! Had 3 or 4 offs all on the final decent. Great fun mind. 🙂

Hey, Achillies take a very long time to heal fully (just ask anyone who has snapped it!) so I would be looking to work with a Physio to work out the best way forward as she now needs to work on the Rehab phase as the tendon has healed. The likely main issue is that it will have shorted during healing so will be stretched out as part of rehab work. While it must be frustrating (everyone hates waiting!) she needs to get the rehab right otherwise she could end up with a permanent issue which won’t be fun!

    Hope this helps!

I think WTB is Hotlines so CRC are generally the cheapest. That said my LBS have been able to price match both time. 😀

I have been using WTB ST i25’s for a while on the 29er HT and am really happy with them to point where I am using them on a 29er Full Sus build. Not as light as a Stans, but cheaper at £33 each and pretty bomb proof!

I can see if you’re an occasional rider who suddenly gets a lot fitter through running that it will probably benefit.

I would agree. On a side note I found not just the physical benefits but the mental ones. While training for a half marathon I found my “discomfort threshold” increased so I could push a bit harder for longer and just deal with the discomfort of hard breathing etc.

Just spoken to the support team and no issues deetected or reported. As above really, AV and malwarebytes and both a good next steps.

If want an OS to just work then use Debian which is the basis of Ubuntu. The difference is that Debian is built around stability rather than shiny stuff like Ubuntu.

    Stupid.is
    Free Member

As a shop using Redhat this is the setup. Fedora is the “upstream” project so contains all the bleeding edge stuff etc. At intervals RedHat pick a version i.e Fedora 20 and will use that to create Redhat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). To create it they take the fedora packages and further test them back porting fixes as they go. Once it is hardened for production use they release it. This will mean that RHEL will be “older” than the latest Fedora as stability is key rather than new stuff. Makes sense?

Now as RHEL is still open source you can download the source files etc. So where does Centos fit? The Centos Team take the RHEL source files and rebuild them but strip out the branding and replace it with the Centos branding. This gives you access to stable version of RHEL but without the cost for support.

    So if brief:

    Fedora -> RHEL -> Centos
