I really hope the SES will run next year but i’m not holding my breath.

    Banchory, Aboyne or Ballater probably.

I’d choose Aboyne but it is the smallest of the 3 so has less pubs etc.

There’s definitely something wrong with enduro in Scotland.

No SES this year. Fair City, Ballo & Dunkeld enduro’s all now stopped.

There also seems to be reduction in difficulty of the remaining races, the overall lap seems to have reduced in size/challenge as well as an unwillingness to have any significant pedalling within stages. Races are becoming events rather than races that challenge a riders skill and fitness.

It’s just held in by an o-ring. It just pushes out

I’ve done the modification. Made a huge difference.

It’s incredible. Exactly what the north east needed. As Euain says we are not short on rocks and tech so it’s not really needed. You don’t need to go far to find more tech than you know what to do with. I’m sure some natural techy trails will begin to appear soon enough.

You’ve mentioned british ranking points a few times. Who is giving these out? Ranking points on a national level for enduro outside of the BEMBA races isn’t something i’ve ever heard of before. Given British Cycling don’t recognise enduro as a discipline where are they coming from?

Or maybe your talking about this weekends DH race above rather than last weekends enduro?

They’re running the XCO & XCM world championships at least. They should be running the scottish enduro series as well but they seem to have just forgotten that completely.

I’ve bought celium from both bike and mx shops. No difference

I had an issue which sounds similar. Turned out the the bottom bushing on the pivot that goes through the motor had fallen out (it’s the only one without a retaining clip). Have a look at the bottom of the mech and see if it’s still there. Got the mech replaced on warranty by SRAM.

Scolty is opening up again but you really need to know where you’re going as there’s a lot of cutting between trails and new sections required.

Hill of Fare is almost all open except for camels toe and my little pony which are gone. The forest road around the bottom of the hill heading east from the top of teddybears picnic is also blocked so if you want to be able to loop round to between the lower and upper hill you need to push up the trails or use the road.

Durris is ok except the bottom of pine martin and Durris 1 & 2. If you ride any of the trails that finish into pine martin you need to use calladrum to exit them

“Which shoes have the most rear set cleats? I’m interested in dabbling again but I always feel like I’m perched on my tip toes.”

I just got some Specialized 2fo Cliplite shoes and automatically put the cleats back as far as possible but for the 1st time i’m thinking i might want to move them forward a bit so they could be a good option.

I did the capel mounth / Corrie chash loop on Sunday. There was still a small patch of snow to cross on the Corrie chash descent. Still looked to be plenty of snow on lochnagar including down glas allt.

I’m coming up to a year on my 161. 2500km in and no issues at all (apart from the headset it came with being crap).

It’s the time of year when i usually be stripping the bike and changing the bearings but there is zero play anywhere so i’m not going to bother.

I bought frame only so can’t speak for any of the parts the full bike comes with (and i changed the shock).

I’m hard on bikes so impressed so far with how it’s held up. It’s a weighty number but really fast if you push it.

The riding is the best in Scotland. Better and more varied than the tweed valley

Anyone who’s been to the Alps should know that green and blue trails can be of an appropriate difficulty for less experienced/skilled riders and fun for better/quicker riders. Really what I was hoping for with this but really doesn’t sound like that’s happened and it’s a miss opportunity of it hasn’t.

Would depend on whether you need to start and finish at the same place.

10 probably doable if not, a lot harder if it needs to be a loop.

    Drumtochty.

Most stuff on the south side of Strathfinella hill is fairly mellow. The stuff on the north side and on the other side of the glen is a lot steeper and spicier.

I’ve ridden the Ben Mheadhoin descent. Probably managed 95% of it, they were doing path work which made that bit unrideable. The biggest challenge is not just skidding all the way down it (no skids in the hills!) as it’s so loose.

Aberdeen was put in to a lockdown of similar severity to the current one after the pubs incident with a cases per 100k of around 20. Some locations in the borders and dumfries & galloway were treated similarly.

If track and trace worked so well why was a full city lockdown required in Aberdeen? They didn’t just act on pubs it was a full no visiting homes, no leaving the city, shops & pubs closed.

Frankly I watched agape that Glasgow and other areas didn’t get shutdown in the same manner as there cases soared.

I don’t disagree with the need to lockdown Aberdeen and the other areas, it was needed to suppress the spread of the virus but the lack of willingness from the Scottish Government to do the same in the central belt when it was required was shocking.

To say that the same wouldn’t have worked in Glasgow and other places is clearly wrong given that they never got their cases back under control until they are starting to now because they have been in the same level of lockdown that Aberdeen was put into back in August for the past 2 months.

I gave mine loads of abuse. It was the chainstay I broke not the seatstay.

It was a nightmare for breaking hangers just riding along though

No idea if it was from trail buzz but I was getting sore hands riding my hardtail with Renthal Fatbar lite’s on, changed them for the one up bars and no more sore hands.

I’ve done 8,500k on my Propain Spindrift. Not bad for something sold as a freeride bike.

I’m sure it will. That doesn’t make it similar to the Privateer though

    stumpy120

I wouldn’t have thought the Sentinel and Privateer will be very similar. The Privateer is a full on Enduro race bike whilst the sentinel is being described as an all-rounder, more like a big trail bike.

Don’t know what’s available but an axle to crown length of 490mm is going to be a short travel suspension fork. The current model of fox 32 with 100mm of travel has an a-c of 504mm.

I mulleted my Propain Spindrift today just to see what it was like. BB is a bit high but otherwise good. Got a offset bushing on the way to lower it back down.

My daughter isn’t quite 1 yet and I’ve got her one of these:

Beehive Toys My First Bike,… https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B073QQ2WP3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

She’s not quite big enough (she’s quite small) but understands the concept (the legs flap but don’t quite reach the ground) and loves getting pushed about on it
