Well while we are talking injuries this morning I managed a stupid one. I slipped and fell in the shower catching my side on the side of the bath. Oh does it hurt, prob cracked a few ribs. The annoying part is that I have been on call last week so looking forward to running outside! Boo indeed.

Well I have been running on for about 3 years now and am a Leader in Running Fitness and help out at a local club in Exeter. This year I’m doing the Grizzly (hilly 18 miler off road) in March so that’s my focus at the moment! Had a naff year last year with Plantar fascitias (sp?) which is now sorted.

First off I would get him seen by a Doctor as any concussion can be serious and the good news is the NHS take the same view. Given he has been sick some time after he might have taken more of an impact than you think.

As for when to get back. I would say three weeks is about right. I went over the bars a month or so back taking a good blow to the head. 3 weeks seems like about the time it took be to being back feeling 100% right. As you say diving when done right is safe, but if he is not functioning at 100% then the risk of a repeated head injury goes up as he is more likely to make a mistake.

W2 has the break at which ever tea shop you didn’t start at while Skyline it was mangled sandwich on a section of fireroad in the wind/rain/snow/sun (delete as appropriate). Not quite as fun eh?

I was there with Weekesy as I would say the opposite. Yes it was quite, but they have done work to The Wall and added new trails etc so I think the investment is there. The nearer trails still have plenty of climbing in them, but without the remoteness. Having ridden Skyline while it was a bit of an adventure there was a lot of fire road and have not ridden it since as the reward didn’t warrent the effort. Maybe with tastes changing they have decided to focus funding elsewhere (Blade, Wall/W2 etc) if evidence shows that Skyline is not getting the use?

I found when commuting in the summer the best solution was at the end of the shower to whack the temp down to freezing for a few mins. That helped to drop my core temp enough to stop the post shower sweats.

I swapped from an old 29er Camber to a 650B Stumpy and was very surprised on how nice it felt over different conditions etc. I put it down to the collective improvements in Suspension tech, materials, geo (including wheel size) and new bike syndrome!

So I’, 6ft 2 13-14st (never really weight self) and 33. My resting is 45 ish while during a half marathon I can average 185 for 1:45ish with peaks to 200. When I asked the Dr (I was in for something else) he flatly replied to worry if it suddenly changes otherwise dont. 😯

I do enjoy my Garmin watch reporting “no zone” during interval sessions! 😆

I did prefer Whites when there was a bit more tree cover. It gave you a nice excuse for a break when the trees did split to enjoy the view. 🙂
