just had my second lease hire car turn up , first car I’ve had 3 years, had to put 2 new front tyres on it for the mot , plenty of tread left just cracking around the edges so mot fail , so 2 cheapest same spec tyres fitted, spent a few hours over the weekend cleaning it, looks really good again inside and out , couple of tiny marks and 1 small dint near fuel filler flap but happy with condition, will be sad to see it go tomorrow as been a fab car .

first car was with Zen auto , this cars through leasecar , both great to deal with , just don’t get too hung up on spec etc … I had to have an auto as its all the wife can drive and set your self a budget and get the best u can for that money…. plenty of good deals around

‘^^^eh, how’s that. Stumpy was asking about ID3 so i gave the info from my car (an ID3 with a different skin basically). They mentioned 200 miles so I take it they are looking at the 58kw battery (my car) not the 77kw.

Stumpy, I’ve had my ID3 for just over 12 months and in winter it will still charge to 200 miles give or take a couple miles.

Similar to what molgrips has mentioned my old Kia Soul would be a lot more accurate than the ID3 for giving consistent range.

Thank you both for the info and sorry yes it is the 58kw version …. will keep an eye on the thread

If you headed off to Brum (just…why?! ?)

As my children and grand kids live there , I escaped after 52 years and now live up’t north near the coast :)

Don’t want to get an EV with 200 mile range only to find out in the real world its 170 etc …. as you say its a mindset thing

Been following this thread with interest as getting and running an EV is a possibility now our lease cars about to go back and so looking for real world range and running costs etc …most of our driving is rural country lanes to work , 12 miles each way , BUT …. we need enough range to get to Birmingham (167 miles) easily enough when needed …but this is only 5 or 6 times a year,  almost all charging will be done at home except the odd trip out , see above

Anyone run an ID3 pro .. or even the new Astra although wife’s not keen on the looks of the Astra , she prefers the Mokka but range is barely 200 miles !

Thanks for any info and sorry for the slight Hijack …… As you were

Also had great service from Hunt , my road wheels had corrosion on the nipples and were still just inside the warranty … sent them a few pics , full set of new nipples in post within a few days and  a note telling me to get the wheels rebuilt at a local shop with new nipples etc, and share the receipt with them and they would forward the money onto me to cover it which they did , all paid for and sorted … superb service and happy wheels and customer

We’re on oil and starting to look at new boilers , ours is 17 years old and costing us more and more each year to keep running, ours is a HRM wall star and getting quotes of 5k+ !! …. Looking around the combi on its own is near enough 3k ! … why are oil burners so much more than gas boilers ? … East coast Yorkshire

Do you have any swelling at the elbow too?

the initial pain was all in my elbow , felt like really bad tennis elbow and I couldn’t stretch or extend my arm at all, as in too much pain… the injury actually stemmed from me decorating my stairwell which is 5 metres high and so had to hire a stair scaffold to reach the top, it was me pulling myself up the scaffold by my left arm while holding a paint tray in the other hand !! … the fact I cant bend my thumb at all is my biggest concern, simple things like releasing the hand brake and even possibly not being able to grip the bars on my bike !!
Elbow pain isn’t too bad now but seems all in my wrist now , hence no feelings in fingers ….. sat here with a cold compress on it to see if it helps …….. Back to work tomorrow moving 47kg gas bottles around and getting huge wheelie bins on and off my bin truck !

Funny this , as I’m having issues with our boiler albeit an oil burner, had serviced etc all ok , 2 days later no hot water , turns out micro switch playing up on diverter etc , changed that and then diverter started leaking , changed seals etc , 2 days later starts leaking again , came out again and suddenly needs new automatic air vent as cant bleed ? , did that etc , get up today to a few drops of water on counter top and then a email invoice of £452 !! …

He does keep commenting that it needs replacing etc , and I’m looking at the best part of 5k for like for like ! ..

Do the senicx cranks have a steel axle? I’m wary of a 24 mm alu axle snapping

In reply to the safety side , all ppe etc will be worn ,I was a car and bike painter for many years and we used syn strip back in the late 80’s and it was good stuff back then … didn’t realise it was still around , hence me not looking for it on the web …. cheers

Why do you want to strip it, is the wood good enough to have on display

I’m hoping so , we just fancy a nice wooden looking hand rail with the rest etc in white , it may be more hassle than its worth , but ill strip the hand rails and see where we go from there ? … if they are crap then they will get white gloss … Cheers for all the info

I live very rural now , far less traffic than Birmingham , which I left after 50 years , but even with much quieter roads , I still had plenty of close calls etc , BUT recently I’ve invested in a rear light radar attached to my head unit and its been a revelation :) …. its superb knowing I’m covered and gives me plenty of notice to cars coming up on me.. that’s not to say they still wont get close to you but at least you know you have a car coming up on you and that in my mind is half the battle , as u don’t usually know they are there until they are virtually on you ! … this way u get 140m warning and how fast they are approaching .. total recommendation

Semi – Thread hijack… We are coming to stay in Rudston for a weekend at the end of September – can anyome local suggest a decent XC loop?

Rudston , is the next village from where I live about 3 miles, what you looking for as not much mtb stuff , there’s a few bridle ways i link up for a loop etc, more suited to a gravel bike but can ride the mtb if u want too ? … drop us a pm and ill sort a route out :) …. Or head to Dalby forest , 20 odd miles away and loads there , gravel or mtb

Just been out on mine, if I’m honest I’m struggling with how low the front end is, very short headtube and not much steerer left to run more spacers! I’m riding a small frame, I’ve put a slight rise stem on and I’m now running riser drops and still getting neck ache !… Apart from not getting the fit right its nice to ride , so will keep tinkering ! …. Ive still got the massive box in the kitchen as well !
