Felt rough on Friday, felt like a good cold etc , didn’t think much about it, went into work Saturday feeling really rough, so much so I came home lunch time, decided to test Sunday and the line came up within seconds , nice and bright.
Wife felt a bit sniffly so did a test and she’s positive as well and today we both really like crap , both sat in front of the telly feeling sorry for ourselves!
we’ve both had all our 3 jabs so no idea how bad it would feel without those ??
had txt from manager today asking when I’m going back !! … not got the energy to actually message him back, let alone go into work which is a physical job.

Can you not do the renewal online? No need to print it then.

No as its a HGV entitlement renewal on my licence, I’ve had to have another medical etc every 5 years and according to the paperwork I’ve received , it must have a new picture etc … I have a digital copy of my passport pic from 2 years ago, just need to print it out the correct size … everything is either weird sized when printed or has a watermark etc

Apart from the cracking near seat tube, are people generally happy with the airwolf brand or not ?? .. asking as im looking at their carbon gravel frames ?
Guessing maybe not ? .. but spose it depends on how many have cracked and how many they have sold ?

Get yourself over to merlin cycles and order some 24 inch Schwalbe AV10 or SV10 innertubes to split , works a treat on my fat bike

I have 2 Pinnacle frames/bikes , An Arkose and Ramin 3+ … both great bikes and still going strong after years of abuse, although I need a pair of forks for the Arkose as the tyres have took more than the paint off inside the crown ! Shame they none left over to buy :(

I invested around £900 , mostly in Cardano after a friend that makes good money from it convinced me to give it a go …. seems like I bought when it was at its highest and now its worth less than half ! … I’ve decided to just leave it where it is for now , as I’ve already lost over 50% of its value and see what happens ? ….. Just thought it would buy me a nice new shiny bike this year … guessing not anymore :(

The salary difference is a grand annually. I know you said it’s set further up the food chain but they might at least ask for you if nudged? You’re experienced and you’re a known quantity to them, that has to count for something.

If you have a HGV licence right now, I’m amazed that people aren’t knocking down your door to try and give you work.

No move on money, been there and asked, its a company wide thing ! that’s that ,As for the HGV driving, yeah I’ve had offers but nothing locally, don’t fancy 300 miles commute every week or doing silly hours … done that got the tshirt … came up here to do LESS !

Am I correct in understating the holiday camp job will be around 6months of minimum wage but give you enough cash to cushion the whole 12 months?

And the council job is 12 months of minimum wage?

I had 8 months last year on minimum wage, if I go back Monday I may get 9 maybe 10 months till end of season ?
Wish I could make the 6 months money last 12 months , id take that !
Council , is more than minimum but permanent etc

I think holiday company you can take a “break” while working, yes? Have a fag etc, yes?

Not fags for me personally , but yes .. have stopped work and gone down the sea front for an ice cream on more than 1 occasion ;)

I’d be wary of having all my employment eggs in one holiday company basket. If the company goes pop (which they can do, and with little warning), or decides it needs to lose some staff to cut costs, you could be screwed.

Good point :) …. well they have just been bought out by an uber global investment company !.. so u never know

The wife and I are pretty much in the same position – mortgage free, early 50s. Both in jobs that pay OK, but don’t really enjoy. We could both take seasonal work and still pay the basics. But we’d be existing, not living.

that’s exactly how it is , perfect wording :) …. My wife also works for the same BIG holiday company but on a different site ,she’s gone from a manic NHS to a leisurely 2 days a week cleaning caravans and she’s happy as well, Zero stress … But as you say .. its just existing

Does the not much more money factor in if the council job has a better pension? Sick leave. God forbid you need it but if you had some accident or unexpected illness where you were off for a few months are the jobs equal?

good points, no sick pay etc , all basic stuff including company pension etc , but that isn’t a lot , we do have savings but that’s took a hit the last year or so, so not a lot to fall back on

At 20 quid a week can’t they match it?

sadly not , he doesn’t control the money , its set at head office, 99% of the staff are seasonal and on minimum wage

When would the holiday park job start? Nothing to stop you trying the council job for a month to see if it is as bad as you expect.

starts Monday , same as council ..and yes I have the option to go back as well :).. so thats a bit of a safety net

What do you need the extra money for?
If indeed you do need it.

If nothing vital then holiday park every day of the week.

We can survive on the money, but that’s it .. survive … its just having a bit extra incase of emergencies etc , boiler or car issues etc … as above its not much more, roughly £20 a week, but its something ! … Just not feeling the new job ….. but I’ve spoken to the holiday camp manager and he’s told me if it doesn’t work out then I can go back as long as the roles not been filled, which I doubt it will be because we ran short staffed all last year

Born and bred brummie here, moved out of Birmingham after 52 years and now live in a quiet village in east Yorkshire :) … Things like the congestion charge helped me make my mind up to move on , My daily commute took me through the city centre ever day and so an extra £40 a week just to get to work soon starts adding up ! .. all the clean air charge has done is force the cars into the smaller streets around the clean air zone and make the pollution even worse around the residents.
An old school friend has a small garage just inside the zone and he’s decided to close up after 35 years as fed up with less work etc and those that do come to his garage want the £8 deducted from the bill etc !
Its the councils way of paying for the commonwealth games being held up the road this year

Took the wife’s Toyota Aygo in today, they had a quick look around it , didn’t even open the car to look inside , no test drive etc .. offered me the full amount minus the admin fee straight away , no knocking the price down etc …. Ended up with £1300 more than I paid for it 3 years ago !
Quite a painless experience , and a happy customer :)

Wifes Aygo , has gone up again to £7315…. We only paid £6k for it 3 years ago :) …. Its going in the next few weeks :)

Yeah , get it checked again .
I had chest pains in April while on the bike, seen GP an hour later, ECG looked ok in the GP surgery, prescribed aspirin and statins for good cholesterol ,went to see a cardiologist a week later for an ultra sound and they couldn’t see anything of concern and put forward for a treadmill stress test and that was in May, after me chasing the doctors and the hospital I’ve finally got an appointment on the 26th of this month !
Only ridden the bike a few times since then and not pushed the heart rate too much even though I’ve not had another pain episode, Its always at the back of my mind .
Good luck and hope you get it sorted

I’m thinking about something similar ish to run Zwift if I decide to give that a go over the winter (rather than trainer road just through my iPhone).

Found these on eBay – don’t know if they’re any good? Seems you can pick processor / ram / ssd size. Seems like for £130 you can have an i3 / 8gb ram / 240gb ssd. Which is probably sufficient for what I’d want it for. I’ve got a fairly new tower with an i5 / 16gb ram / 500gb ssd etc which is my main pc at home.

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lenovo-Intel-i7-4th-gen-2TB-HDD-SSD-16GB-RAM-M93-Ultra-Small-PC-WIN-10-PRO-Wi-Fi-/353135466768?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

Ive looked at similar on ebay as well , probably more than enough for my needs

How does a Hyundai tyre cost 180 quid??! Last year the eagle f1s on my boxster cost significantly less than that.

Also..39 psi…any car I’ve ever run has the tyres about 35 psi. Am I doing it wrong?

Nothing to do with it being a Hyundai etc , Just a Michelin primacy 4, 18 inch ,national tyres £178 , found them at kwik fit for £144 on special
as for tyre pressure, they all had 39 psi when I picked the car up , reading the book it says 36 psi and so dropped them a bit
