Dalby at 14.00hrs today…… The trails are actually taped off with hazard tape by F.E so they are officially still closed. The snow is still today 12” to 18” on the trails and 90% of the trails I checked are not rideable due to heavy snow and trees down all over the place due to snow weight on branches.
It is only my personal opinion but I wouldn’t drive to Dalby to push my bike around, which is what you will be doing 90% of the time.

Yep it is shut at the moment as trails are un-rideable due to heavy snow, ice and trees down. I’m going up there on foot later today and I will have a good look around and then post the “on the ground conditions on here”

You get one chance to make a first impression (on behalf of all us mtbers) so make it a good one and just be as polite as possible and then ride on. Conflict solves nothing 8)

On group rides I always take pictures, weekends away and full day rides as the people I ride with get even more excited about riding again if you show or e:mail them images. Digital images cost nothing so you can take loads and just show folks the one were they look good

DIY here…I ride stuff hard and I trust what I ride because I learn’t to build, mend and service it. Wheels are a joy to build and better than watching mind numbing TV with Mrs Stumpy.

Spot on Jedi and as Lionheart no 7: Shit happens… been riding years since way back when and I still LOVE doing it. Had a lack of awareness moment at Dalbeatie 2 weeks back and fubard myself big time (first proper injury needing A & E).

As soon as I am mended I will be back out “playing like a kid” YAHOO.

I always check people are ok if I see them on a trail tinkering with their bikes/or perhaps lost, but then I waff to most people I see anyway as Mtber’s are all one big happy family

Get a good light and warm kit. Once your out on your bike its like riding in you own little sunny (well white light) bubble and all the monsters in the forest are unable to catch you, but don’t look back.

I don’t know Ade but his responses have been very fair, considered and thoughtful and he sounds like a good guy. I do know Sheldon & the other K.O.N and they all put a lot into the SS scene and making sure people ride, enjoy and get on bikes.

They are both acting responsibly and I would hope they will have a beer together and put this one down as a bit of publicity.

Trolls now go back under your bridge ………

Had to buy some a couple of weeks back for a Lake Land monsoon epic. Always said I would never bother with W/proof shorts and just man up, oh how wrong was I. 3/4 Altura Attack after good advise from Biketreks and 5 hours later a dry bummed happy mtb’er 8O Worn them every ride since due to the wet Yarkshire clag.

I know someone who knows someone who has spent man fun time with this knight and even though he will not thank me for saying it ” Our Tollah” is kind hearted,a hard drinker and a average SSer, but he is a bloody top bloke and now and again does the odd dumb thing. It happens, we all rant sometimes…
