You need a top guide unit as the chain tends to lift and bounce when you go over rough stuff when running 1 x 9s. Pauls unit is small and easy to fit, works well. MRP is ok but less easy to fit and I had to pack the chainring off the spider to get a perfect chain line. All this info is IMHO as I have used both items.

They are brilliant but you will get some stick as folks call them man bags.Being a cyclist you can use timbuk2,patagonia or similar but beware I now have 3 for some gay reason ? matching shoes next ? Oh dear me…..

I sat on a 29er just the once ? and the alltitude made my nose bleed. They do seem to roll over stuff well but I aint tall enough to run one.

Fast ? To ride as quickly as possible (for 60 seconds)whilst wearing a helmet,a large back pack,the current must have kit and mounted upon a £4,500 full sus steed.Directly from the trail centre car park to the trail head shop to purchase more shite.

Fast ? All single speed riders YAHOOOOO !!

SSUK at Dalby ended up about £14,000 as everything had to be brought into a green feild site. Pam (Mrs where the @uck is Gil) was brillant with the finances but it looked like very stressing hard work. It does all come together but you NEED the correct group of DOERS and not gona doers…

Funny that we have just finished the under 5ft 4″ SSUK champs here in Dalby. We started at 11.00 this morning but we failed to allow for the long undergrowth and all the riders got lost until the last bloke came in shouting “wer the @uck are-we”. A new niche tribe of SS riders perhaps. The party bit sounds like a normal SS piss up tollah but as for the just enter another event part 8)

When I said team I should have said 5 of us (was 6 but 1 cracked under pressure). The helpers on the day are the easy part and all nice people.
As matt said its not that difficult and you get a warm felling when you pull it all off 8O One tip “dont have it on F.E land” they are a pain in the arse with HSE paperwork to the extreme…….

Xckeith Your back on my xmas card list muca 8). My brain fell out last week as I turned up to ride whilst my kit bag stayed at home(25 miles round trip back to get it)… epic brain failure.

It only worked last time because we had a brilliant TEAM of “doers” who all got stuck in as I’m sure matt will know. That team of people have now gone on to other things and whilst I am tempted,I honestly dont think the other team members would be keen. Done their bit for SS and all that sort of stuff….. there must be other willing parties and venues ?
