Pain. If you enjoy pain you will love road riding. 😀

The best feelin on a ride is when your playing with that edge of control. Occasionally you go over that edge. When you do it’s always good to know the big yellow ambulance is there. There was a collection bucket for the ambulance in Wilkos whilst I was buying a few things. Had to pay by card but emptied all my wallet change Into it the bucket to the bemusement of the cashier. They do a sterling service.

Make your own. Old speaker magnets from charity shops, free cycle etc. Inlay speakers on to mdf, 2mm steel plate over the top, job done

It’s all finish line bottles. A friend of mine works In a bike shop and he bled a pair of elixirs with said fluid and destroyed them. If you have a new ish bottle of fluid take or send it back. If you put mineral through a system expecting dot. It will bugger your brake up good an proper!

If it’s a ford as kimbers and spooky say then I would also say self test. If not then get a chain garage to do a winter garage. These are usually free and will flag up either an alternator prob (probably) or battery issue

All attempts at trail tidying are quickly destroyed by the local nimbys. Ok I get the picture but I would just be happy with them to stop booby trapping the trails that are there.

Get some knee/shin armour for the times when they slip back. Try to place your feet towards the outer side of the pedals so you can feel them more. Angle your heels back, bend your knees a bit more and brace your feet at around 45deg so you can’t get bounced off. If your feel like your getting in to it. Buy some five tens. It’s a revelation

+1 for duggan and TJ has the same idea. I hated Christmas and all it stood for after childhood right up until 4-5 years ago (37 now) I met someone who wasn’t messed up, didn’t have a load of baggage and had a family that still was together. It took a few forced Christmases to see that families can actually spen it together an have a great time without getting wankered and arguing. I actually look forward to it now but iv spent many a year just taking myself off away camping just to get away from the incessant commercial shite.

It’s not about amounts it’s about what goes in. We don’t eat anything processed or high in sat fats. Meat from butcher lots of veg and the occasional bit of fruit. Drink ale not lager and allow your self one takeaway or dirty meal a week. Try it and without trying your body will become leaner.

I had the very same problem with my polo. After calling out the Rac and getting towed to a garage it turned out to be the mass air flow sensor at fault. Water ingress in between the sensor and housing. Take the sensor out thoroughly dry it and the housing. Put a light layer of Vaseline over the join and try again.

    Worked for me.

    Cheers

Over jumped a step-down on the dh bike 2 weeks ago. Landed flat, straight into a tree at full tap. Finger broke, palms bruised, wrists sprained, rotator cuff damaged& shoulder clicks and pops and left leg still bruising and knee feels like it isn’t connected to anything. So lucky not to have broken anything big. Can’t ride for some time yet. Pretty happy weather has turned crap actually

I got a Bataleon Jam last year after having nitros, burtons all the usual mainstream boards and I can honestly say its the best all round board I have ever had. Ive done 3 full seasons so I know how to ride and it rewards bravery well but at the same time you dont have to be on top of your game all the time to ride it.

my suggestion is to go to your nearest snowdome xscape and test some from tsa. I tried a yes, K2 slayblade, bataleon and a omatic. I know its not the best terrain but you can try each for stability, carving (at least 2 turns) pop, buttering and general feel.

you need a separate business premises, be able to fulfill certain quantities and have references from previous/other suppliers. Being VAT registered helps massively too.

I feel that I have to comment on the Jimmer debate. My other half has owned one for the past 2 years now. To begin with I was a bit dubious about it but did my research and warned her of the pitfalls and let her make her own mind up. 2 years down the line and I think its a fantastic little car. yep its no good at high speed, motorway cruising is 65 or you just burn through fuel. but urban, rural and A & B road driving is perfectly acceptable. In bad weather I would rather be in that the anything bar a defender. we made it back from North Yorks when it was really bad and had to cut through all the little vilages around leeds to get home. None of them were cleared and the little Jimmer went up, round and through everything. Some of the lads may take the piss about the size or styling but then they soon change their mind when they want to go riding/boarding and they cant leave their street!

As far as reliability ours is a 2000 w reg and we have had it serviced once in 2 years + its had a new battery. MOT it failed the 1st year on a offside leaking swivel hub (which can be replaced!!) and the 2nd year on the other. swivel hubs are based on the defender version and were £200 fitted each. Bearing in mind we got ours for £1600 and we could sell it tomorrow for the same I dont reckon it owes us much. Its a solid proper offroader based on a ladder chassis design (again like the defender) so you can laugh at people in x5’s cayennes, q7, when they cant get up a snowy icy hill and you chug past them.

i fixed colin mcrae's chain up on the tress black run way back. he was razzing around on his kona and as we were waiting for one of the lads he came down with a snapped chain. was an honour and a privilege. he was pretty handy on a bike too. i thought i hid the inner child jumping up and down inside quite well. mind you i dont fix anyone else's chain with out payment..

I would take the rebound on the forks all way off to minimal rebound damping (towards -) then dial them back 2 clicks. the floats are very reboundy ive got some too. also how high are your bars? try shuffling the stem stackers around to lower your stem towards your top tube. you will notice a difference there too. if that does not do the trick try being a bit more in the attack position when descending and further over the nose of the saddle when climbing. a good trick when climbing steep switchbacks is to purposefully drop the inside elbow of the corner your negotiating. that will swing the bars round steadily and stop any wandering. trust me it works!
    good luck

my advice would be take find some time where you will NOT be interrupted. take things one lacing at a time and check everything 3 times. the most important parts are the 1st spokes on both flanges. get this right and your wheel will be fine. get this wrong and you wont have a valve hole when you have finished.

start at the valve hole and work clockwise
1st spoke of opposite flange should lie flat when pointing down against 1st spoke and not crossed
turn the hub the right way to tension before the 3rd & 4th lacings
remember the old adage under, under, over

    dont panic!!!

i tried a brave new line on one of the wharncliffe DH runs last weekend. result: one v bruised leg, fractured pinky, twisted bars ont bike. the biggest cost though is not going to ride the bill before the lifts end for the season on sat/sun.

watched last night and i was still biting my fingers and screaming even though i knew he had won.

Peaty has been an inspiration to me since the days when i had cantilevers. after meeting the guy at the weekender he truly is a fantastic ambassador for our sport. friendly, down to earth, brilliant.
no one on the circuit deserves it more than him. good work on the george cross too. and lets not forget he is 35!!!! il keep on going until he does thats for sure.

after going past Mr Stato and his flashes 4 times i cant say i was ever bothered by them. at the point he was at was a busy section of trail with a lot to think about if your going at any speed. of course some riders will find any thing they can to blame for one thing or another. im a keen amateur photograhper as well as rider. i think a lot of us are, they seem to go well together. lets face it every one of us would like a pic of us ACTUALLY riding and not some posed for shot that our mates are taking. without paying a pro to follow you around its only from people taking shots and being generous to share them that that’s going to happen.

it was the most enjoyable race i have ever been to . a big shout out to all the boys around the 190 – 210 area especially Jerome for his superb help with the overtaking and the otley boys for their banter and Jelly babies.
if i could possibly swing it with the missus to be at the next round without her leaving i would. i would recommend this to any normal rider. great atmosphere, chilled out people, no race heads or ego’s and plenty of encouragement (heckling!)
the highlight for me was the start of the prologue watching people go off the start drop. jump, wobble, slide, he’s got it, no he hasn’t, yes he has……..crash! normally accompained by lots of ooooooohhhhhhhhhh. yaaaaayyyyys from the crowd. top stuff.

we were up there for a dry and sunny easter this year. we did the route moremud pointed out and it was fantastic. the new path is VERY rocky which makes you concentrate so much you don’t realise how difficult it is! Its an ardous route though so take plenty of time and kit. miles don’t mean anything on it as your either climbing/pushing or scaring yourself silly. Skye has its own micro climate so take everything from sun cream to full waterproofs. if you can pick a clear day then the views are magnificent. one last thing, there are a LOT of stone water bars on the route my friend punctured 3 times on the descent to glenbrittle so either polish up your bunny hop skills or fit a DH tube!

    its an awesome ride enjoy.
