just to point out, I didnt say I couldnt do the climb – I was fine on my V12’s..

The rock garden section (We saw people failing on) was towards the top just before the last wooded section (I think) .. Cant remember exactly.

Also didnt say it was “too rocky” just pointing out to the guy that it was rocky!!.. 😮

to me, (my opinion) I would travel up the road to Brechfa,,

I rode Afan a few weeks back, its definitley showing its age. Very worn and rocky (ready to smash your pedals) on the 6km Sheep track climb.. (which isnt too bad, just not much fun…)
Probably wouldnt bother with SPD’s.. Saw many many people failing when trying to clip in whilst trying to ride up a rock garden!

We ran the raven trail at Brechfa – and preferred it, was no where near as busy as the hyped Afan, which was nice..
I would say more technical, and had some nice bermed sections you could ride back round and hit again..

Some of the sections are gnarly! with danger of death signs.. Dont worry about em. Care obviously needed.

    Have fun dude!

    Well,

Had a good bash at Stanmer, (Route recommended by someone at work!) We started at the Ditchling road carpark (at the top) (North A27) From the car park, went past the twin farm buildings, immediatley left. bit of fire-roady singly track, nice n twisty through the woods. Ended up following our noses, finding some log jumps, and stump berms, ended up at the concrete pond. Didnt go any further down though as we rode back up n hit it all again.
Whereabout should I go from the pond?? Also Where the hell is the “wild park”?!?

    Cheers dude’s..

I ran flats at the weekend (peaslake) running Shimano AM41’s and some old DMR V8’s.
After running SPD’s and egg beaters for 10 years or so!

Felt much more, nimble on the bike, managed to rail the Berms on BKB I hadnt managed before with SPD’s!?

That shoe combo worked for me..
    Do it.

Right, Thanks for the nudge chaps. Stripped out the rear hub, couldnt find anything wrong? or out of place? nothing looked worn really..

I did notice that the cassette retaining nut, wasnt as “tight” as it could be. Could this be a cause? Possibly slipping?

Havent managed to ride yet since rebuilding and retorqueing the Cassette nut.

Yeah, Was BKB today, not too cold.

Seemed to “jutter sideways” on some sections, just before the berms.. (gutted).

Telegraph was fast though!. Will try softening it all up..

Normally fast, rooty, rocky singletrack. (afan, CYB), lots of roots and small rutts at Peaslake..

Currently weigh 13st.. was thinking 40PSi was a tad high.
