I recently in desperation used bog standard sellotape. Worked a treat and held pressure with no sealant and still going strong a month later.

My wife uses the malone telos system to get her sea kayak on top of the car (Dacia duster). She’s shorter (and weaker I’d imagine) than you and has had no trouble with it. Small step also required for final tying down.

I’ve used Procore, Huck Norris and Cushcore.

Huck Norris is too thin to actually do any good and Procore was more trouble than it was worth and I still cracked 2 rims with it.

Cushcore is expensive for what it is but it’s been good and hassle free (apart from fitting, which isn’t too bad if you follow the instructions).

I’ve seen the rimpact and nukeproof ard systems my friends are running and cushcore is quite different. Cushcore is more like rubber than the foam of the other systems.

First time I ever did a lower service on forks. Thought I better do things right so got a torque wrench. Torque wrench didn’t work and I sheared the bottom off the damper.

    We stayed here http://www.verbier.ch/en/fppoi-camping-de-champsec-3501.html

In vans though. It did the job and was easy to roll down to the lift station.

@downhiller if you’re taking suggestions it would be great to be able to select a limit amount of riders in a race to compare their times directly.

i.e. click on all my mates in a race and just be able to see their times rather than having to scroll up and down to compare

Love Roots and Rain btw, seriously damages my work productivity on the Monday morning after a race

I’d recommend doing the Round the Coyles of Muick for a non-technical ride and extend it up to loch muick. I wouldn’t recommend taking her along the singletrack at the far end of loch muick it’ll almost certainly be a push for her the whole way and probably some for you too (my wife didn’t thank me for it and she’s comfortable on trail centre reds). There’s also always just pedalling down to Deeside way to Aboyne and Glentanar is a good shout also.

Look on trailforks for stuff for yourself, there are some great trails down from the masts on both sides of the river and if you can’t spare the time (i’d suggest more than 1 hour required) to do heart break ridge you will regret it. The trails at Aboyne are incredible at the moment if you manage to get a bit more time.

Go back 5ish years and I’m sure you’ll find threads with people making the same complaints when 11 speed came out. It’s just gears. Having 1 more cog will make bugger all difference to you.

Has your FTP gone up since the start of your builder plan?</span>

I don’t know yet, I haven’t finished the plan. I’ll find out next week when I do my FTP test after a few days rest after finishing the plan at the weekend.

Just interested to hear others experiences, don’t want to commit to the 12 week plan and find out at the end it’s only made a minimal improvement.

Has anyone done any of the training plans?

If so did they make a difference?

I’ve almost finished the “FTP Builder” and was looking a doing the “Build me up” one next.

Looking for some feedback before I commit to a 12 week programme.

Anyone got any idea what size of tyres I could fit on a 2013 Arkose if I run a 650b wheel instead of 700c?

There’s a couple of good downtime podcasts about the trans Provence. One with a guy who raced it and one with the organiser. Listening to them should give you an idea what’s required.

My take always from them were, be as fit as possible, know how to handle yourself in big mountain environments, be prepared to carry the bike for significant periods and be comfortable riding very technical trails blind.

I haven’t done it but going to apply for 2019 with the  expectation to that I’ll need to train hard beforehand and it’ll be extremely tough no matter what.

When the bridge at Braemar was damaged a few years ago in flooding there was a diversion of about 130miles in place. On 2 roads that had snow gates and it was January.

As trailrat said we’ve always (7 years and counting) just used self timing with everyone carrying a watch or whatever assuming everyone is honest. It minimises the faff and the number of people needed to run the “race”.

The nytatime website, it doesn’t appear to be an app, seems interesting though. Do you need data connection to use it?

    @munrobiker

Those photos must be a few years ago now, the path below the falls looks very little like that these days, none of those smooth sections left. The bit at the falls is actually easy in comparison to what follows.

Lochnagar is easily harder than callater. Rode both several times in the last year.  The bottom of Lochnagar is brutal just now. It’s not really waterbars anymore just a massive rock garden.

    Agree with Fergal.

Drop North off Sgor Gaoith to Creag Follais then take the zig zags down form the weather station.

I had this problem with a front ice tech rotor.

It looked ok but thought it might be warped so replaced the it with a new ice tech one. Same problem.

Happened with both XT and Saint brakes.

Replaced the rotor with an Uberbike one, no more problems,

Ultimately I just want to have better results, mostly to beat my mates and maybe stand on the podium again (I managed once last season). I’m 33, 75kgs and my FTP when I tested it last week was 237 (so there’s definitely room for improvement).

I’ve has a look through the workouts and last night I did “The Gorby” which I thought was a better fit for Enduro training and sparked off the thread wondering what others thoughts were.

I’m finding the turbo with zwift being much better for training than outside as I can concentrate just on the effort. I’ve found zwift a lot better than a dumb trainer and it lets me fit it in around my other riding more easily.

There’s definitely room for improvement in all the elements of my riding and I’m trying to address all of those in some way.

    Thanks for the responses guys.

I was more looking for what workouts on Zwift people thought reflected the needs of training for Enduro. Most of the workouts are based on increasing FTP (which I know is helpful in general) but I’m looking to be a bit more specific.

I’m already doing intervals and strength training plus loads of riding (2500m+ per week) which is pretty much all Enduro type rides on proper trails which while they aren’t quite the Golfie they’re not far off. I simply don’t have the time to do more and have a job & wife, so it needs to be properly focused.

I’ve had some good results this year and it’s clear the people in front of me don’t “just” ride their bikes to get there.

So I’m always open to suggestions for training.
